Rush Limbaugh’s said it, and now Charles Hurt from Rupert Murdoch’s Big Apple tabloid, the New York Post, is joining in the chorus of conservatives who worry that Sen. John McCain would betray the GOP’s core right-wing base if he inches any closer to the White House.

New York Post:

McCain’s appeal to independents and even the left is what makes him such a powerhouse in the general election.

It is also precisely what has so many in the Republican base so wildly fearful of handing him the keys to the kingdom.

If the Republican Party expands “because we have a candidate who’s going out trying to attract liberals by being like them, then the party’s going to be around but you won’t recognize it,” thundered radio king Rush Limbaugh.

The Republican Party will “be over as it exists now,” he warns.

Nit Romney, man of many contradictory beliefs and former corporate raider, appeared before the Conference of neofascist conservative lunatics today to tell them what they wanted to hear…just like “Ronnie” McCain is doing. Ronnie will now be focusing on how truly conservative he is when it’s his turn to address this revolting mob. These lunatics will never forget the first modern doofus who stooged for them: The overated Ronnie Reagan.

Those of us who endured Reagan down through the incompetent buffoon now hanging out in the White House know what conservatism is all about: Low taxes (for the wealthy and corporations), cut spending (for safety net programs, medicare and medicaid, but not for corporate welfare, subsidies and bailouts),undermine but preferably destroy labor unions, close or severely limit access to the courts to the average American and their trial lawyers seeking to hold corporations responsible for their defective products, get extremists onto the Supreme Court, and get rid of minium wage and allow the free market in charge of the Social Darwinist ideologues to control wages. I would hope that the blue collar working stiffs who called themselves Reagan Democrats learned the hard lesson of having a corporate stooge like Reagan and Bush II in the White House. When Ronnie McCain grovels this afternoon, millions of us will need to bring a supply of barf bags.

To millions of us, any clown beating his breast and boasting of being a real conservative and what that implies to us is about as appealing a character as a child molester.

If Obama reaches his hand across the aisle to these people he will be pulling back a stump.

No kidding. The Left is stocked with the most vicious and mean-spirited hypocrites of any position on the political spectrum.

“Progressive” my ass.

I don’t think it is a joke to treat fellow Americans like human beings instead of demonic partisans. Compassion saves.

McCain is such a funny candidate. The establishment would love a Hillary-McCain battle because they are essentially the same after you discount John’s war experience, which would get him the election.

Not to worry: http://www.thinkprogress.org.  A lurch to the left is not on the McCain agenda.  He’s got his head so far up their asses he won’t be able move until they do.  This is what the military hero thinks of his fellow vets.
