Is Argentina Ready for a Woman President?Posted on Oct 29, 2007
We certainly hope so, because it has just elected one. Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who happens to be the current first lady, managed to pull in more than 40 percent of the vote. In fact, the runner-up (with 23 percent of the vote) is also a woman. Not bad for Gaucho country. Expect the inevitable comparisons to Hillary Clinton, who, as you may recall, was once the first lady of her own country and also aspires to be president.

Ana Ras,
Thanks, I learned more. I was just being optimistic, with hope that someplace in the world there was a progressive government for the people instead of the self serving special interests we have grown accustom to.
From your post, sounds like business as usual, inline with neconsevatives here. Then just another part of the world wide pyramid scheme that Tao Walkers is always talking about.
Sorry.

When are we going to get to the best person.I for one hope she is a woman and not like Margaret Thatcher, a woman in name only. She is going to be judged on how Argentina is doing under her rule. Finally a world leader that I can admire and want to sleep with.

Argentina has already gone through their despot and death government stages.
Yeah, and now we are back to strongman/woman style. I don’t think we are going back to death government any time soon, but we have a loooong way to with regard to true freedom. There is some free press, but Kirchner has stacked the Supreme Court in his favor and made a mockery of the supposed indepence of the justice system. Unsurprisingly, corruption is rampant. People should not forget the origins of the Kirchner’s Peronist party, which was a kind of home-grown fascism. It has evolved, for sure, but some things die hard.

Argentina has already gone through their despot and death government stages. We are just starting.
Hopefully people in Argentina are more aware of issues and the truth is not hidden from them like here. Do not know much about Argentina, but do they have Liberity and freedom? A free press not manipulated by special interests? Be interesting to learn more.
