Brauchli
online.wsj.com

Wall Street Journal Managing Editor Marcus Brauchli is said to be leaving his post after 24 years at the paper—an unexpected development that media-watchers are attributing to conflict over new owner Rupert Murdoch’s plans for the newspaper.

Time via Gawker:

Brauchli (pronounced Brock-lee) started at Dow Jones as a copyreader in 1984 and rose through the ranks from foreign correspondent to global news editor, overseeing the paper’s successful Asian and European redesigns in 2005. He was named to the paper’s top job almost exactly a year ago, replacing Paul Steiger, who had held the job since 1991. Brauchli received a standing ovation in the newsroom when his appointment was announced and was viewed as someone who would safeguard the paper’s credibility in the face of Rupert Murdoch’s ultimately successful attempt to purchase Dow Jones.

As control over mass communications continues to consolidate into an ever decreasing number of media conglomerates, the scope and quality of discourse will continue to wither.  The greatest mistake was to place the essential democracy-sustaining function of information dissemination under corporate control.  Corporations to not exist to advance the public interest.  They exist to turn a profit.  It is far more profitable to throw in with power than to expose the deceits of those in power.  As observed by Noam Chomsky, in structure, the political counterpart to a corporation is a totalitarian state.

Americans will continue to be bombarded with propaganda unless and until we are prepared to remove power over the media from private hands and replace it with public control.

If you are a neo-conservative, you must be operating under the assumption that all is well and that the sky is not falling all around you. The problem with being this kind of person, is that the sky is falling all around not only you, but the rest of the world as well. The shrub and his cronies are at this very moment, enjoying the efforts of 8 years of total and complete mismanagement of the economy, 6 years of a war economy that is built upon lies and deceit that does not pale in comparison to the worst that any dictatorship has ever perpetrated upon its very own people, and also the credit crunch that we are now experiencing, all to do with the, “I’m in charge of the barn now and I’ll decide that my friends need not pay any taxes whatever,” syndrome.  No other administration in the history of the United States has abused the very people who elected that administration more than this one.  We, the American people are now faced with crises after crises because of the incompetence and malfeasance of a man whom we did not elect the first time and was certainly not elected the second time by the people of the U.S. How is history going to look upon an administration that is juvenile at best, miserably and without so much as a how do you do?  Surely, there are many other people that are better equipped and more adept at policy-making than the shrub. Yet the famously obtuse and overbearing “Christians” decided that the shrub and his merry band of thieves were “God appointed” for this time, so much so that they supported an administration that cares not one whit about their problems.  As for the lame duck presidency, more and more ideas and policies come out that will take years to undo and should the next 2 presidents fail to undo these strange and obscene policies, it will likely be disastrous for the world and all its inhabitants. I, can assure you that I for one will never vote for a Republican that espouses the kind of policies that have been perpetrated upon the world by the neo-cons and their ilk.  In fact, if it was ilk season, I would certainly go hunting, figuratively of course, for the ilk of this kind. We must demand from our Representative government, the kind of checks and balances that were instituted in the Constitution, we cannot stand any longer the “imperial” style presidency of a man or woman, who will not preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.  If you are planning to vote on personality alone, people think again about the precious vote that you possess.  We, the electorate must have a truly representative form of government, or we can most assuredly count on becoming a fascist government where “they” are the deciders and we blindly follow along without dissent and so much as a whimper of pain. Should this happen, I, most certainly will look to emigrate to where I can fade into the woods and not be found.

A recent in-house marketing survey revealed the WSJ circulation would skyrocket if the paper were softened, and printed on small perforated rolls.

No word yet as to Murdoch’s reaction to this disclosure.

Crazy dogs often chase their own tails.

Somehow, chewing on their own hind end, they can’t seem to understand that it’s not another dog, but themselves who they bite.

And I would say a prayer of thanks to what ever deity or deities have facilitated this wonderful turn of events, if I wasn’t focused on something more important.

Food shortages in Japan.

Can’t help but thinking this will be giving into the conservative agenda for more control of the msm. But if Brauchli would have the mind to stand up to the evil murdoch then he would surely be handed his walking papers.

This is web site to check out and purchase the dvd with the same name. Show it to people you know, pass it around because this IS information that sorely needs to get out to the public. And this is information the is NOT getting out to the general public.
This is a critical step to understanding the problems in this country.
The video can be seen from Information Clearing House ‘s web site but it is not the extended version and the quality is not that great. Audio is fine.
