FBI to Investigate Mortgage CrisisPosted on Jan 29, 2008The FBI has announced an investigation into the practices of more than a dozen companies related to the subprime mortgage crisis that has destabilized the American and global economies. The Securities and Exchange Commission has already launched investigations of its own, and though it’s nice to see the authorities crack down on improper practices, it would be nice to have some oversight before there was a crisis. BBC: The FBI is investigating 14 companies embroiled in the sub-prime mortgage crisis as part of a crackdown on improper lending. It did not identify the companies but said the investigation encompassed developers, sub-prime lenders and investment banks. FBI officials said the agency was looking at instances of accounting fraud and insider trading. One way to jump start the mortgage industry is to make your house cheaper to sell by selling it yourself. These days there are tons of free fsbo sites just for this purpose. A good example of this is http://www.primefsbolistings.com where you can list your house for free through the end of 2008.

Oversight, responsibility and accountability in business and/or government - what the hell country are we talking about?
Certainly not the US of A because those words have no meaning here.

As mackTN, Cyrena and others point out, the investigation is a sham that will bear no fruit.
What we don’t learn is that everytime neocons are brought into the government, the forces of greed and de-regulation flow more freely. The upshot always is fraud, profiteering, and negative impacts on the people.
Even after Reagan’s S&L;fiasco which cost the taxpayers dearly, another, even worse, user was elected/appointed/allowed to rig elections. He brought other users and exploiters aboard his yacht of evil inviting the warmongers and subprime pirates to fleece us even more.
Like vultures who feed on the living, all leave the ravaged scene sated and unaccountable.
Four years or eight years later new and more menacing mutants take their place.
When will we stop the cycle?

Well….the site is still not working quite right for me. I just lost my whole post. Anyway, as long as we’re on the topic of “terrorists”, check out this article I was linked to from the “Cannonfire” site. Hmmmm….......

Yours is the honest and real inconvenient truth, mackTN.
Terrorists shouldn’t even be viewed as the mortal enemy to America and democratic principals. Their vain and vicious actions only hurt their cause and embolden America to be better and stronger people. Terrorism cannot destroy America. Fear mongering, partisanship, FISA, Patriot Acts and the devaluing of our true American principals can bring us to ruin, though.
The War on Terror’s existence is a slap in the fact to Americanism, and is the true submission to our enemies abroad. I wish more people understood this fact.

Ya got that right, MackTN. AND…they won’t identify the names. Of course…
So, in all honesty, this isn’t going to do anything, because they’ll stay protected. If I had any money, I’d bet that each and every one of these can be traced back to either Texas, or some other connection with the Gangster regime. Why can’t we know who the companies are?

Bush mounts an unjustified invasion of Iraq for fear of the potential threat to American lives.
But companies like Enron and these subprime con men have done more damage to this country and its citizens than any terrorist.
