Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert speaks at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference in Washington on Tuesday.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert issued a warning across the ocean to Iran during a visit to Washington Tuesday, urging the international community to convince Tehran that pursuing a nuclear weapons program would be a really, really bad idea.

BBC:

Mr Olmert’s US visit comes as he faces pressure at home over corruption allegations, which he denies.

“The Iranian threat must be stopped by all possible means,” Mr Olmert said in his speech before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee—a lobby group.

“The international community has a duty and responsibility to clarify to Iran, through drastic measures, that the repercussions of their continued pursuit of nuclear weapons will be devastating,” he added.

And Arabian Thoroughbred says, “The Israeli threat to world peace must be stopped, and as a prelude to that, the thought terrorism of Alan Dershwitz must be stopped first.”

As for McCain,Hillary Clinton and Barack Oboma shame on you for your shameless pandering to Zionism! You’re selling your country cheap for the dirty dollars of Zionists!

Your’e so right, WOTS. He’s much more insidious than Kahane.

Dershowitz has managed (at least on TV) to maintain the fiction that he’s a “civil libertarian”, always obediently introduced as such when he appears on news and commentary shows (probably because everybody knows that he would bring a ruinously expensive lawsuit against anyone who tried to introduce him honestly, as in, “And now let’s hear what ethnic supremacist authoritarian social Darwinist Alan Dershowitz has to say on this...").

Gotta commend your take on Dershowitz. Of all the players in the history of the ME conflict, he strikes me as the most clearly wicked in both method and intent. Even Zionist leaders like Ben Gurion and Herzl evinced some remorse at the displacement and death their movement caused.

Meir Kahane, for all his Jewish supremacy, was less threatening, because at least everyone knew where he coming from. But Dershowitz, thanks to the perceived credibility his position and his notoriety affords, is a frightful trojan horse—invited into America’s homes through the networks to spew his twisted, hateful propaganda.

Oh, drop your phony superiority. Go tell your mother how great you are. We’re not impressed. I’ve read more books than anybody has a right to have read on this subject. I can document every single assertion from multiple sources and with unimpeachable reasoning, and I have done so on this site on numerous occasions. Of course the moderators periodically erase it all, leaving pro- Israel disinformation apparently unchallenged. This is frustrating, of course, but it’s my duty as citizen to persist.

YOU go read some books and get back to us, you lightweight.  Start with Scott Ritter, “Target Iran”; James Bamford, “A Pretext for War”; Joseph Wilson, “The Politics of Truth”; Mearsheimer and Walt, “The Israel Lobby”; Mike Scheuer, “Imperial Hubris”; Noam Chomsky, “Fateful Triangle”, Norman Finkelstein, “Beyond Chutzpah”, Ron Suskind, “The Price of Loyalty”; Richard Clarke, “Against All Enemies”; Richard Ben Cramer, “How Israel Lost”; Norman Finkelstein, “The Holocaust Industry”; Michael Neumann, “The Case Against Israel”.

And just for laughs, try that ridiculous compendium of lies, forgeries, and sheer racial supremacist pseudo-liberal, murderously paranoiac, upside-down moralizing sophistry, Alan Dershowitz, “The Case for Israel” (which is also the case for torture, the case for wars of aggression, the case for mass killing of civilians, the case for ethnic cleansing, the case for why the Jews and Israel get to do whatever they damn well please and everyone else has to play by the rules, etc.).

Ooo, the left-wingnuts who crawl out of the woodwork when Israel’s mentioned; Israel’s the source of all evil! Israel runs the U.S. government! Pathetic.
Do you really think Bush or Cheney give a damn about Israel? They don’t care about the U.S.! The mullahs in Iran have to go because they’re sitting on a sea of oil and because they’re threatening to influence the oil companies out of Iraq. Bushco is all about oil. Israel doesn’t want to attack Iran because of its imaginary nukes (although a journalist friend who often visits Iran tells me that the mullahs and the government are indeed nuts); Israel wants to attack Iran because it’s what Bushco wants. Israel’s neo-con leaders are making noise about Iran because Bushco can’t get up enough propaganda to justify an attack on Iran. Israel is the U.S.’s puppet here, as it is in so many other cases.
Israel’s attacked its neighbors? Name one besides Fatah or Hamas or Hezbollah or Islamic Jihad, i.e. organizations that commit terrorist attacks. Genocide? Where? There are more Palestinians in the occupied territories than ever before! Please, people, read a book before you type!

does anyone notice the symbol being displayed at aipac meetings and conventions, you know the star of david modified with the stars and stripes.

is that not weird to anyone?

i’m not anti-semetic, and in fact have many jewish friends and clients, but i find that the powers that be in isreal, much like the powers that be in the states, do not reflect nor support the will of the people they represent.

also, i’m really getting sick of jewish leaders playing the ‘chosen people’ card.

my personal beliefs stem from the the judeo-christian influence, but i have a brain, that god gave me by the way, and i’m pretty practical, and i don’t buy a lot of what is being sold to us in the bible.  look at the history of that book, or ‘collection of books’ which is the meaning of the word bible from the greek ‘ta biblia’.  it has been re-translated so many times by so many different groups and influences that it has essentially been reduced to a story book with little to no historical accuracy.

so for a particular group to say that they are better, or of more importance because some story book says they are, i think is ridiculous.

especially considering the gravity of the global situation, with so many millions of lives at stake, and economies in the balance, it sounds a tad bit ludicrous for world leaders to site the bible or any ancient scripture as their central source of guidance toward policy making.

lets all put down our books of scripture, whatever they are, and build policies based on equal rights, lets try to take religious influence out of politics.  lofty dream, i know, but is it not becoming more painfully obvious that the worlds leaders are manipulating religions and their followers to further their own selfish desires?

Since Hamas came to power a year ago, attacks on Gaza’s 3,000 Christians have increased.

It is no doubt unthinkable to some, but let’s imagine a nuclear armed Iran for a moment. The right wing in Israel would have us believe that this spells immediate and inexorable armageddon. The racist thrust of this—those irrational Arabs are not capable of dealing responsibly with such power, as we are—is obvious.

But imagine a ME in which Israel can no longer play the supreme power, or act with impunity. Imagine a ME in which Israel would be forced to deal fairly with their neighbors.

Yes, in this imaginary scenario, the world may face a Middle Eastern Missile Crisis or two, but this would mostly consist of saber rattling and bluster—headline grabbers to be sure, but not armageddon.

While dirty bombs in the hands of radical groups may present an ever growing threat around the world, it is almost never in the interest of a nation state to use nuclear weapons.  However, it can be useful to have this option in your back pocket, especially if your aggressive neighbor is keeping all their options on the table. Who is Israel to be final arbiter in deciding who shall have this right, and who shall not?

Further, Iran, being a new member of the nuclear family, would no longer feel bullied and browbeaten, regarded as second class. It’s honor and dignity as a nation would be restored, making it more stable, not less.

This will never happen of course. Israel is going to get it’s way. We are going to have continued generational strife in that region, and Americans are going to continue to pick up the tab, wether it’s more unwinnable wars, or more planes flown into buildings. Even now, our president is going to give audience to a corrupt, discredited, lame-duck leader, who, while claiming to be our true friend, will foment fear and spread lies in the single minded interest of the great colonial project.

Only genocide that is around has been announced by Hamas which has called for complete total elimination of Israel and its peoples. Its in their charter. In their textbooks and schools and sermons in their mosques. It is the only goal of Hamas. Imagine.

It’s ridiculous, because Israeli fanatics are ridiculous. But it’s also what these people say they believe is God’s plan for Israel.

Anyway, we notice that you seize on point 5 above, since it’s farthest fetched, while ignoring the main argument of points 1 through 4, which are beyond dispute and show Israel to be completely in the wrong on this matter.

Israel’s aim is quite plainly, as we know from the 1996 “Clean Break” plan, to destroy its neighbors - not to “defend” itself properly speaking, but in order to have no rivals.

Elimination of rival nations and peoples who impede one’s plans for ethnic-national aggrandizement is not “self defense”. It’s evil and criminal and ugly.

And so very, very Israel.

(1) In its most recent report, the IAEA has confirmed the nondiversion of nuclear materials by Iran to any purpose other than its peaceful nuclear energy program. The IAEA in fact has never found that Iran has conducted any significant activities in violation of the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty).

(2) Furthermore, under the NPT (which Israel won’t sign and which the US is violating) Iran has the “inalienable right” to enrich uranium. Iran only agreed to suspend enrichment for a while, as a “confidence-building” measure, under an “additional protocol”. When it became clear that the US and Israel will continue demanding that Iran suspend enrichment permanently, regardless of any inspection results, Iran decided to resume its enrichment activities, while inspectors continue to have the run of their country and find nothing of any real concern.

(3) Privately, Israeli officials admit that they do not believe what they publicly say: that Iran is anywhere near acquiring a nuclear weapon, or that Iran, even if it had one, would launch a (certainly suicidal) nuclear first strike against Israel, or hand off a nuclear weapon to terrorist freelancers.

(4) Israel is not worried about its “security” in any commonly accepted sense. Israel wants to maintain its regional monopoly on nuclear technology in order continue with total impunity to maintain hegemonic regional control, expand its borders, launch vicious attacks on its neighbors, steal land and water resources, and torture and dispossess the Palestinians.

(5) Israel’s right-wing parties, which effectively control their government (and ours, respecting Mideast policy) and are more powerful each passing day, have always maintained that “Eretz Israel” (the real, God-given, biblical Israel) extends to the Euphrates River in Iraq, and so we can assume that a significant portion of Israel’s ruling elite imagine eventually taking possession of (Shiite) southern Iraq with its vast oil wealth. Shiite Iran must be destroyed if Israel is to undertake this plan with any hope of successfully driving out, subjugating, or killing the local population of un-"Chosen" persons. It sounds crazy, but Israel’s rulers and their fanatical American backers are crazy.

Well Howard, if every Muslim threw a bucket of water on Israel, Israel would be DELIGHTED, since that’s one of the many elements that Israel has been killing off all of their neighbors, in order to control. (and they do of course).

So, since Israel controls all of the water, forcing the native occupants of the area to die of thrist/dehydration/hunger..they obviously don’t HAVE a bucket of water to throw on Israel.

So, this is just more lies and rhetoric that you refuse to stop posting. Why is that?

Why do you think that we (at least those of us here in the US) care a whit about what Mottaki or anyone else in Iran says about Israel? We understand that for as long as Israel continues to oppress the Muslims in the occupied territories, this is going to be the standard complaints from any other Muslim nations, INCLUDING Iran.

EVERY NATION in the Middle East is THREATENED by Israel and Israel’s nukes. There is not a single nation state or territory in the ME, that has not (at some point in the past 60 years) been ATTACKED by Israel, and some have been attacked MULTIPLE times - by Israel.

The ONLY exception might be Iran, though certainly the US has attacked Iran, and we know that Saddam was in the habit of it as well. (attacking Iran that is).

So wise up Howard. As I said before, (and far too many times) this is RHETORIC from Iran, and maybe you can or should expect to hear it, for as long as Israel continues its abuses to the population of the Middle East. If Iran was actually interested in engaging in bringing any serious harm to Israel, they would have done it a long time ago. They haven’t.

So, this is talk, and it has nothing to do with us here in the West, UNLESS we wanna start talking about all of the assistance (including weapons) that the US provides to Israel, who then uses the stuff to attack everybody else in the Middle East.

Now in THAT respect, we ARE involved, but that’s about to stop. There is no logical reason for ‘we the people’ of the US, to continue allowing our own blood and treasure to be used to help Israel perpetrate crimes against humanity.

That would make us a sponsor of State Terrorism, and that’s against our own laws, as well as the laws of the international community.

So, we simply have to stop doing this criminal behavior, and providing assistance to Israel for their criminal behavior.

The UN is going to have to do their job as well...neglected after all of these years. The entire international community has an obligation to prevent and punish crimes of genocide, and we’ve pretty much failed in that effort, since the inception of the Genocide Convention, nearly 60 years ago. The biggest failure of that Convention, (and the world response to such atrocities) has been the genocide perpetrated by Israel against the peoples of the Middle East, INCLUDING Christians and Druze, and any other NON-Jewish peoples.

Until Israel stops the genocide, or the world community forces them to stop it, the rhetoric from the Muslim world will continue. That should be a no-brainer.

No, I don’t wanna bet on Israel’s intelligence over the intelligence of the US and the IAEA!

Why would anybody with a brain cell be willing to trust Israel’s ‘intelligence’ on ANYTHING!

And, what does that have to do with US? Iran isn’t bothering us, and Iran isn’t producing any nuclear weapons. So why did Olmert have to come all the way over HERE, to issue his threats against Iran?

We’re not HAVING IT anymore. Israel is NOT going to run our country, and bleed us dry of all our blood and treasure! That’s why Israel’s puppet Dick Bush and all the rest of the PNAC thugs, are on their way out!

Iran is NOT a threat to US, but there are many things that ARE! A ruined economy, a crumbling infrastructure, and and a demoralized popultion that can barely pay attention, let alone pay anything else.

Let me repeat. Iran isn’t BOTHERING US, and we have other things to concern ourselves with.

And let me repeat this too...Israel is NOT RUNNING NOTHIN’ HERE! This is the US of A, NOT ISRAEL. Love it or leave it, and we care not where you go!

We can’t AFFORD you Israel. We can’t afford to feed, house, clothe, educate ourselves! Why in the hell does anyone think we can or should ‘afford’ to support Israel in their own created misery?

GO HOME OLMERT! We are in the middle of very important business here right now, and you are not welcome. You are no more welcome here, than I would be there. So...LEAVE, and take Dick Bush with you.

Mr. Olmert, what’s the Yiddish word for “hypocrite?”

The world’s worst-kept “secret” is the fact Israel possesses (by some estimates) a hundred nukes already. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! (Except in this case, the kettle isn’t even smudged; that is, Iran has no nukes at all!)

Then there’s that nagging problem that you have produced ZERO EVIDENCE (!) that Iran has any nuclear weapons program whatsoever!!!

Go ahead--state your case to candid world, to paraphrase Jefferson.

Iran has a weak army, a navy that is little more than a coast guard, and an air force that is grounded most of the time for lack of parts. Their GNP is about on a par with Norway and Denmark.

Iran has attacked no one in over 200 years. Iran allows intrusive inspections of its nuclear facilities, as signatories to the NPT (a treaty, btw, which Israel refuses to sign). Iran’s leaders have consistently denied they have any nuclear weapons ambitions whatsoever, considering such weapons to be against their religious beliefs.

At this point, what can they do to prevent an attack by Israel or the US? Why are you so hell-bent for war?

C’mon, Ehud--state your case! What are you REALLY up to?
