A box of the suspect ammunition supplied to Afghan forces by an American firm.

The United States’ chief supplier of ammunition to Afghan forces is under investigation for a number of potential violations that give the unfortunate impression that America is less than fully committed to its fight against the Taliban.

For example, AEY Inc., which is led by a 22-year-old and a masseur, is reported to have supplied 40-year-old ammunition that may have been illegally manufactured in China.

New York Times:

But to arm the Afghan forces that it hopes will lead this fight, the American military has relied since early last year on a fledgling company led by a 22-year-old man whose vice president was a licensed masseur.

With the award last January of a federal contract worth as much as nearly $300 million, the company, AEY Inc., which operates out of an unmarked office in Miami Beach, became the main supplier of munitions to Afghanistan’s army and police forces.

Since then, the company has provided ammunition that is more than 40 years old and in decomposing packaging, according to an examination of the munitions by The New York Times and interviews with American and Afghan officials. Much of the ammunition comes from the aging stockpiles of the old Communist bloc, including stockpiles that the State Department and NATO have determined to be unreliable and obsolete, and have spent millions of dollars to have destroyed.

Dick Cheney is God

If the Afghan’s want real bullets and some real help discover oil.We will be their faster than George W Moron drops to his knees to pray when confronted with a difficult decision.Funny when he gets answers it is always in Dick Cheney’s voice.

Moldy ammo kills too!

If the U.S. has to give up ammo to a foreign nation as aid, so be it.

They better say thank you.

RE: THIS IS JUST SAME O, SAME

Jim are you sure God really appointed G.W. with this “clear vision” or is it just the deluded buzz from the cocaine and booze that G.W. just indulged in telling him so?

SOS

The only thing the USSA is committed to is having a select few good old boys making boat loads of money.

The current wars are just the latest convenient excuses for BAU.

FROM THE OFFICE THAT BROUGHT YOU.....

Another excellent job of supplying inferior products for which the American taxpayers foot the bill was brought to you by one the Bush administrations private contractors. G.W. says, “My goal is to out source and privatize everything at greatly inflated prices for the best of inferior merchandise, so all of my rich friends become richer and we can finally bring the American people to its knees. Mission accomplished.” “I’m George Bush, and I approve this message.”

this is just same o, same o

Why would anybody be surprised that we have spent our tax money to buy dud bullets and guns to send to a fight? This administration put into place by fundamentalist Christians with a single issue to force themselves on the rest of us, is just business as usual. No bid contracts years after the Iraq war was started by this administration on lies and manipulation of information, No oversight and clear understanding that large amounts of tax payer money and Iraqi money have gone to enrich coporations and individuals who have brought the country to this tragic conclusion, the loss of our democracy for coporate irresponsibility and lying and cheating and murder and torture. Oh we can’t say we torture because God appointed George W. Bush with a clear vision and he says what is not torture and so torture is not torture anymore. What a load of dung.
