Rampant Sex Abuse Alleged at Polygamist Compound

A grim picture is emerging from the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints compound in West Texas, where 416 children have been removed to state custody and 139 women have left. Court documents allege widespread sexual abuse of teenage girls who were married at puberty to much older men by the polygamist sect.

AP via Google:

The documents released Tuesday also gave details about the hushed phone calls that triggered the raid, by a 16-year-old girl at the West Texas ranch who said her 50-year-old husband beat and raped her. Days after raiding the compound, officials still aren’t sure where the girl is.

Officials have completed removing all 416 children from the ranch and have won custody of all of them, Child Protective Services spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner told reporters in San Angelo, about 40 miles from the compound in Eldorado.

Court documents said a number of teen girls at the 1,700-acre compound were pregnant, and that all the children were removed on the grounds that they were in danger of “emotional, physical, and-or sexual abuse.” Another 139 women left on their own.

The anonymous 16-year-old was arrested in Colorado. She was 32, NOT 16! This raid is definitely a witch hunt. It was unjust for Texas uthorities to rip these children away from their parents and I believe the kids shouldbe returned.
The news media ia full of shit in trying to demonize this church without any substantial proof. It’s called spin.
The organizer of this blog is a stupid idiot who should do more fact-checking before posting such an ignorant message. Heresay is NOT evidence and until solid evidence shows up, I consider this a total witch hunt in Texas.

For me the larger issue is one of isolationism.  Whenever people are isolated AGAINST THEIR WILL, abuse ensues.

Makes you wonder about that wall we’re building doesn’t it?  The things that have happened here, as horrific as they are, might seem like small potatoes in the future.  But in order to build that wall they’ll keep blaming the Mexican people until the gig is up and they’re outed.

You are not alone that is exactly how I see it. The “religion” is just a tool - a way of controlling through fear, young girls, by pedophiles and it has nothing to do with Mitt Romneys’ church

Ok all you retards who just spew shit out of their mouths and onto their computers without doing any research, do you realize that mormons have dissassociated themselves with polygamy since the US made it illegal in the latter half of the 19th century?

of course not, most of you hotheads here on this site post your un-researched, un-substantiated OPINIONS without any thought of making them legitamate.

Associating off-shoot groups that at one time in the distant past were a part of another group is pure ignorance, a common trait among a lot of the ‘bloggers’ on this site.

Its like saying that al qaeda is a legitimate sect of islam, when in fact it is not and is denounced by the millions of honest, good muslims around the world.

the same goes for mormons.  i know a few, and none of them are polygamists, and all denounce the ‘flds’ as being wrong and unlawful, and be sure to dissassociate themselves with that awful group.

so i guess the lesson is that religious extremism in any form is dangerous and wrong, but should not be unfairly associated with those people of faith that live good, honest lives.

but on this site i’m not surprised really with anything i read.

Is it just me, or doesn’t anyone else see that this “religious compound” is just a place for older men to get way with pedophilia, physical pornography, rape and violence against young women? It is obscene, disgusting, immoral and we were horrified when we found it happening in Bosnia, not so long ago.  No “faith-based” excuses or rationales should be allowed here. And it has NOTHING to do with Mitt Romney. And don’t give me any crap about civil liberties or freedom of speech or religion. What has been going on here are un-civil atrocities.

I’m not so sure this would matter to Mccain or anyone else. It’s not like this hasn’t been happening for decades, and while it might be most notable among Mormon sects, they aren’t the only crazies who indulge in this.

Remember what’s his name…Oh, David Koresch? (sp?) Down there in Waco? Remember when Janet Reno decided to send the feds in for him, and primarily because of her concern for the kids?

And remember how everybody ripped her a new one for ‘interfering’ with their ‘civil liberties’?
No doubt it turned out to be a tragedy, but it’s always a damned if you do, and a damned if you don’t. This time, no calls of ‘civil liberty’ violations for rescuing all of these women and children.

Meantime, it continues to happen all over Utah and over places. How often do we hear about it, except for the occasional woman who does get away, and attempts to help others, through great personal risk of their own?

Just about never.

Nobody ever cares much until the stuff is exposed, and then it depends on the political climate of the times, and how the ‘law enforcement’ decides to react, and how the media spin it.

Hey, we can bash Mitt for being a flip-flopper, but he was the only Republican candidate who married once and stayed married with no sex scandals. Mormon maybe, but his real love is money.

So Mitt Romney’s VP candidacy is offically toast.

McCain wouldn’t touch him w/a 10 foot pole—much less consider him after this.
