A suicide bombing apparently tied to the one-year anniversary of the Red Mosque raid killed at least 15 in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad Sunday night. The next morning, a bomber drove an explosives-laden car into the Indian Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, killing 41—including India’s ranking defense attaché—and injuring more than 140 others.


Los Angeles Times:

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN—A powerful suicide explosion killed at least 15 people and injured dozens of others here Sunday evening, shortly after a large protest rally marking the one-year anniversary of government forces’ raid on a radical mosque. Most of the dead were police officers.

The blast, which appeared to have targeted the security forces, poses a sharp new challenge to Pakistan’s coalition government, which has been struggling in its efforts to formulate a policy for dealing with Islamic militants.

BBC:

A suicide bomber has rammed a car full of explosives into the gates of the Indian embassy in the Afghan capital, killing 41 people, officials say.

More than 140 were injured, including civilians and security forces, in the attack in the morning rush hour.

India’s defence attache, Brig R Mehta, was one of those killed.
