Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., responding to closed testimony from the CIA’s acting general counsel, John Rizzo, said it appeared that the officer who destroyed evidence of “enhanced” interrogations was acting against orders. Jose Rodriguez, the official in question, is asking for immunity before he tells his side of the story to Congress.

AP via Google:

WASHINGTON—The CIA official who gave the command to destroy interrogation videotapes apparently acted against the direction of his superiors, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee said Wednesday.

“It appears he hadn’t gotten authority from anyone,” said Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., speaking to reporters after the first day of closed testimony in the committee’s investigation. “It appears he got direction to make sure the tapes were not destroyed.”

[...] The man at the center of the controversy, Jose Rodriguez, had been scheduled to appear Wednesday, but his demand for immunity delayed his testimony. Rodriguez was the head of the CIA’s National Clandestine Service, the CIA branch that oversees spying operations and interrogations. He gave the order to destroy the tapes in November 2005.

Line blurring overused terms “apparently” & “appears” are attempts to commit unnacountability.

Someone destroyed the tapes. The order came from up the line. Find out who, waterboard witnesses if necessary, and put all geniuses ‘thinking outside the box’ in a box.

The ‘NO ACCOUNTABILITY VOUCHER’ does not exist.
Note to Congress: Subcontract Tape Destroyer Assignment To Nazi Hunters.

Why are we not getting any news coverage on this!  Folks, make sure your children understand how important it will be for a new generation of investigative reporters if our Democracy is going to be saved.  It’s clear the current group has absolutely no sense of patriotism and responsibility to dig out the truth and force the masses to open their eyes to what is going on here.  How sad…..

All of the focus has been on the destruction of the tapes. Once all the hoopla about the fact that they were destroyed has passed, you can bet the news cycle will move on. Torture… let’s not go there. Zubayda possibly telling his interrogators the phone numbers of three Saudi princes and a Pakistani intelligence operative who will corroborate his claims an attack on lower Manhattan was known, and these people mysteriously dying of unlikely causes shortly thereafter, well… let’s not go there either. The tapes were destroyed… that’s enough for today children…
