Mr. Bush Goes to IsraelPosted on Dec 20, 2007
For the first time during his presidency, in the final year of his final term, George W. Bush is headed to Israel and the West Bank. Given that he’s even less popular in the Mideast than he is at home, massive security preparations are under way. In addition to going to Israel and the West Bank, Bush will make first-time visits to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

By GW=MCHammered, December 25, 2007 at 12:18 pm # Was there any media coverageWas there any media coverage or White House announcement offering answers about our hero’s visit? When our outsourced war with Iran and/or Syria and/or Libya will transpire? What Bush-Cheney companies are awarded overpriced duties to be paid by taxpayers? How many foreign mercenaries we need to fight this next eternal battle? When our contrived mortgage crisis tent-city fallouts will be moved to the Palestinian border? When the Border Patrol will be pulled from our borders for the good of the North American Union? When Social Security and 401ks will be squeezed from the MC and poor? Seems surprisingly quiet. Don’t make me click some Fox (Enquirer) News link!

By WR Curley, December 22, 2007 at 9:41 am # part 2Israelis, naturally, don't seepart 2 Israelis, naturally, don’t see it that way. They despise our complacency and our smug sense of superiority. They imagine they manipulate our foreign policy to conform to their interests. They may well be right. But without the continued, largely uncritical support of the US, Israel would collapse utterly into the fractious politics of the region. The Jews would resume their ancient, biblical diaspora, all the way to Coral Gables and beyond. We, you and I, living as we do at the pinnacle of human material aspiration, commanding, each of us, personal resources unimagined by the maddest of dope-crazed fantasists in the long pre-industrial history of humankind, we need strategic control of the energy resources of the Mid-east. Without those resources, our arch-consumerist house of cards collapses utterly. Collapse is inevitable, of course. Petroleum resources will collapse soon enough, and, as it is the fiduciary responsibility of the current Masters of the Universe to stifle any challenges to near-term profitability, there will be no viable alternatives any time soon. So suck it up. We are building an impregnable network of fortresses all over the Mid-east. The Global War on Terror (absurd locution) is multigenerational. The anti-colonialist passions in the region, re-enforced through generations of continual oppression and privation, will continue to bedevil western exploitation. And the West will continue to create alliances of commercial convenience, and to marginalize or destroy potential competitors, for the whole of your foreseeable future and mine. So W is winging out to the oil patch. We’d better wish him godspeed and a safe flight home. WR Curley
By WR Curley, December 22, 2007 at 9:36 am # Control of the oil reservesControl of the oil reserves of the Mid-east is, in fact, a vital US security interest. A handful of western multinationals are currently contracted to extract the resources of the region. Their contracts are signed by a handful of petty despots whose several authorities extend no farther than the willingness and the ability of the US to protect them. They are all continually pressured by democratic and theocratic anti-colonial national liberation movements. Without the active presence of massed US military resources in-country, none of these anachronistic autocrats would long survive. Absent the indigenous despots and their networks of nepotism and patronage, the US would find itself obliged to encamp many hundreds of thousands of our own young citizens on foreign sands to hold competing local interests at bay. Exxon-Mobil has no use for democracy. The orderly transactions of trade demand orderly and predictable systems of political control. Exxon-Mobil would far rather deal with vainglorious princes and tyrants than with fractious, disorderly, and unpredictable multiparty politicos. (In Iraq, we have chosen to put local tribal despots - who govern through traditional kinship structures, nepotism, and patronage - on payroll. Some rude semblance of order has resulted, allowing the Bush/Co lackeys at the Pentagon to claim progress toward stability. But the strategy is an undeniable retreat from any pretensions to democracy.) This most favored nation, our US of A, consumes 25% of the world’s energy resources. Given our druthers, the evidence points to an insatiable appetite for utterly limitless per capita consumption. The national response to the unprecedented capital surpluses built up in the Clinton years was the SUV and the monster commuter pick-up, squandering disposable wealth on useless expanses of shiny sheet metal running at 10-12 MPG. And the 5,000 square foot tract home with a 72 degree steady-state interior climate built on arable land at an hour’s commute from our places of employment. And still we crave always bigger and badder and more. This takes limitless supplies of crude. Near term, there is no alternative. All my adult life, I’ve been hearing politicians drone on about liberating ourselves from dependence on “foreign oil”. First off...there is no such thing as “foreign oil”. On the global market, there is oil. Period. Second...The national imperative - yours and mine - is not to avoid non-American sources of crude; it is to own and to control those sources. We do this contractually through the devils we know; we prop compliant despots into positions of command over those resources, and we back their authority with F-16’s and Hellfire missiles. We continue to amass forces in permanent bases in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the UAE. This is why Bin Laden hates us. Pentagon strategists have been persuaded, from the infancy of the Zionist state, that Israel is an outpost of western culture and a proxy military presence allied to US interests. The Jewish state is valued as a sort of dry-docked air craft carrier on permanent lease to the American commercial imperium. She is our attack dog, forever straining at the leash. We don’t need to use her. The threat is sufficient. end, part 1

American standing in the strip? I do not believe you. We do not even go to the strip! But come here and I will personally drive you there and film you so people know what I said is true. You are just like the other stupid Americans pretending you know life here. You know nothing about it and you are in not a position to judge. And you are a hypocrite too. You say Israel should give back land. Land people purchased but you ignore that. Go give back your land to the Native American Indians you really took from and stop trying to divert attention to Israel when you are the real criminal.
By Kwagmyre, December 21, 2007 at 5:45 pm # Posted by Robert:"Click a photoPosted by Robert: “Click a photo to enlarge and see a description http://www.jkcook.net/MachsomIndex.htm” The reason these checkpoints are so pernicious is because regardless of how “generous” the Israelis think they are in creating a Palestinian state, they will STILL remain. That’s why the 95% offer made by Barak in 2000 was such a joke!
By BeauPeep, December 21, 2007 at 2:11 pm # The Decider Guy is soThe Decider Guy is so popular, it will take 8000 heavily armed Israeli stormtroopers (oops, I mean brave IDF troops!) to keep his adoring fans back. Kinda hard to get Palestinians to sign the loyalty pledge required to get in to any public event that The Decider Guy takes part in. Sorry, no pledgee, no tickee! Must be wonderful to be the most beloved leader in his Bizzaro World. Good to know that the rest of his life will be spent cowering behind the ivory towers he’ll be infesting, for fear that apoplectic mobs will Mussolini him...all in a very loving manner mind you, for he is The Decider Guy, aka Dear Leader, and he is BELOVED BY ALL! Just ask any of the 24 percenters who still think he’s doing a GREAT job!
By weather, December 21, 2007 at 1:39 pm # This is the part inThis is the part in the screenplay when Ugly meets with Deceitful and they announce that they’re on the verge of yet another historic agreement for Peace. Carter went through that charade and every President that followed. Peace is simply not profitable enough for Israel and for them more is never enough. Israel is a land mine of bad karma - the problem is, its in our driveway. Merry Christmas
