For those who do not live in the NY metro area, allow me to explain what Drooliani and all NY Yankee fans have known for nearly 4 decades. First, if you are a Yankee fan and they are out of contention for the year, you hope that the Red Sox are winners. Why you ask?

You see the NY Yankees have a moron for an owner. (There are actually multiple “owners” but Steingrabber is the controlling moron.) There is nothing that infuriates this moron more than the rival Red Sox going further than his Yankees. Steingrabber’s typical response to Red Sox success is to spend money on star ball players the equivalent to Hugh Hefner’s tab at the “Blondes ‘R Us” outlet. The fans of the team are rewarded the following season by being entertained by the newly acquired overpriced talent.

Downside you ask? Yes there is a downside. Due to this moronic spending the prices of tickets, parking, concessions and merchandise for the team increase precipitously. Eventually those attending games will be strictly corporate types that have received their tickets as perks and of course the Droolianis of the world. Don’t fret though, we can watch the games from home in HD. Just keep in mind Steingrabber also gets a piece of our cable bill!

So cheer on the Sox New York, it’s good for the home team. “America’s Mayor” knows how to get what he wants, just beware when he says he is rooting for North Korea.

As a life-long Red Sox fan, I find the whole thing surreal.  As little as 6 years ago, New England was the laughing stock of the sporting world.  Then the Pats morph into the cream of the NFL (and not just for a year), the Sox are heavy favorites for the WS and considered a juggernaut.  The Celtics can actually sell tickets (though they still have Doc Rivers as a coach) and New Yorkers are a joke!  Please, do not try to remove me from this alternate universe I have stumbled on!

I love it.  At least Rudy can see the true way to salvation!
