S.F. Mayor Proud of His City’s Values

Politicians usually try to explain away their records once they bid for higher office. Take the case of just about any big-time Democrat and the issue of gay marriage. But San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who formally launched an exploratory bid for the California governorship, says he’s not worried about his gay rights legacy: “We’re about civil rights and equal rights, you better believe it. ... I’m proud of that, I’m not going to hide from that. ... So now let’s talk about health care, education, the environment. Let’s have a conversation about your kids and what you want this state to look like five, 10 years from now.”

Los Angeles Times:

In an interview today, Newsom said he was mindful of the city’s somewhat eccentric reputation and alluded to the “values” issues—political code for gay rights and other left-leaning positions—that opponents may try to use to his political detriment. “Bring that on,” he said just after signing the papers creating his campaign committee.

“We’re about civil rights and equal rights, you better believe it,” Newsom said. “I’m proud of that, I’m not going to hide from that . . . So now let’s talk about healthcare, education, the environment. Let’s have a conversation about your kids and what you want this state to look like five, 10 years from now.”

Gavin Newsom has been one of the worst mayor’s in San Francisco history. Not only does he pander to developers and has runied the city landscape, but his “care not cash” program has been the biggest disaster of San Francisco. We now have more homeless people living on the streets than ever before. This population includes women and children. This mayor has cut funding for homeless shelters that have been helping these women and children and now they face the streets. The Saint Anthony’s shelter is closing in August of this year. This shelter has helped women get off the streets and transistion into homes and work. Now he is going to allow this to close. The other 24 hour shelter called Busters place was closed down several months ago. This was also a safe haven for women and children as well. The man is a liar. He will not help California. He will make matters worse. If a person can not mayor a small city like San Francisco imagine how poorly he will run the state. The media loves this guy and are playing up his “good looks”. Who gives a shit about some one’s looks. He is not an intelligent person and he is a sell out to anyone willing to pay him for his “OK” on any back door deal. San Francisco has gone down hill since willie brown was in office and newsome made things worse. This city is dirty, over priced and no available housing for working class or working poor. The number of people now leaving SF is due to the housing costs and no available housing for anyone except the extreme rich. Newsom wants this city to just be for the wealthy. Sad, very sad. All of the truly interesting people have left SF due to this idiot.

Gavin Newsom needs to just go away.  I’ll never understand why he wanted to put gay marriage into a Presidential Election.  He works in San Fran but I just want him to leave the national stage.
