CIA Withheld and Destroyed ‘Severe Interrogation’ Tapes

Thomas Kean, left, former chairman of the Sept. 11 Commission, and former Vice Chairman Lee H. Hamilton at a Washington news conference in November 2005.

The New York Times has discovered that the CIA destroyed “at least two videotapes” showing agents using severe interrogation techniques on terrorism suspects. Those interrogations were part of the evidence in the official 9/11 investigation, yet the CIA never told the 9/11 Commission of the existence of the tapes or transcripts. The agency cited a “serious security risk” for destroying the evidence.

The New York Times:

Mr. Moussaoui’s lawyers had hoped that records of the interrogations might provide exculpatory evidence for Mr. Moussaoui—showing that the Al Qaeda detainees did not know Mr. Moussaoui and clearing him of involvement in the Sept. 11, 2001, plot.

General Hayden’s statement said that the tapes posed a “serious security risk,” and that if they were to become public they would have exposed C.I.A. officials “and their families to retaliation from Al Qaeda and its sympathizers.”

“What matters here is that it was done in line with the law,” he said. He said in his statement that he was informing agency employees because “the press has learned” about the destruction of the tapes.

General Hayden said in a statement that leaders of Congressional oversight committees were fully briefed on the matter, but some Congressional officials said notification to Congress had not been adequate.

“This is a matter that should have been briefed to the full Intelligence Committee at the time,” an official with the House Intelligence Committee said. “This does not appear to have been done. There may be a very logical reason for destroying records that are no longer needed; however, this requires a more complete explanation. “

Staff members of the Sept. 11 commission, which completed its work in 2004, expressed surprise when they were told that interrogation videotapes existed until 2005.

“The commission did formally request material of this kind from all relevant agencies, and the commission was assured that we had received all the material responsive to our request,” said Philip D. Zelikow, who served as executive director of the Sept. 11 commission and later as a senior counselor to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Man, you are really really delusional aren’t you?  You are asking me if i have looked at the evidence?  Here, i will list 2 things that you have gotten fully and utterly wrong.  Follow up with your admissions that you are either blindly following the lies of the 9/11 truth movement, or you are intentionally lying.

1) “There are like 6 cameras on top of the Pentagon pointing right to where the passenger jet would have hit, and numerous others they’ve confiscated and never released, and the only video they have release is a 3 frame clip that shows a blip and an explosion.”  Bullsh*t.  All video from that day has been released.  And there were no cameras at the pentagon looking at the area that got hit.  You don’t know that because you get your info from people who don’t want you to know that it was released.  Here, go educate yourself. http://www.debunk911myths.org/topics/index.php?title=Pentagon_security_video

2) “I mean if you can seriously look at the Pentagon with an open mind and notice the complete lack of evidence of a jet liner flying into the building aka. no people, no luggage, no wing section, no tail section, no engines, no fuselage, nothing to show that a passenger plan flew into the side of this building”  Again, you have no idea what you are talking about since the people who are lying to you want you to remain ignorant, that way they can make money off you.  Could you please respond to the fact that they were able to identify all but one passenger from the remains and the dna found at the pentagon site?
http://radiology.rsnajnls.org/cgi/content/full/223/1/7?vol=223&fp=7&view=full
(warning, there are things like FACTS and SCIENCE in the article at that link, they might scare you, but in the end, they are your friend.)

How about all the plane parts?
http://www.debunk911myths.org/topics/Pentagon_debris

And how about the 103 people who saw the plane hit the pantagon?
http://wtc7lies.googlepages.com/911pentagonflight77evidencesummary

Okay, now your turn.  Please remember to admit that you either a lier, or just ignorant about the facts i have shown you.

Thanks.

RE:  NILOROTH, Find some real physical evidence that it was an inside job, then we can talk.

Niloroth, I’m sure you’ve looked over most of the videos and read the many books detailing the massive holes that hallmark “The Official 911 Commission
Report”.  It’s kinda hard to get concrete decisive evidence when the goverment will not release any of the videos around the Pentagon (and there are many), destroyed recorded audio tapes that air traffic controllers made right after the 911 hijackings, removed invaluable evidence from the World Trade centers right after the crash without proper testing and analysis of the materials, and continue to gag people (Sibel Edmonds) and apply “States Evidence” claims on everything that might cast a glimmer of light on what really happened on that day.

I mean seriously, if the few things that I’ve listed above (and there are many more) don’t paint a picture of someone trying to cover something up, than you must be a little more naive than most.  Use your head and use some critical thinking for once and you might actually see the truth, instead
of being lead by the likes of the Bush administrations puppet mainstream media and yes man that surround him.

I mean if you can seriously look at the Pentagon with an open mind and notice the complete lack of evidence of a jet liner flying into the building aka. no people, no luggage, no wing section, no tail section, no engines, no fuselage, nothing to show that a passenger plan flew into the side of this building, and still say that their official story jives with what your head is telling you, than there is no help for you.  There are like 6 cameras on top of the Pentagon pointing right to where the
passenger jet would have hit, and numerous others they’ve confiscated and never released, and the only video they have release is a 3 frame clip that shows a blip and an explosion.  I mean come on…  Once again States Evidence… you know because actually releasing a video showing what they have claimed
would really leave the United States valuable to more attacks.

Oh, and lets not forget that numerouse hijackers that were supposedly a part of 911 have been found alive and well.  They really haven’t explained this, and this would negate their whole “Official 911 Commissions Report”.  Ridiculous, preposterous, and a crime to everyone in the United States and in the world.

This front page New York Times article has a disturbing feature.  It entails how Orwellian terminology can downplay the depravity of this administration’s criminality even as it is being exposed.  In this instance it occurred when the New York Times used the words “severe interrogation techniques” in place of the word “torture.”

“Ex-Italian President: Intel Agencies Know 9/11 An Inside Job
Man who blew the whistle on Gladio tells Italy’s largest newspaper attacks were run by CIA, Mossad.”

Actually, he did not blow the whistle on Gladio, he was just involved in it, and admitted to it only after Giulio Andreotti made it public.  Cossiga then resigned before his term was up because of impeachment threats against him.

Seriously, can the 9/11 truth movement get ANYTHING right?  This guy is a crackpot, and looking to find the spotlight again.  Get over it.  Find some real physical evidence that it was an inside job, then we can talk.

Everything that passes through the Exec’s or his government’s lips constitutes mis-info.  Us dupes fall for each new trick.  This little story is no scoop, it’s just the appearance of one.  In fact, the concept of torture is being applied incrementally to introduce the American public to its reality and plant the seeds of fear of the government.  Importantly, this crisis brand of mass psychology penetrates the law enforcement culture where we all know a certain percentage of applicants would certainly participate in atrocious behavior.  Hundreds of tazerings per week are only the tip of the imminent iceberg.  I have never watched it, but I understand there is a TV show called 24 that is planting this seed as well.  There is zero information to be gained preempting “terror” when it is the rogue government that is the lone terrorizing agent here.  The entire process is propagandist warfare upon the public, as was the main preparatory shock - the visceral 911 attack itself (punctuated with anthrax- remember how fast Daschle went into compliance mode?).  Fear is the tool for control that is being ingrained as the country is systematically disassembled.  Today smiling candidates and media circumvent the gut subjects as they play their little shell game.  Everybody’s playing it - Almost everybody.  Look for the one who stands apart (if we indeed have an election).

•  Yeah, right — risk here is to the personal security of Bush, Cheney, and all their evil minions, who risk some serious jail time and perhaps even the death penalty if they ever face prosecution for what they’ve done.
——————————
Indeed you’re right my friend. BUT, we’re working on this security risk. I’m practicing up to be part of the prosecution team. Now, if we do it at the Hague, I don’t know if the death penalty will figure in. (most other countries don’t believe in it). BUT, as we know, they sure do love it here in the USA, and of course, well…these dudes are indeed citizens of the USA. (watch ‘em try to apply for illegal alien status).

Anyway, no promises on the death penalty, but we can sure fix ‘em up with a Gitmo detainee style existence for the rest of their natural days.

YES Waxman. I DO understand. Took me a while I admit. But I definitely ‘get it’ now. (he’s quite an interesting character that Abe Lincoln fellow) Not actually all that he’s been ‘cracked-up’ to be, and maybe more than what has been spread as myth. Like, lots of the bad stuff has been left out of the story.

•  “…a first term idealogue with a temper who will keep us in Iraq until 2013 (like all of the above)…”

Just curious…which one is this? Yeah, I could probably figure it out by process of elimination, but I just wondered if I was missing somebody. What do you mean by ‘first term’? Aren’t most of them ideologues?

•  “…a bitch queen who did nothing about her husband committing perjury and missing conviction in the Senate by one vote.”…

Minor quibble with this one. Not because she doesn’t belong on the list of those who would NOT be good for the POTUS job, but just because what she did or didn’t do in respect to the perjury trial of her husband has nothing to do with it. That’s where the dangerous ideologue stuff comes in. When people, (and so many these days) make the wrong ideological and ‘judgment’ type connections. Probably doesn’t help to call her a ‘queen bitch’ either, but I admit that we all slip up with such descriptors. I myself have a tendency to just call the whole batch of ‘em a bunch of low-down dirty bastards. Just has a nice ring to it for me.

The excuse being given by the Secret Police for for the latest cover-up of the day is that the two torturers were working ‘under cover’ and the tapes destroyed to protect their identity. Funny, Valerie Plame Wilson’s ‘NOC’ cover didn’t seem very important when Rove told Libby to leak it on orders from Cheney, but she wasn’t torturing anybody. My home PC can pixelize the face of people my wife takes pictures of with our free camera software and I am certain that the multi-billion dollar agency like the CIA can black out anything it wants, and must have had a problem blacking out the waterboarding without having to kill the whole frame for hours at a time. Easy solution, just burn the evidence. Been done before, kinda like Rove’s Emails. I really wonder if any Americans really care anymore that our once great country is now a fascist dicatatorship underwritten by Saudi and other Arab oil powers even as it sells guns and bombs to Israels who have enough arms to take care of any military threat many times over. Just days after learning that Bush/Cheney Reich was willing to go to WW III over non existent Iranian nukes, this; and the Prince of Paranoia is on the tube telling us that Iran ‘remains a future threat to develop nuclear arms’.
Our options, should there actually be a 2008 election, included two religious demagogues, a big-city asshole who kept a mistress in a love nest on public funds with a driver and bodyguard, while married; a bitch queen who did nothing about her husband committing perjury and missing conviction in the Senate by one vote; a first term idealogue with a temper who will keep us in Iraq until 2013 (like all of the above), a lazy actor who knows less about most political issues than a third year Poli Sci student; and a couple of fringe candidates who have no chance because they will withdraw our forces from the cash cow slaughterfest that is Iraq. What a great time to be an American.

The CIA is destroying evidence and concealing the identity of the torturers in order to prevent them from being prosecuted.  An independent prosecutor needs to be appointed.

Does this surprise you? I’m not surprised one bit. Bin Laden said six days after 9/11 he had nothing to do with it. BushCo has not allowed that footage to be seen here in America. The military denies access to the top detainees that were allegedly involved with 9/11. Why? America wake up!!! I guarantee you that Bush and Cheney will flee this country after whoever swears in in 01/09.
