Harry Reid: ‘It Will Be Done’

Harry Reid
wikipedia.org

In a cryptic conversation with a Las Vegas paper, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the Democratic nomination would be resolved before the convention: “It will be done.” “Magically?” the reporter asked. “No, it will be done,” Reid repeated. “I had a conversation with Governor Dean today. Things are being done.”

What that means is anyone’s guess, but it’s no secret that the Democratic leadership is worried about a protracted battle between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

(h/t: Political Wire)

Las Vegas Review-Journal:

While Democrats across the country are anguished about the bitter fight for their presidential nomination, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid doesn’t appear to be losing any sleep over it.

Asked about it last week, Reid said he remains convinced the nominee will be decided well before the August national convention. He wore a serene and mysterious smile.

But Reid isn’t one for lengthy explanations. The conversation went like this:

Question: Do you still think the Democratic race can be resolved before the convention?

Reid: Easy.

Q: How is that?

Reid: It will be done.

Q: It just will?

Reid: Yep.

Q: Magically?

Reid: No, it will be done. I had a conversation with Governor Dean (Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean) today. Things are being done.

That’s all the Nevada Democrat would say about it.

Yes Cyrena, You’re right I’m afraid.

I think I have fallen into that vortex as I described and lately feel that all hope is lost and I just can’t help myself.

No need to worry thought, a momemtary depressed state that I will bounce back from and continue the fight!

Take care and keep up the spirited posts!

You mean Bill Clinton gushing about McCain front and center on McCain’s election website isn’t an endorsement?

If it was a “Republican” would it be considered an endorsement?
What does it say that it is Clinton?

Sue Cook,

This is the first really truthfully intelligent post I’ve ever read from you.

Congratulations. I’m all for boycotting media as well, but only the corporate media. I really DO want continued access to the stuff we REALLY need to know about.

Again, it’s not the idea of ‘media’ per se, that is the problem. It’s what the mainstream corporate media is ‘selling’ that creates the problem.

So, we have to be careful what we wish for. Without ANY MEDIA, (like the professional journalism of old) we would be even more ignorant than we are now. And, that’s saying something.

So keep that in mind. In fascist states of the past, like Germany, Russia, and fascist states of the present, (like China) the STATE controls what the people get to read or hear as ‘news’. There is a huge agency/ministry set up to make sure that every single word allowed to the masses is controlled by the government.

Now, we aren’t there QUITE yet, but like I said..we have to be careful what we wish for. Or, maybe it would be better to suggest that we have to learn how to seperate the truth from the spin and the bullshit, without throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

For you to NOT vote (and exercise your right to intelligent decision making) isn’t really an ideal way to voice your freedom of decision. It’s more like a kid stomping its foot, or throwing a tantrum.

Look, I just wish this thing would just get over like right now!

I wish the media would find themselves something worthwhile to do.

I mostly blame them for feeding the fire.

Let’s face it, a lot of people are fickle, which means they’re minds are afloat in a vortex of weightless abyss and they eat sleep and devour all this nonsense from the media and therefore easily swayed, their heads bouncing back and forth like a bobble head looking for any sort of assurance and hoping that what is being said about their candidate simply isn’t so.

This he said, she said back and forth nonsense is getting real old, fast.

I’m at the point of not voting at all! And this my friend is a problem that is becoming oh so real with a lot of folks.

What a circus, what a joke!

I say let’s just boycott all media outlets!

Sen. Barack Obama should make a unifying offer of the vice presidency to Sen. Hillary Clinton which should be accepted without condition. This will demonstrate the candidates’ willingness to compromise and put America first; Hillary will almost certainly be the first woman vice president and Barack will gain a well connected adviser and effective running mate. The Democratic party will then be much stronger, being freed from the current devastating infighting, to unite against the Republicans who plan a very spirited campaign.

..to the “it will be done” bit and the picture of Reid..for a second, as I was scanning TD..I thought it was a picture of a bored again evangelist yapping about some evil thing he was trying to pull..then I read it all..(thanks Cyrena, it was interesting)..and I STILL have that odd feeling..like the chimp’s use of biblical code in his screaches..“it will be done”..thy will be done..

hope it’s done….and fucking soon.

First of all it wasn’t the Clintons that injected racism into the election it was the media taking everything out of context that Bill Clinton said.  Obama enjoyed this when it was the Clintons being targeted over race, and loved it when the race card was working in his favor.  Second of all the Clintons did not make Obama go to a church for 20 years that spewed hate against Jews and white people, he did that on his own.  Obamaholics are always spinning things rather then looking at the facts.  Obama goes to a church that hates white people without denouncing it, takes his wife there, gets married there, takes his children there, has them baptized there and Obamaholics still believe he didn’t know what was being preached by the Rev. Wright his personal mentor.  If the American people believe that Obama is ignorant of the preaching that went on at the Trinity Church then we have to assume that Obama either slept though the sermons or was just to dumb to know that they would be controversial, either way it doesn’t bold well for Obama’s claim on great judgment.  Please answer this question if Clinton went to a church that preached hatred of any got married there took her children there had them baptized there wouldn’t she be labeled as a racist, and denounced in the Democratic party?  Obama is getting a free pass on being a racist because he is black, and that should not be tolerated.

Overall, I have faith in Howard Dean. Reid, he’s not a bad guy, but the decision belongs to Dean. Some people might take into account the decision on Michigan and Florida, but I don’t think those will be as bad as the Republican spin machine wants to frame them as.

I think this whole situation is fluff. Henry isn’t going to anoint Hillary Clinton the candidate. No matter what people think about the Nevada Senate Majority Leader, he is not stupid. There will be a settling of dust.

The media created this idiotic concept of “Will you vote for another candidate if yours doesn’t get the nomination?” polling to drum up division amongst the ranks. The idea is nonsensical at best. Putting either Hillary or Barack next to John McCain, head on, will be devastating to Johnny Boy’s campaign. People will not vote Republican this year unless they are stalwart supporters of the failed neo-conservative doctrine. Get over yourselves.

Humm,

This was a helpful and infomative article, at least for me, since I read the entire linked piece. I particularly appreciate his common sense stance on making birth control available, despite his opposition to legalized abortion.

Their right about one thing though, Dems are anguished, (or at least some of us are) about the horrors of this protracted fight, and the kitchen sink smear antics of the Clinton campaign. For many of us, (and I admit that I’m among them) it comes as a shock to see the low depths to which the Clintons would stoop, in order to gain the POWER.

I DID expect problems for Obama as a result of the racism that remains so insidiously alive in America. I just never expected the Clintons to stoop to it, or incorporate that hatred to use to their own presumed advantage. (no, I’ve never believed that either of them started out ‘racist’, but they’ve sure tapped into the racist mindset that continues to exist in America)

So yeah, we’re pretty ‘anguished’ and while I cannot begin to imagine how Harry thinks this is all ‘fixed’ (or can be), we’ll see. I just want them to stop the torture. (in this case, the psychological torture of the democrats in general).

Harry is a fool.  He is more interested in lining his own pockets than in anything else.  No one in the party has the will or cojones to force anything, and no one on the planet has the ability to stand between Hillary and Bill and their power-mad ambitions.
