The idea of any news organization associated with conservative Australian media baron Rupert Murdoch backing a liberal Democrat (egad!) such as Barack Obama may seem strange, but upon closer inspection the New York Post’s endorsement for the Democratic nomination reads less like a bid for Obama than an effort to avoid four more years of “Team Clinton” in the White House.

New York Post:

Obama represents a fresh start.

His opponent, and her husband, stand for déjà vu all over again—a return to the opportunistic, scandal-scarred, morally muddled years of the almost infinitely self-indulgent Clinton co-presidency.

Does America really want to go through all that once again?

It will—if Sen. Clinton becomes president.

That much has become painfully apparent.

Bill Clinton’s thuggishly self-centered campaign antics conjure so many bad, sad memories that it’s hard to know where to begin.

Suffice it to say that his Peck’s-Bad-Boy smirk—the Clinton trademark—wore thin a very long time ago.

Far more to the point, Sen. Clinton could have reined him in at any time. But she chose not to—which tells the nation all it needs to know about what a Clinton II presidency would be like.

Obama is the answer to Bushism and the idiocracy of the Administration’s disastrous policies of past 8 years that governed America. He will be able to restore the true image, reputation once America enjoyed in the world as a champion of Democracy and Freedom. Obama is truly a visionary leader, a virtuous man who is able to deliver the promise and bring much needed change. We are fighting two wars, have not even captured Osama Bin Laden, economy is in crisis, gas prices are going up on a daily basis and only large oil corporations seem to be doing very well. Americans need a new start and re-think of foreign, domestic, economic and energy policies. Obama represents the change, the new force that will fight for every American and defend the small guy.

Oh man, here we go again. Is there no shame at all to your blatant propaganda and narcissism Chalmers? I love the part about how the New York Sun ‘picked up on YOUR Obama/Odinga connection.’ Yep, it’s YOUR ‘connection’ all right…in your mind only.

Chalmers, do you really believe that anyone (besides you and the cult followers of the Rev. Sun Moon) actually read the New York Sun Times?

So..Obama has ‘deep ties’ to Kenya, and knows the political landscape?

How Chalmers? Please explain that for us. The ties that I’m aware of are ‘connected’ to the fact that Obama’s biological father is from Kenya. That same father became divorced from Obama’s mother close to 30 years ago, and returned to Kenya at the time, and did not maintain any regular contact with his son. The same guy has now been dead for at least 16 years, and I’m honestly not sure whether or not Barack has ever even been to Kenya, though if he has, it would have been as a tourist. (not unlike my own visit there, from a couple of decades ago).
So, how does that connect him Chalmers, to the political landscape of Kenya? My biological father is from Southern Louisiana. He moved to California when he was 18. He’s been dead for 20 years. I haven’t been to Louisiana since my grandmother died. (she actually outlived him). So, do I have deep political dies to the landscape there? Nope. I never did.
My grandfather was an Indian from Canada. He’s been dead for over 50 years. I’ve visited Canada recently; Vancouver actually.  My grandfather is from the southern portion of Ontario, but he’s buried in Ohio. See any connection there? Maybe I’m a terrorist, eh…because of that trip to Vancouver? I even delivered the lecture in French. Yep, I must be a terrorist right; With ‘deep ties’ to Canada and the whole ‘political landscape’? Yep, that proves it.

Meantime, with every post, you PROVE that you’re seriously and dangerously psychotic. And, the more ridiculous you get with this stuff that you make up in your delusional mind, the more people realize that you’re psychotic, and dangerously so.

Help is out there Chalmers. What’s that old commercial from the now discredited association, (so many of them)...

If you don’t get help at Charter, PLEASE..get help SOMEWHERE. I just thought of that because I had a friend who was employed as a counselor at one of their ‘locations’. He would always respond to that commercial by saying..Get help ANYWHERE - EXCEPT Charter! Because, if you aren’t already crazy, you will be after they finish with you.

Well, not to worry, since Charter has ceased to exist. But really…get help SOMEWHERE…

Now Now Maani,

Reasonable people CAN disagree, and how many times have I tried to explain to you, that this blog just isn’t ABOUT you, or me? What’s with the foolishness of claiming that Lousie “shouldn’t let Cyrena see her coming to your defense?”

This is what I mean about you being a shit starter. Fortunately, as Louise has made clear, she thinks and speaks for HERSELF, as do I. She’s been posting here for longer than I have, and she’s always diplomatic, and intelligent in her posts. She’s never called you a dope, (that I’ve seen) and I wouldn’t expect anything like that from her.

Oh the other hand, I’ve at least called you a moron and more, though I’m trying to do better on that. Louise indicates that she thinks you’re ‘intelligent’ and while that may in fact be true, I still think you’re a shit starter and a propagandist. Like I said, reasonable people can disagree, or it could just be a matter of her seeing only the ‘good part’ (the intelligence) and me noting that you use the intelligence to spread innuendo that takes on a decided misrepresentation of the truth/facts.

Now, as far as you being a propagandist, you’ve already explained why you are, while giving yourself an out at the same time, (you sound like Mukasey – double talk king). Yes, it IS an ‘intent to deceive’ and that’s what you do, via incorrect information, such as your claim that Obama was violating campaign and Democrat Party rules by airing a campaign add in Florida, when in fact we discovered, (thanks to Conservative Yankee) that Obama had nothing to do with that, nor did the Democratic Party in Florida. The media, (CBS and apparently ABC) choose to run those ads, and it would appear (at least these days) that they can do anything they want.

THIS is EXACTLY the kind of thing that I’m referring to, when I’ve suggested in the past, that you run a negative campaign, since it has been consistent for you to demonize Obama, in your efforts to push support of your own preferred candidate, and you consistently take it BEYOND the realm of just demonizing HIM, but criticizing and/or otherwise defaming anyone who even SUPPORTS him.

You’ve done it with dozens and dozens of people, most recently the Kennedy’s. And of course there are all of the posters, (me included) who haven’t even NEEDED to show any ‘blind’ support for Obama, but instead just pose a few questions or positive reactions to something, and they come under attack or ridicule from you as well.

Then, when somebody, (like me) exposes it bluntly, (as I’m likely to do) then we become the ‘bad guys’ or the ‘bad girls’, only to come under further attack, as you attempt to deflect the original points of the discussion…like you’re doing again here.

Because, you can’t get it into your head, (any better than Chalmers can) that this isn’t ABOUT YOU.

So, I’ve made it a point, time and time again, that you run a negative campaign. Instead of trying to tell us about all that’s ‘right’ with your own candidate, (HRC), you do your best to make the ‘competition’ look bad, proving the point that Jackpine made, that it’s only about ‘winning’ and not at all about what might be best for the common good.

And, you guys give yourself away, each and every time.

So, stop with the ‘shit-starting’ OK? There’s never anything ‘unclear’ in any of my posts, and Louise is real clear in her thinking as well. Nobody benefits from the little catty and/or bitchy comments that you post. We’re grown folks here, and there’s no time or energy for a couple of silly grown men who have nothing better to do than sit around like gossipy old maids, cluck-clucking about those you disapprove of, probably just because you’re jealous.

Grow up and get a life.

Amie A…

What a terrific essay here. I’m very appreciative, as I believe many others are, who really don’t care if Obama might be green, or even orange.

As a Native American and an African-American woman, (there’s even an Irish great-grandparent, but I don’t usually count him wink - it just starts to get confusing) we don’t much care what color the ‘change’ is packaged in. We just want our country back in the hands of ‘we the people’.

Doesn’t seem like much to ask, but then…there must be a reason why it’s been so damn long since we’ve had it that way.

Meantime, I had NO IDEA that Waters was supporting Clinton. (You mean Maxine, right?) All I can say is OMIGOD!! I’m very disappointed, but I admit that I’m not as surprised as I should be. Maybe I just can’t be shocked anymore. This is really awful though. It also explains how things have come to be the way they are.

I’m looking for some change. Willing to count on Obama to bring it about. We need a whole new batch.

Had there not been a two term separation between Bush and Bush, Bush II never would have been given the time of day. Well there has been a two term separation between Clinton and possibly another Clinton, but memory is fresh in a lot of minds. The notion that we may end up with a repeat of the horror of the Bush, blank, blank Bush administration scares the hell out of people.

That may not make a lot of sense, but few if any people really pay a whole lot of attention to anything that does. Of course Bill’s garbage will never go away. And really in the overall scheme of things his garbage isn’t that big a deal [I can hear the gasps] But will serve well as a cover should the RNC once again manage to control the outcome.

That’s the cycle that needs to be broken!

A different face, a fresh face, even an inexperienced face between the two might break the cycle. Or not. But it’s awfully hard to overlook the fear on peoples faces when they talk about this.

In short, I think a lot of people, Independent, Dem and Repub want to stop what appears to be a growing trend toward familial passing the baton, right now!

As I mentioned, I like Bill. His is the kind of personality hard to dislike. Particularly if you happen to meet him in an unscripted and unexpected moment. But here’s a bit of interesting news. My brother, who I consider to be a really smart and informed guy, met Bush in just such an unscripted and unexpected moment and to his surprise, he liked the guy. He exclaimed in utter disbelief, “I couldn’t help it!”

That has been the experience of a lot of people. Which has worked well for the Bush administration, because it makes it easier to buy the “It’s all Cheney’s fault” notion.

I just watched Bill stumping for Hillary. She does not have that inherent ability to light a fire when she talks. Bill does. I sat there and listened and realized, if he were running I would probably vote for him! However, I need to point out were Bush running my brother most definitely would not vote for him. So no matter how much someone may instinctually like someone else, in love and war and politics, reality does play a role.

Clinton might make a great president! But if she ever does, it wont be because she’s related to Clinton, because actually she isn’t! Just one more strange wrinkle in this whole situation. My fear is, since the majority of voters and the media still absolutely refuse to acknowledge the cheating that put Bush in office twice, it will be all that much easier for them to cheat again! And my fear is because they have been smearing Clinton for years, once again people will accept the cheat!

And then there’s the war. That damned Bush war!

And finally, “Peace.  (in our time…)”
How wonderful would that be? smile

Interesting connection between Obama and Auchi, the Iraqi billionaire who wired over 3 million dollars to Rezko:

“An undeclared $3.5 million (£1.8 million) payment from a corrupt Iraqi-British businessman has landed Barack Obama’s former fundraiser behind bars.

The payment, disclosed in court papers, is the first time that Mr Obama’s long-serving bagman Antoin “Tony” Rezko, a Syrian immigrant to the United States, has been linked to Nadhmi Auchi, the Iraqi-born billionaire who is one of Britain’s richest men. The relationship is a potential embarrassment for Mr Obama, who has made his opposition to the Iraq war a central plank of his campaign.

Court papers describe Mr Rezko as a close friend of Mr Auchi. The two are involved in a large Chicago land development together. But it is unclear how long the two men have known each other or whether they were linked before the 2003 Iraq war. Neither side would discuss their relationship.

The Times has, however, discovered state documents in Illinois recording that Fintrade Services, a Panamanian company, lent money to Mr Obama’s fundraiser in May 2005.

Fintrade’s directors include Ibtisam Auchi, the name of Mr Auchi’s wife. Mr Auchi’s spokespeople declined to respond to a question about whether he was linked to this business.”

Unbelievable. You know, I was diehard Clinton for 8 years and before Hillary announced running, I was already praying she would. Just to get good ole Bill back in the House. However, in the past month, I would vote republican before I voted for Hillary or Bill!! You can say media has turned words of Bills but fact he did say Obama was playing the race card, as many of you indicate on this board. Unbelievable, what do you think Bill did for 8 years! He courted minorities BIG TIME! If a African American endorses Obama, it has to be about race, it can’t be, we think he is the best candidate or he is qualified and experienced. Yet, a woman can endorse Mrs. Clinton and even say it is because she is a woman and that is okay. Double talk people. Quit following the media and do your research. Waters( National Black Caucus) endorsed Clinton–did you do the research to find out the William B Clinton Foundation was a contributor to their last fundraiser. Timing, awfully funny. Go to the William Clinton Foundation website and see the companies that have partnered with them–that is back door buying of endorsements. The Clintons would not get my vote at this point because 1) why yell foul when you THINK people are playing the race card–yet when you did it–it was okay, 2)The both of them were in the White House for 8 years, why didn’t they get this stuff done then. Bin Laudin was planting his people in the US and training them while we American’s were short sighted and consumed with who was going down on the President and what truly classifies the term sex–have we forgotten, 3) she says experience, what experience–as First Lady, she didn’t do anything but damage control of Monica and Bills mess. You mean New York or Watergate–have we forgotten that scandal that was swept under the table. If African Americans were stepping up to vote just because of race then we would have had one in long ago, have you forgotten Jesse Jackson , he was excellent speaker, Al Sharpton (he is advocated for Minorities for decades and decades), one of their challenges were getting the minority votes in. Could it be so many are backing this one because we are tired of the traditional politics with lies, deception, deceat—we won’t new eyes, fresh perspectives, CHANGE, HE COULD BE GREEN, bring about change, peace, unity, a better economy, better health care–(if Hill can do it now–why didn’t she have it done–8 years ago). We seek character, man of his word. It would be easy to say, you Clinton supporters only support her because she is female, but maybe you want to hold on to what you think is secure because you have been there “done that”, you may not like change. I understand but understand this, I AM 50% WHITE, 50% BLACK (IRISH AND AFRICAN AMERICAN) AND I am running to change, grasping for change, inhaling change, I am not running to Obama, but I am joining with him to say lets do this, not because he is African American BUT because he represents all, not just women and children but the elderly, men, families, people without titles, without categories, plain and simple people. Be informed and if after you research and now what each candidate represents then you choose who represents what is important to you but for me and my African American family we will walk with the rest of the Americans that support change and honesty!!!

Seriously, though.  I think Doug was making a not-quite-there connection between your comment that “Obviously the New York Post has endorsed Obama to push more into the Clinton camp ... duh.  If nobody can read between the lines and catch that bit of truth, then perhaps we all need to give up right now and go back to keeping track of who’s ahead on American Idol” - suggesting that those who don’t see this are “dopes” - and the fact that I apparently missed it as well.

Also, with regard to defending yourself against charges of being on party or candidate payrolls, etc., trust me: this is a standard and favorite tactic of some people here who would simply like any opposing viewpoints to be stifled.  How very American of them!  LOL.  I have already had to defend myself against charges of being on Hillary’s payroll (I am not, and have never even campaigned for her), being a propagandist (though “propaganda” requires “intent to deceive,” which has NEVER been my objective, even if my facts were wrong), and being an agent provocateur (though my political history is about as far from that as one can get).  So don’t take those kinds of accusations personally.  You are one of the nicest, most intelligent people here.  Just keep posting your beliefs and opinions.

Finally, I have a quibble with your comment that Hillary should have waited four more years.  Why would that have made any difference vis-a-vis the “Bill baggage” she carries?  Sadly, that baggage is NEVER going to go away, so it wouldn’t matter WHEN she ran.

Peace.  (in our time…)

The Clinton-Obama contest will be interesting. Many dynamics in play.

A major challenge facing Obama is the fact that his dad was black and Obama is so-called “mixed-race.” If this can be dealt with in Americans’ minds, we will make significant progress and Obama might even win against McCain.

Food for thought in the article ...

First, I think the notion that because I am a woman I should automatically support any woman for anything no matter what, is a bit silly. To say if I don’t it’s because I’m jealous only proves the absurdity of your statement ... duh

But, if we are to follow your logic, then obviously you will support Obama just because like you, he is a man. And if you don’t, then obviously you are jealous of him, or something like that.

Do you see how truly silly your logic is?

Probably not.

Second, I don’t recall ever calling Maani a dope. I sincerely hope your saying that I did is not taken as fact. But then I feel quite sure Maani is far too intelligent to accept as fact everything you say.

Third, as far as Bill is concerned, actually I like Bill. Always have. But the man does have a bit of bad baggage. And Hillary would have benefited from putting a few more years between that and the election.

However, all things considered, at least you didn’t turn this post into an attack on Israel, like you usually do.

#By papeehara, January 31: ”...ODINGA / OBAMA….. Obama’s Man Plans Ethnic Cleansing…”

It would be nice if you could provide some links in future, papeehara. There are a number of questions we all might be interested in.

One is whether Obama eventually plans an alliance with KENYA along the lines of the current US alliance with ISRAEL? Or is he just a ‘fall guy’ - or would he rather see an Islamic takeover in Africa to rival the slave-trading era?

Obama’s ties to Kenya run deep. He knows the political landscape. Why would he back such a violent, dangerous man who made a pact with the Muslims to institute sharia? Obama’s bias for his fellow Luo was so blatant that a Kenya government spokesman denounced Obama during his visit as Raila’s “stooge.”  http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/01/obamas-oginga-o.html

The New York Sun picked up on my Obama/Odinga connection and ran an excellent editorial, The Kenyan Connection here…   http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/01/obamas-troublin.html

Any weakening of democracy in Kenya will have a domino effect across the continent, threatening infiltration of Islamic fundamentalist elements into any unstable state. Obama’s questionable ties with violent supporter, Raila Ondinga, with allegiances to Islamic fundamentalists is a frightening mistake of enormous import…   http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/01/jihad-in-kenya.html

But the one thing I just came across is Obama’s anti-religous anti-Christian speech in which he refers to Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount which he derides as “...a passage that is so radical that it is doubtful whether our own Defense Department would survive its application” !!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPUe6T8RVXs You can add that to “I don’t oppose all wars” and “the crucible of the sword” to make your own conclusions about how intrinsically evil this person really is….....

The radical right is already dropping its cancerous propaganda at Obama. The question is whether they are still relevant without the malevolent Rove leading the pack.

Rove, the master of propaganda and smear, has already started. His recent column in the Wall Street Journal cast Obama with black stereotypical images, including lazy, trash-talking, given to misstatements and exaggerations, and sloughing off playing basketball.

We also have had steady diets of it from aging neo-conservative commentators like O’Reilly on Fox News, whose market share is declining. O’Reilly physically attacked Obama staffers and derided Obama’s minister as well.

The king of radical right radio and leader of the ditto-heads, Rush Limbaugh, has been sporting a parody song called “Barack the Magic Negro”

And the shrill voice of others, including Scott Rogers last summer, who claimed that Obama plays the Race Card. Obama had the gall to criticize Bush for his Katrina recovery efforts and his failure to defuse a “quiet riot” among blacks. This could lead to rioting such as the Los Angeles Watts’ riots, Obama said. Speak of a stretch that only neocons can make: Rogers said this LA riot reference indicates that Obama approves of race riots.

Sometimes I wonder, how can people be so easily mislead, then something like this post followed by these comments comes along and reminds me how.

Obviously the New York Post has endorsed Obama to push more into the Clinton camp ... duh.

If nobody can read between the lines and catch that bit of truth, then perhaps we all need to give up right now and go back to keeping track of who’s ahead on American Idol.

And why would the New York Post do that? That should be obvious too. Because they firmly believe, if Hillary is the democrat candidate the republican candidate will win. Or at the very least, should the outcome be manipulated and controlled to make it appear a republican is the winner, accepting the lie will be easier if the dem candidate is a Clinton.

I am truly sorry Hillary is stuck with all this bad Bill baggage. Had she been using her head, she would have waited four more years before joining the fray! As it is, she probably hasn’t got a chance against the “hate Clinton and women in general” republican machine. And has pretty well destroyed any chance of running again in four years.

But, I could be wrong. smile

I am hearing too many, even in progressive media sources, saying that Clinton lied about Obama’s position on the war. My put is that there is nothing racist in what the Clintons said though their NY AG supporter made a racist proclamation and referring to Obama’s drug experience could border on it when coupled with drug culture stereotypes.

Obama’s Man Plans Ethnic Cleansing

“... nothing gives a clearer indication into what drives Obama than his tacit support for the brutal opposition leader Odinga in Kenya.. Aligned with Islamists, Raila Odinga has signed a pact to institute sharia when he takes power after the current bloody coup.

Odinga is a Marxist who reportedly has made a pact with a hard-line Islamic group in Kenya to establish Shariah courts throughout the country. He has also vowed to ban booze and pork and impose Muslim dress codes on women—moves favored by Obama’s brother. (MORE HERE)

He is tearing through the country using murder and rape as his weapons of choice. His ‘opposition party’ is opposed to democracy and free elections. Refusing to accept the result of the national election,  Odinga will break the country, beat, “cleanse” rape until this depraved savage gets the power. Raila Odinga rejected a presidential invitation for talks.

The left wing media has been played by brilliantly by Odinga - this is part of his strategy. Dick Morris helped orchestrate that when Odinga hired him. ODM election strategy was overseen by Dick Morris

“Conservative Australian media baron Rupert Murdoch backing a Democratic candidate”  is hardly out of character because he did exactly the same thing with Australia’s new prime minister Kevin Rudd several months before their federal election last year. If Sheer bothered reading his own blogs or doing some research, he would know this.

But then, perhaps the New York Post’s endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama reads less like a bid for Obama than a plea to avoid having a woman as president. Yes, its the guys again (the boys’ club)........

So try letting “conservative Australian media baron”  Rupert Murdoch’s own Australain flagship newspaper tell their version of the story themselves:-

Stop bagging Hillary - When Obama won the Iowa caucus, the first vote in the nominating process for presidential candidates, I watched to see how he would behave. Would he follow Churchill’s great dictum: “In defeat defiance, in victory magnanimity.” No he did not. In victory he showed vanity and vindictiveness. Vanity in his clear belief that what the flatterers and fans were assuring him was the truth: he was a political messiah. And vindictiveness in his dismissive and arrogant treatment of Hillary Clinton in the last New Hampshire debate.

He showed the same vindictiveness and lack of magnanimity after his victory in South Carolina. The first part of his victory speech was a deeply unpleasant attack on the Clintons. No graciousness there. And how did he handle defeat in New Hampshire and Nevada? With a combination of denial, petulance and the launching of a successful campaign to persuade the American media that the Clintons were engaged in a campaign of lies about him and, even worse, in a campaign of surreptitious racism.

Let’s look at what happened…....  http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,23140008-7583,00.html

You call this an endorsement? Looks to me like the Post’s editors simply took another opportunity to take shots at the Clintons.

Well, at least you picked the right candidate for your non-endorsement. So Barack’s a little “unseasoned”? Maybe. I can think of another Illinois lawmaker who served only one term in Washington before ascending to the presidency: a guy named Abraham Lincoln. He did just fine.

Let’s face it: If Americans thought experience was the sine qua non for the Presidency, we’d have Dodd or Biden leading the Democratic pack. But what we want instead is leadership and fresh ideas. And Barack

An endorsement from the NY Post is right up with with an endorsement from the Enquirer.

Ha ha ha!  Robert Scheer is so desperate to attack Hillary that he has stooped to posting a totally unoriginal story the New York Post is running in its lame atttempt to anoint Barack Obama as their candidate of choice at the top of his website (www .robertscheer.com aka Truthdig.com).

Interesting to note that on p.3 of the “top stories”, BO’s grinning face and the “Post endorses Obama” caption is right alongside a print version story of “Cop Sex Ring sold teen girls!”. Such a sleaze, uhh.

What a strange recommendation, though, that BO “should be their choice on Tuesday” although “we don’t agree much with Obama on substantive issues” but “at least Obama has the ability to inspire”. So typical of the ‘bet each way’ equivocating of the male sexists when pushed into reality.

But, “finally, Sen. Clinton stands philosophically far to the left of her husband, and is much more disciplined in pursuit of her agenda” is something that the NYP acknowledges also but cannot seem to comprehend as it most probably reminds them too much of anti-Vietnam war demonstrations in their own pathetic minds to be palatabe with their beer.

also ‘endorsed’ the legendary Debbie Wardley (the first Australian female commercial pilot) in 1980, after Ansett Airlines pulled all sorts of dirty tricks to disqualify her for the job. He made a phonecall, she got the job. So the old fart does get it right occasionally.
