Giuliani Lowers the Discourse

Historians may one day debate Rudy Giuliani’s recent preposterous comments at a New Hampshire town hall meeting. “Did he mean it?” they might ask. “Or was he just dehydrated?” While addressing voters, the candidate said that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were debating whether to invite Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Osama bin Laden to their inaugurations. But wait, there’s more.

Giuliani insisted that the “mission” in Iraq is without a doubt the correct one, and the Democrats and history will eventually come to that view. Without the war, he warned, Saddam Hussein would have had nuclear weapons: “Wouldn’t we be dealing with Saddam Hussein becoming nuclear right now? If Iran was becoming nuclear what would he be doing?”

Apparently he would be waving his magical nuclear arsenal wand and threatening the United States.

Seriously, this man wants to be president, and he’s justifying the invasion and occupation of a country—not to mention the continued loss of lives and treasure—with a stale lie and a retroactive hypothetical.

AP via Breitbart:

He argued that had the U.S. not invaded Iraq, it would now be facing two dangerous countries trying to become nuclear powers—Iraq and Iran.

“Suppose Hillary Clinton and John Edwards’ new position was their position back then, that it was a mistake to take him out,” Giuliani said, referring to former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. “Wouldn’t we be dealing with Saddam Hussein becoming nuclear right now? If Iran was becoming nuclear what would he be doing? Sitting there letting his arch enemy gain nuclear power over him? Or would we now be dealing with two countries seeking to become nuclear powers.”

On Iran, Giuliani criticized Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., also a candidate for president, for saying they would engage in diplomatic relations with Iran. Obama has said he would be willing to meet with Iran’s leader in the first year of his presidency without conditions; Clinton has said envoys below the presidential level should begin diplomatic work.

“This is the world we live in. It’s not this happy, romantic-like world where we’ll negotiate with this one, or we’ll negotiate with that one and there will be no preconditions, and we’ll invite (Iranian President Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad to the White House, we’ll invite Osama (bin Laden) to the White House,” Giuliani said.

Dear God,

HELP US!!!

So in Rudy’s sinister mind, what he is lying about is that if we didn’t invade Iraq, the world would now be confronted with a nuclear arms race between two third world countries??? LOL!!!

If this sleaze ball becomes the president of our country, we will be in for more of the same tourtured, half-baked logic, lies, wars, and kindergarten-esque explanations of the malfesient right-wing corporate agenda. As the front-runner, he is obviously being guided towards the same ends and ambitions that Bush, Inc. has been.  Dear God…

I thought I heard something on the news[just a short blurb and nothing since then]about his BEST FRIEND and PRIEST?[they grew up together-school-still pals] being in trouble over POSSIBLE PEDOPHILIA???I believe something was said about this person being an advisor on his staff?????By the time I really heard the news piece,it was over-and nothing since then about it…I DO BELIEVE this man[Guiliani]took advantage of the 9-11 TRAGEDY.After all-he only did what HAD TO BE DONE.THAT WAS HIS JOB.I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT GIVES HIM THE CREDENTIALS TO BE A PRESIDENT…..

I admit to being somewhat confused. If everything points to the voters being unhappy with how things are going in this country and looking for “change”, why is Rootin-tootin-Rudy advocating more war? Is it an appease the base strategy now to get the nomination and then make a hard turn towards the middle for the general? One might almost find that kind of dishonest, doncha think?

Rudi is right again. His idea to practice bombing runs on Brazil to get ready for Iran because he heard the Pres of Brazil say the word nuclear may raise some eyebrows. All kidding aside how dumb are Republican primary voters.Do they mark their ballots in crayon?I am not saying on the democratic side it is a walk with mensa but for him to say something so stupid because he thinks it will play with the base makes the base more than moronic.Even George W Bush in one of the hundred reasons he has given has never even tried that one.

When it comes to national security and foreign affairs, Rudi G reminds me of a Dick Cheney clone, a chickehawk and self-annointed counter-terrorism expert. When it comes to Iraq, Rudi G. personifies the neo-CON perception of shock & awe and fear mongering so expertly manipulated by GW and his consigliere dark inner circle. The scary part is that if Rudi G. becomes president, the GW dream of a democratic caliphate in the Middle East will have a second headwind. Such a scenario will no doubt keep Cheney awake to provide expert opinion to Rudi G. as he garners additional contracts for Halliburton. It would also bring back Donald, shock & awe, Rumsfeld to re-implement his cerebral winning formula for the new world order neo-CON agenda. One must not forget the topnotch troika of regional democratization and regime change. The Rudi G. administration will undoubtedly witness the return of the Big Three, Paul Wolfowitz, Douggy Feith, and Richard Perle et al to act as a policy-making brain trust for Rudi G’s perpetuation of GW’s historically Romanesque effort to secure the Middle East oil resources from the ever increasing apetite of communist China which is the biggest threat to American oil interests all over the world.
It’s as if Ralph Cramden and Ed Norton are being reincarnated into a political bubble gum machine.
