Thompson
nytimes.com

Fred Thompson was supposed to be the political savior of his party, but instead he sputtered and fizzled his way through a disappointing few months of campaigning. After poor showings in every primary and caucus to date, Thompson has decided to call it quits. Next up, Rudy Giuliani?

New York Times:

He played to loud applause at the National Rifle Association and picked up endorsement of anti-abortion groups. But rival candidates like Mitt Romney and Rudolph Giuliani rushed to refashion themselves as conservatives, changing a number of long-held positions that were more socially moderate.

That caused Mr. Thompson no end of frustration, but he never found a way to persuade Republicans that his bona-fides entitled him to their vote. And he drew considerable criticism for his flagging, flickering energy—some of his walking tours lasted just 10 or 15 minutes, and he often took few questions.

He drew just 1 percent of the vote in New Hampshire (fewer than the number of write-in votes), and finished fifth in Michigan.

Here’s one person that doubts that Guliani would be a great diplomatic leader and excellent commander in chief. I’d venture to say that it’s not difficult to find others who share this view, all one need do is look anywhere folks get information outside the MSM.

Guliani is a one-dimensional, black and white thinker as is made obvious by his penchant for evoking 911 in his campaign. He has little else to say, other than vote Guliani or give in to the terrorists. Reminds me of someone with whom we’ve had about 7 years too much experience with.

I could bite the bullet and vote for Mitt, but I am holding out hope for a Giuliani/Thompson ticket.  While he had arguably the best platform and ideas, Thompson just didn’t have the outward drive and dynamism that Rudy can bring to the top of the ticket…

But can’t you see Thompson embarrassing the hell out VP candidate John Edwards in the summer debates?

Giuliani is hardly out of it (assuming he wins in Florida) and I believe a Giuliani/Thompson ticket has the best shot at winning in November.

This country needs serious tax and spending cuts—and it needs them now.

And is there anyone who doubts Rudy would be a great diplomatic leader and a excellent Commander of Chief of the US Military?

It is a SAD day for REAL Conservatives as Fred Thompson drops out. Maybe, he’ll win by dropping out and coming back as John McCain’s Veep candidate. We certainly don’t need Mitt (FALSE Conservative) Romney or Rudy “9/11” Giuiliani.
