Obama, Bloomberg in Mysterious RendezvousPosted on Nov 30, 2007
Barack Obama shared an emptied restaurant and about 45 minutes of conversation with New York mayor and potential presidential bombshell Michael Bloomberg on Friday. A Bloomberg aide implied the meeting was more about sharing ideas than about political aspirations, but at the very least it was a challenge to Hillary Clinton, who would love to have New York and its power brokers all to herself. For the record, it was Obama (and not the billionaire at the table) who picked up the check and tipped well over 50 percent.

hazmaq,
Obama is a close friend of Lieberman’s.
_____
I wish I could love Obama, but his lack of progressive, if any, leadership on Iraq, his SS policy, health care lies, support of the Mining Act, and using right-wing lies against Hillary Clinton, especially that Novak nonsense, makes me suspicious of him.
Edwards is the best hope we have in terms of policy and the political ability to fight back and win. If Obama gets elected, he’ll be shredded by the GOP machine.

I don’t understand Obama’s health care plan. Why just children? Why doesn’t it goes as far as Edwards’ or Clintons’?
And why he claims the higher judgement on Iraq, why does he not promise to end the occupation immediately?
I hope the Dems aren’t again sacrificing a stand because of fear of not getting votes.

“Obama and Bloomberg met on a coffee date, scheduled because of their mutual interest.
Truthdig - where is the story, in this piece of fluff. Other than a mutual interest” of money and the fact that Obama’s campaign donors picked up the tab just what exactly is relevant in this waste of pixel space.

One commenter really made a great point.Of all the places they could have met and discussed whatever, why pick a restaurant in public. They are trying to send a message to someone and my guess it is Hillary.

Jim H. said “Hes lied on Social Security, and his universal medical isnt universal and he lies about that too. Go, Edwards.”
That is being intellectually dishonest. Barack Obama’s plan can never be universal because it isn’t MANDATORY. Anyone can choose to be uninsured. John Edward’s “Universal Medical” plan is more universal how? Somehow the mathematical fact, that in 40 years, Social Security will be spending more money than it is taking in is a lie? Better that we leave our heads in the sand so as to show a strong front to the republicans? The three democratic front runners are so similar on the issues that claims such as these are just more slimy politicking.

Why empty out a diner unless to send a message? I’m sure both these guys have houses, offices in which to meet.
After having worked as a volunteer on Obama’s campaign since April, what I’ve discovered is that although a Dem, he’s not left. One reason he has avoided the black communities, distanced himself from his own congregation and minister, is because his campaign is run by a lot of republican crossovers, young whites—very few black people. This strategy may work, but it’s the principle reason many distinguished black intellegentsia don’t speak up for him.

Over 50% tip? That’s class!
Obama/Bloomberg in ‘08
It falls trippingly from the tongue.
It also sounds like a landslide.
(It’s considerable less threatening than Clinton/Bush in Perpetuity.)

I once looked at Obama as a dynamite candidate, but I’ve changed my idea of him completely over the last few weeks, as he has wildly triangulated and sucked up to conservatives and big money, while shutting up as Russert and his gang do their best to destroy Hillary. I once thought I would be proud to support Obama if he overcame Hillary’s lead. I no longer do. He’s lied on Social Security, and his universal medical isn’t universal and he lies about that too. Go, Edwards.

I fear that Obama just been delivered a hidden agenda that he might have to follow should he get into office or if he wants to get into that office.

The idea of Obama and Bloomberg is almost as bad as Obama and Lieberman. Either way Obama, suppposedly the candidate of the true Left =of which I’m a proud member, would drop off the radar screen like a UFO.
Just a few days ago Hagel was with Bloomberg. The two were also together back in May….http://www.nysun.com/article/53800.
That’s the ticket both sides should be worried about

Obama paid for the coffee ( a coffee date - not a meal) and a tip but who paid for the restaurant to be kept empty? So pretentious…..
