In backing Barack Obama, Bruce Springsteen, left, urged voters to undertake “a great American reclamation project.”

Bruce Springsteen, the iconic musician of the working-class U.S., endorsed Barack Obama on Wednesday. The announcement comes less than a week before the Pennsylvania primary, in which blue-collar voters may play a significant role in determining the Democratic nominee.

The Los Angeles Times:

Bruce Springsteen, the rocker who made “Born in the USA” a signature of working-class pride, endorsed Democrat Barack Obama for president today.

“He has the depth, the reflectiveness and the resilience to be our next president,” Springsteen said in a letter posted on his website and distributed by the Obama campaign. “He speaks to the [America] I’ve envisioned in my music for the past 35 years, a generous nation with a citizenry willing to tackle nuanced and complex problems, a country that’s interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit, a place where ‘nobody crowds you, and nobody goes it alone.’ ”

Springsteen did not mention Obama’s Democratic rival, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, by name. But the bard of New Jersey, who has written lyrics about the economically devastated towns of the Northeast, seemed to challenge her recent criticisms of Obama for saying that working-class Americans are bitter about their financial hardships, and for fanning the controversy over Obama’s involvement with the fiery Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

“Critics have tried to diminish Sen. Obama through the exaggeration of certain of his comments and relationships,” Springsteen said in his letter. “While these matters are worthy of some discussion, they have been ripped out of the context and fabric of the man’s life and vision ... often in order to distract us from discussing the real issues.”

Billy Joel to support “change”.  You know the “ballad” about the shutting down of the PA. steel industry. The song laid out the “truth” of the outsourcing that has destroyed the PA. economy and moved those “examples of American ingenuity & prosperity” from our “proud” towns and cities, to the “unnecessary” PAST!!! Sometimes this stuff gets me so “down” that I want to scream from the rooftops...."Remember who we are”.  “We’re America” !!! The only question that continues to haunt me is..."How did we, as a nation, let it get to this”??  Stupidity?  Well, based on some of the bloggers found here commenting, yes (of course).  Unfortunately, as we “conspiracy nuts” tend to believe, the people who make their absurd arguments, are “part & party” to the deception.  They “pose” as one of us while “throwing” their B.S. at the various debates.  I can only hope, as I’ve already posted in the past, “POX” on them and theirs and the “wish” that only bad things happen to “punish” their ridiculous/absurd/non-productive comments & behavior.

Bruce’s endorsement is worth at least six Hillary misrememberings, and a dozen gaffes by Bill.

Five bitter super delegates, that is.

This is good Aegrus…

I had to laugh.."Bill from Marketing” eh? Reminds me of my time on the Corporate Plantation. Makes me feel pretty smug too, about not having to deal with any of these ‘Bills from Marketing’.

Besides, I always preferred Leroy from custodial services anyway. He just called to tell me he was ‘signing up’ for that colored fella with the funny name.

I always knew he was part of the smart crowd.

As for Bruce...I’m thinking his endorsement is probably worth at least 5 superdelegates. smile

who cares if springsteen endorses anyone?  who cares about what celebs think?  i mean seriously?  do they have a heightened sense of right and wrong? economics? world affairs?  or do they just have an album, or a tour, or a movie coming out this summer and are just trying to whore themselves out just a little more?

America?  More like ‘Amarketa’.

Endorsement fatigue sets in…

Bill from Marketing endorsed Hillary Clinton today. Bill gets a pat on the back and a call from the Clinton campaign congratulating Bill for his commitment to her campaign and asked, ever so glibly, if he knew any super delegates.

I don’t care anymore about who will vote for who! All I need to know is who I’m voting for! *head explodes!*
