A promotional photo of the Kabul Serena Hotel.

The Taliban has taken responsibility for the bombing Monday of Afghanistan’s only five-star hotel. The luxurious Serena Hotel, in Kabul, is popular with diplomats and therefore makes for an attractive target.

New York Times:

The Interior Ministry said at least six people were killed and at least six were wounded in the explosion at the Serena Hotel, including two foreign officials it did not identify. It was not immediately clear if any of the dead included foreigners.

If the Serena is a five-star hotel, doesn’t it at least have surveillance cameras? I’m sure that they could have solved this case easier if the luxurious resort had something installed like in some Niagara Falls Hotels I’ve recently visited.

Apparently, the Australia embassy was there. They have some troops in Afghanistan too. How do they know, then, that “the intended target had been the Norwegian foreign minister, who was meeting at the hotel at the time…”???  http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,23054598-601,00.html

Note that according to the Afghani representative   in this video clip,   there was another explosion after the suicide bombing???
