Cartoon Fetus Speaks in ‘Womb With a View’

Posted on Oct 26, 2007

Picking up on the pro-life theme of “giving a voice to the unborn,” cartoonist Gary Cangemi made a lil’ creation of his own, “Umbert the Unborn,” otherwise known as “the world’s most loveable unborn baby (next to yours) ... ,” according to his Web site.

Straight out of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Gary Cangemi pens Umbert the Unborn, his charming comic about an adorable unborn fetus. According to, the comic reaches 750,000 readers around the world. “The unborn child finally has a voice of his own!” they proclaim.

Thanks for making the effort to communicate with bloggers/readers.  The worst reaction from a cartoonist is no reaction…...

As Umbert’s creator, I want to thank you all for your comments concerning my comic strip. Having been a free-lance political cartoonist in Scranton for many years, my work has always been controversial and Umbert has been no exception. The worst reaction for a cartoonist is no reaction. I certainly respect your right to hold different views on the subject of our fundamental right to life and you may rest assured that I will continue to express mine in my comic strip which you may read daily on  Thanks again!

I just don’t get the logic.
Many seem to be anti-war, anti capital punishment, pro SCHIP, pro environment and also support the murder of little babies all in one breath.

Thankfully, you are an abortion survivor and we get to hear your opinion no matter how hypocritical it may be.

Thank goodness Scranton is the imaginary home of the “The Office” or I would be completely humiliated to be from the same city of this Cangemi character.

Oh, come now, is there any surprise about this little piece of religious feces?

The same minds that believe that an invisible old white guy lives in the sky and is watching their every move (even in airport bathrooms!) will believe a fetus, a FETUS!, can not only talk but make trenchant comments.

There is, simply, no end to the fricking stupidity of these inbred wastes of space.  The sooner they inbreed themselves off the planet, the better.

Talking fetuses.  Good grief!

#109962 by felicity on 10/27 at 11:14 am: “...a woman is born with every egg she’ll ever drop, I figure that’s about 400, if she only has two kids 398 eggs are never given a chance at life….”

Right on, felicity. Its “a brave new world”, lets “bokanovskify” them:-

Quote: “...the operation undergone voluntarily for the good of Society, not to mention the fact that it carries a bonus amounting to six months’ salary”; “Bokanovsky’s Process,” repeated the Director, and the students underlined the words in their little notebooks. One egg, one embryo, one adult-normality. But a bokanovskified egg will bud, will proliferate, will divide. From eight to ninety-six buds, and every bud will grow into a perfectly formed embryo, and every embryo into a full-sized adult. Making ninety-six human beings grow where only one grew before. Progress. “Essentially,” the D.H.C. concluded, “bokanovskification consists of a series of arrests of development. We check the normal growth and, paradoxically enough, the egg responds by budding….....

Bokanovsky’s Process is one of the major instruments of social stability!” “Ninety-six identical twins working ninety-six identical machines!” The voice was almost tremulous with enthusiasm. “You really know where you are. For the first time in history.” He quoted the planetary motto. “Community, Identity, Stability.” Grand words. “If we could bokanovskify indefinitely the whole problem would be solved.” Solved by standard Gammas, unvarying Deltas, uniform Epsilons. Millions of identical twins. The principle of mass production at last applied to biology….......” and click pic for links

Since a woman is born with every egg she’ll ever drop, I figure that’s about 400, if she only has two kids 398 eggs are never given a chance at life.  How cruel is that! Let’s hear it for Egbert the Egg.

And I proclaim - WTF! Umbert for President!

I think the Repubs have a strong new candidate to worry about since the evangelicals will unite behind Umbert.
Quick, reset the Diebold 08 election results to a runaway victory.

A real Toon running Toontown(Washington D.C.) - it’s long overdue and we’ll finally be able to laugh at ourselves the way the rest of the world has been doing for many, many years.
