FEMA Apologizes for Make-Believe Press ConferencePosted on Oct 26, 2007FEMA has admitted that it was probably a mistake to hold a press conference without members of the press. On Tuesday the agency, perhaps trying to get a jump on the kind of negative publicity it received after Hurricane Katrina, stuffed a press briefing with its own employees, who lobbed softballs such as “Are you happy with FEMA’s response so far?” Yes, vaguely familiar person whom I’m sure I don’t know or pay, we are very happy with our response.

• You know what’s most amazing about these guys?
They do it with a straight face!
If that doesn’t tell you they’re all completely insane, nothing will!
• Asked, “are you upset because some republicans are voting for SCHIP?” Bush responds “Of course I’m upset, they disrespect me!”
Dead serious.
Oh Louise, you’ve done it again. I always have to laugh out loud when I read your posts, (even though I know this is serious stuff). Still, you make your point soooo well. The straight face, and yep,
DEAD SERIOUS!!
No way I could do it. I can keep a poker face if I’m playing poker, (with MY money) but this…No way. I’d be laughing out loud, and they’d have to throw me out of the fake press conference.
Anyway, I sent the below link to some friends via email. I didn’t post it here, because I admit that it reads like a tabloid. BUT, it’s definitely no more ridiculous than this fake press conference, or anything else the Bush gang ever sponsors. Matter of fact, I think this will explain things far better, and it really IS closer to the truth.
http://alcuinbramerton.blogspot.com/2007/10/bush-white -house-begins-to-disintegrate.html
Might even explain why they ‘disrespect him”.
OH, I missed this part…about the author who has the battle with cancer.
• The Author who grabs your sympathy with the story of her battle with cancer and then goes on to explain why that inspired her to lead the battle to stop the left from disrespecting our Commander In Chief.
Yeah, I missed this. Just as well, eh?

The several term repub rep who expresses indignation because in spite of the fact that the dems have been in control for almost a year they haven’t solved any problems. Problems created by him and his, as he well knows.
Asked, “are you upset because some republicans are voting for SCHIP?” Bush responds “Of course I’m upset, they disrespect me!”

So FEMA has now joined the bandwagon or should I say the “SHOWBOAT”, with it’s very own version of “ONLY MAKE BELIEVE”. This is no surprise here. After all we have had a make believe presidency, representation in goverment, economy, housing market, affordable health care, booming job market-yeah right- so many jobs in fact that Americans cannot possibly do it all we have to import others to fill the gaps b.s.,yet we still have millions looking for jobs, education for all of our children, that homeless people don’t exist in America or if the do it is because they want to,and no one ever goes with out food, clothing, shelter, medical, WMD’S,Iran with nukes, that the Iraqi’s really love us and want us running their country and their lives, and the list goes on.
Welcome to FANTASY ISLAND-formally known as America. You are now entering the TWILIGHT ZONE and the sign post up ahead screams WAKE-UP.We are now reaching THE OUTER LIMITS of the little bit of common sense that a very few people still have left in this population. The rest of the population is LOST.

Dearest Pam;
No offense intended. Just riffing on your monniker to make a point.
FEMA’s less than stellar response to the death of a great American city should be perceived as consistent with the stated lais-sez faire values of this administration and its cheerleaders. They are telling us outright that the gummint ought not to interfere in a citizen’s dialogue with his/her personal gestalt. You are poor and black and your whole earthly possession is washed away in the night...hey, not my problem.
This attitude is not Christian, of course. But I’ve always maintained that one cannot be both Christian and capitalist. That whole camel and the eye of the needle thing, you know. That whole leave the corners of your fields for the poor thing, entirely inconsistent with the capitalist imperative to maximize profits.
Let’s maintain our equanimity, if we can. It’s a long haul, and we need all the help we can get.

Exactly, Lawlessone.
Once we’d taken that step though the looking glass, expecting that our institutions will act honorably (or even sanely) is pretty much a waste of time.
The phrase : They just not even trying (to cover up what they are) sums it up rather nicely, don’t you think?

The end of a perfect day
Distant lights from across the bay

So fine so young

Hippie Pammy Baby Gurl;
The Flower-Power Revolution failed. Lucy In The Sky never descended With her pockets full of Diamonds.
We were stuck with real-world credit-debit obligations needing sorting fiscal year to fiscal year. Boring.
Understand that the W’s people acted, and will always act, with complete fealty to their world view...the individual is responsible for his/her choices in this life. You built/bought in a flood plain/fire zone. Tough titty. Suck it up. No one is obliged to find you some clean socks.
Now, it will probably prove true that these mostly white, uppa-middle, mostly Republican San Diego County fire-zone entrepreneurs will enjoy a smoother ride to recovery than your typical Ninth Ward racial lottery Katrina-loser could hope for. Such is life. Them white folk backed the winning team. They bundled for the Bossman. Can’t do that with food stamps.
We are not a nation organized to attend to societal obligations. The social contract is recognized to extend no further than to enforce your obligation to respect the law.
The law is writ to respect no societal obligation. The law is writ to protect the people who write the law.
Jesus died to remind you that Jesus died to remind you. Pilate rules. Work under the radar til the Millennium comes.

Epic stupidity.
The track record allows us no expectation that W’s people are going to demonstrate integrity. They have shown some imagination, though. This newspeak non-press press event is the kind of thing we’ve come to expect from this crowd. They’ve read Orwell; the bigger the lie, the more likely it is to be believed (e.g...the fact we’re getting hammered in Iraq means the enemy is getting desperate).
But, sweet Mary, the in-your-face stupidity, here. Did they think the press would not notice they didn’t have anyone at this conference?
Staggers the mind.
Hey, Georgie boy. I need a cushy gummint gig. No way could I run this FEMA mess any worse than your homeboys. Gimme a buzz. I know you know where I live.

Douglas Chalmers (#109897) raises an alarm here that deserves much more widespread attention. A few years back there was a “grasshopper emergency,” declared by “the authorities,” in the Bears Paw Mountains of northcentral Montana. It was decided that aerial spraying was the only acceptable solution. Except the Beaver Creek Park playground for nearby lily-white Havre, everybit as “infested” as Rocky Boy’s Reservation right next door, was NOT subject to the chemical bombardment.
This old Savage agreed at the time with old friend WolfChild that the “pest” being sprayed-for that summer was really Indians, not grasshoppers. No one seems to be formally tracking the after-effects on the People there, who’d been told there was no need for children, the elderly, or even pregnant women to stay away from “ground zero” during or just after the assault. There is noticeably more chronic respiratory problems, and other debilitating-but-not-necessarily-acute conditions there (including so-called “birth-defects"), in the twenty-odd years since, to those of us who’re paying our precious attention.
This recent incident in California looks mighty like more practice runs for the massive bio-chem blitzkreig the tormentors and their two-legged “agents” are preparing....a “global” fumigation meant to “clear the books” of the 95+% of domesticated people who are now effectively written-off, economically speaking, as “redundant” dead-weight. This time, though, the “Indians” are the mostly European-derived descendants of the same “pioneers” who did all the privateering plutoligarchs’ dirty-work in the first place.
It might be worth noting, too, the Governator’s own plutoligarch and nazi connections here. If those subject/citizens affected accept more-or-less docilely this blatant chemical warfare assault, it will surely be proof positive to their owner/overseers that they’re ripe for extremely prejudicial mass x-termination.
Anybody here still think these vicious gangsters aren’t deadly-serious about their literally globe-girdling “project”?
HokaHey!

Besides, even when the public has proof they are being lied to, it seems to make no difference to them. They keep allowing the same old “make up artists” to retain positions of power. Unbelievable!

“Governor Schwarzenegger is a strong supporter of the declared emergency; the need to spray untested biochemicals on humans to stop the LBAM from destroying crops.......”
Here’s a wild thought. Do you suppose it could have made a difference if “Aunald” had put some of that money, planning and foresight into making sure enough planes and appropriate chemicals would be available on a moments notice, just in case the Santa Ana winds started a wildfire in the abnormally hot and dry conditions?
Everyone knows the winds will come, they always do.
Everyone knew it was abnormally hot.
Everyone knew rainfall for the season was well below average.
And everyone knows a good part of the Guard is out of town, and the administration in DC is always out to lunch.
So, was the emergency planning, money and manpower misdirected?
I think if I paid taxes in California, I might be hopping mad about now!

As pathetic as it seems on the face of it..I don’t think very many are really surprised. The bush administration has made lying a virtue. There is no reason to be truthfull, when a willing media will help spread a lie for you. The culture that this administration has sown thruout our goverment agencies breeds this kind of pure K. Rove type tactic. It will be interesting ( not ) to see if the federal response to this disaster is a repeat of Katrina, or is their a glimmer of hope for them simply because they are more affluent. One thing is a given with this admin...when the insurance companies don’t live up to their end of the deal as in New Orleans, who do you think bu$h will side with ?

When are we going to learn that “Emergency Management” doesn’t mean “getting timely aid to the victims of disasters,” but rather, “damage control” by the federal government after a disaster. Fool me once, shame on me; fool me twice, shame on you! It’s not a stretch to aver that our whole central gov. could be renamed FEMA under that definition.

Then there is the other emergency:-
(NewsTarget) On September 9th, 2007 several planes hired by the State of California Food and Agricultural Department (CDFA) flying at an altitude of approximately 500ft sprayed the untested biochemical, CheckMate®OLR-F, on over 30,000 citizens in Monterey and other surrounding cities in California. This occurred without the permission of the citizens. The spraying continued for three nights from approximately 8pm to 5am. About 1,500 pounds of biochemical were dumped on the cities. Many citizens did not even know what was happening when the planes were buzzing overhead......... The excuse for aerial spraying is not a deadly disease carrying mosquito, but a moth whose larva may eat some leaves of some plants; called the Light Brown Apple Moth (LBAM). The CDFA considers the moth an invasive species since it is from Australia. Yet, evidence suggests that the moth has been in California for many years, living peacefully. In response to the moth, the CDFA set up relatively harmless sticky traps, which have captured nearly every Light Brown Apple Moth in the Northern California region......
Governor Schwarzenegger is a strong supporter of the declared emergency; the need to spray untested biochemicals on humans to stop the LBAM from destroying crops....... http://www.laleva.org/eng/2007/10/governor_schwarzeneg ger_backs_aerial_biochemical_spraying_that_harms_children.h tml

Dennis, this moron was actually here in California, offering his ‘assistance’. He now operates a Private Disaster Management Company. (Can’t remember the name of it, and of course I don’t care enough to look it up).
So, as if we weren’t traumatized and terrorized enough by the disaster of the fires, BUSH and this moron show up. We saw how they ‘helped’ New Orleans. For Californians affected by these fires, we’d just like to have our National Guard back. And, no doubt that would have come up, if they’d had real members of the press at the ‘press’ conference.
Meantime, here’s some more of the same. I thought it was very ‘illuminating’.

“Quick, we need to organize something to remind the people we can organize something! Don’t worry, it has absolutely no connection whatsoever with actually doing anything, or any real effort aimed at any real disaster that may, or may not actually be happening!”
Such must have been the directive that came down from on high [or up high from down low]
To continue, “This is of vital importance, because it’s easier than actually working, cheaper than actually doing the FEMA thing, and most important ... reminds the American people we are as phony as the war on terror, and as incompetent and crazy as the administration, and our glorious leader!”

FEMA has a scam leadership which has no integrity and loyalty to its frontline emergency cadre. The staged press conference is another example of this dysfunctional administration’s chacanery. No doubt all of the concerned FEMA employees and the press conference spokesman will be promoted to more responsible positions of trust and confidence.
