U.N. Agency: Iran ‘Stonewalling’ Nuclear Inspectors

Iran’s nuclear program is once again raising concerns among members of the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), who claim in a new report that, despite earlier signs of cooperation this year, Tehran is leaving key questions unanswered about possible plans to ramp up its uranium enrichment capabilities by the end of this summer.

BBC:

“Iran has not provided the agency with all the information, access to documents and access to individuals necessary to support Iran’s statements [that its activities are purely peaceful in intent],” the IAEA report said.\

“The agency is of the view that Iran may have additional information, in particular on high explosives testing and missile-related activities which… Iran should share with the agency.

An unnamed “senior UN official” in Vienna told Reuters news agency:

“We have not got substantive answers and we could have gotten those earlier. It’s up to Iran [now].”

Gregory Schulte, the chief US delegate to the IAEA, said the report had detailed a “long list of questions that Iran has failed to answer”.

Your fertilizer argument works well for me. It´s abundantly clear who the aggressors are.  When I read these stories about Iran not adequately answering to the IAEA, I was also extremely suspicious of this UN Official.  Could he be someone the Administration paid off to spread the current propoganda?  Everyday when Bush speaks in his discombobbled way, no matter who he´s addressing or the topic of his talk, he takes time to demonize Iran.  It´s like listening to a skip in a record (I still remember those audio discs) that plays over and over and over and over….........very annoying but no relation to the truth.

Considering the Blood thrist of this administration, the Blood Lust of Mac & Hillary and the Sociopathic demonic agenda & stratedgy of such ‘Christian ’ terrorists as Hagee & Parsley- I woul not leave myself open to ‘inspections’ and future Unprovoked attacks. The Preempetive strike againt Iran has not just been BushCo rhetoric- but also fueled and Preached by meglomaniac at the Pulpit of these heretical “mega churches”(Corps in cloth). funny how Mac does not cut the ‘Pastors’ loose when they call the Catholic church a Whore- but immediately push them out when their real doctrines are Shown regarding their USE of Isreal as a Means to THE END!
And Hillary jumping to use Nukes to “Obliterate Iran’ when it has been shown they do not possess any WMDs that could serious topple Isreal (have far more Nukes & better military then any other M.E country- such an atttack would be suicide for Iranians- even without OUR help)
this Drum beat to attacking Iran has an underlying Philosophy which constitutes a Serious National and Interantional Security Risk For ALL!
Mac is an Idiot if he thinks WE do not know that Hagee has been Presching this ‘Armegeddon’ BS for Decades and that He knew full Well when he BEGGED for his endorsement. And Hillary Proved she never had to walk into his ‘Mega church’ to be converted!
Both make my skin Crawl- Just like Hagee et al and Cheney when he slithered out of the’Shadows’. these are some Dangerous Twisted MF’ers who must not only be stopped, but prosecuted for placing US in Grave Danger!

Humm…I’ve had the same question for years now. That little problem nation doesn’t have to bother with all of these requirements for documents, declarations, inspections, the IAEA, the UN Security Council, or any of that inconvenience, seeing as how they won’t even commit to the Non-proliferation Treaty, nor will they admit (formally) that they have nukes, even though they’ve had them for over 20 years (at least).

Now I had decided a while back, that if I was ‘advising’ Iran, I’d suggest that they just give the appropriate notice and withdraw from the Treaty, since that is their right as well. Of course that’s a rash move under the circumstances, since they would only set themselves up for immediate attack if they did. Not only that, but in the terms of what the Treaty is supposed to accomplish, (the PREVENTION of the spread of nuclear WEAPONS) it is in Iran’s best interest to stay in it. It is supposed to PROTECT non-nuclear weapons’ states from attack by others, and Iran is surrounded by nuclear armed states. Pakistan, India, and Israel all come to mind.

When will the world boycott that little problem nation and put the same pressure on them that is being place on Iran and N. Korea.

•  “Gregory Schulte, the chief US delegate to the IAEA, said the report had detailed a “long list of questions that Iran has failed to answer”.

Except of course, nobody says what these questions are, which leads us to interpret that theyÂ’re still trying to prove a negative. But, if we look and read further, the issue is the same as itÂ’s always been. TheyÂ’re still trying to find something from THE PAST activities of Iran, to use as some reason to continue the accusations, as well as the justification for the sanctions. Punish now, and keep looking for reasons as they go along.

•  “At the same time that Iran is stonewalling its inspectors, it’s moving forward in developing its enrichment capability in violation of Security Council resolutions,” he told The Associated Press.

Now of course this is the US guy talking, so he’s calling it a ‘stonewalling’ of the inspectors on the part of Iran, even though Iran has handed over hundreds of documents as well as the required paperwork, and allowed inspectors on site, and even though the IAEA admits itself, that they have no reason to disbelieve what Iran is claiming. In other words, the info on the docs matches the operation on the ground. Iran say they have X many now, and will have Y many later.

Meantime the US guy claims that Iran is ‘moving forward’ in violation of UNSC resolutions, -resolutions that the US bullied the rest of the SC into issuing) without admitting that these resolutions are a violation of Iran’s right to enrich uranium, under the NPT.

It’s such a typical US imperial position. Back to my favorite example, with an addition. I have the right to purchase fertilizer for my garden, or to even make my own in the composter. So I do, (make the fertilizer in my composter…I did do this for a long time) but the government (encouraged by my neighbors) tells me I can’t make the fertilizer for my garden, to grow my food, even though the neighbors and the government know that I have a perfectly legitimate right to do this, and my neighbors have been making their own fertilizer (or purchasing it from the government) for ages. They tell me that I cannot do it, because I might have the ‘intent’ to use the fertilizer to blow up my neighbors, even though my neighbors are the only ones who currently have that capacity, having already turned their fertilizer into weapons.

But, I assure them (the government and the neighbors) with all sorts of records and allow them to check out my composter, and my garden, and all the rest of my property, and itemize all of the things that IÂ’ve used from my own property, to put in the composter, to make the fertilizer. They agree that it all matches up, but they still wanna know about some fertilizer that they think I was PLANNING to make 5 or 10 years ago. Since I didnÂ’t make any then, I donÂ’t have anything to show them.

But alas, nobody believes me, so they issue a series of punishments that prevent me from doing other things that have nothing to do with my fertilizer, and in the meantime, I keep making the fertilizer, because I need it to grow the food in my garden, if I wanna eat an take care of my family, to make sure that they eat too.

Meantime, my neighbors, who have long since had the capacity to do exactly what they are accusing me of, (developing my fertilizer into weapons) and have been threatening to use them to blow up my garden and all the rest of my property.

The message is clear. The neighbors are saying that I donÂ’t have the right to grow food in my garden, using my own fertilizer, because they believe that IÂ’m not using it to grow the food, but rather that I will use it to make weapons to blow them up, even though IÂ’ve never blown up anything or anyone before, nor have I made any threats of such. All the while, they already have the weapons, and threaten to blow me up for trying to grow food.

Go figure.
