Ferraro Resigns, Clinton Apologizes

She’s sorry: Hillary Clinton greets guests at Wednesday night’s National Newspaper Publishers Association forum, where she expressed regrets about Bill Clinton’s and Geraldine Ferraro’s racially inflected comments.

After a good 48 hours or so of pandemonium triggered by her racially charged comments about Barack Obama’s candidacy, a still-not-sorry Geraldine Ferraro resigned Wednesday from her post as “Honorary New York Leadership Council Chair” for Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Meanwhile, Clinton herself said she did regret Ferraro’s comments ... and then some.

AP via Breitbart.com:

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton did something Wednesday night that she almost never does. She apologized. And once she started, she didn’t seem able to stop.

The New York senator, who is in a tight race with Illinois Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination, struck several sorry notes at an evening forum sponsored by the National Newspaper Publishers Association, a group of more than 200 black community newspapers across the country.

a Goldwater girl.  It’s the new “southern strategy”.  There’s enough winking going on in the Clinton gang to make it look like they’re in a dust storm.  Now I know why they call him “Bubba”.

By the way, why don’t we know anymore about all the black women Bubba’s been with?  Andrew Young is proud of it.  I bet Bubba is too.

Anybody else have the feeling that the Republicans know about all of itl?

Hillary can’t get the nomination this year so we’ll have to wait until she runs in 2012.

HillBillary is behind and knows the only way to beat a candidate who has her beat on charisma, voter appeal, and war record is to get down and dirty. She has been doing it by proxy for three months, having Bubba slur Obama’s heritage, having African Americans do it so it would be acceptable, now having Ferraro have this ‘slip of the tongue’ to play the race card. She lets her lackies turn this into a nasty election playing on old prejudices and hate, while she insulates herself while backing Herr Bush’s Iraq play and campaigning as an agent of ‘change’. Bullshit. Both she and the real candidate, her disgraced husband, should be ashamed of themselves.

The Clinton Camp is using Rovian tactics. That means two things:

1) Attack your opponents greatest strenghts.
2) Accuse your opponent of your own sins.

To take a lead from tactic #2 (which was deployed when Clinton’s aide went to assure the Canadian government that Hillary’s condemnation of NAFTA was just public posturing - after which the Clinton campaign blamed Obama for approaching the Canadian government and saying what they in fact had said themselves)…

Geralding Ferraro is now ‘stating her mind’, claiming that Obama is some kind of affirmative action hire. Let’s translate that. Rovian tactics dictate that Clinton accuses Obama of Clinton’s sins. Now who of the two is the former first lady? Who has gotten by on name recognition, and who’s lead disappeared when Obama campaigned and Hillary Clinton’s name recognition disappeared as a factor?

I think Ferraro’s accusation that Obama is some kind of affirmative action hire, is supposed to inoculate Hillary Clinton from the accusation that she is only there because of Bill Clinton’s name.

Ferraro can then lie and go “Look, poor me, they are accusing us of what they practice themselves”.

Because if you are looking for the privileged candidate, the candidate with the least number of years in elected office, you’re looking at Hillary Clinton.

Ah Mike..

You give them both WAY too much credit. I have yet to hear bush come up with anything CLOSE to a half-apology.

And this was the best that Hillary could do?

Oh no...She’s got to go…

She’s wasting our time and money, and people are dying all over the place, as they have been for the past 6 years now, thanks to her and hers.

It’s like DO THEY READ THE NEWSPAPERS?

Why does Obama keep getting a free pass? Why is any inquiry, or challenge to his record, or unsavory associations, met with accusations of racism? Jeramiah Wright, an obvious racist and anti-Semite, endorses, supports and praises Farakan … Obama is a lot more connected to Wright than a mere case of guilt by association. Obama himself has described Wright as his spiritual advisor and mentor of 20 years. Obama was going to have Wright speak at his announcement to run ceremony, until he realized it would be a bad political decision. Any fool can weigh 20 years of involvement against a momentary half hearted denouncement, motivated by personal political ambition. The left and the media has fashioned Obama into a sacred cow, who is above reproach. Obama’s record, and associations have become like the Emperor’s new clothes, even when the future of the world is at stake!

To use her quote: “If [Ferraro] was a black [wo]man, [s]he would not be in this position.”

Too bad.

She did the right thing by apologizing. She did the pathetic thing by taking two days to do it. That in and of itself makes it seem insincere and issued for the simple fact that she had to, not because she wanted to.

Well if Hillary is going to apologize, she should ask Ferraro to knock off her bigot recruitment program.

Funny she regrets Ferraro’s statements because I regret the whole Hillary campaign.

Your old politics are dying, Hillary. You are gone. You have lost. America will move forward. Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States of America.
