White House ‘Eviscerated’ Climate Report

When Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control, went before Congress to testify on the effects of global warming on Americans’ health, she was about 10 pages lighter than planned. According to a source within the CDC, the White House “eviscerated” Gerberding’s prepared remarks, slashing 10 of the original 14 pages.

AP:

Her testimony before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee had much less information on health risks than a much longer draft version Gerberding submitted to the White House Office of Management and Budget for review in advance of her appearance.

“It was eviscerated,” said a CDC official, familiar with both versions, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the review process.

The official said that while it is customary for testimony to be changed in a White House review, these changes were particularly “heavy-handed,” with the document cut from its original 14 pages to four. It was six pages as presented to the Senate committee.

Does anything that involves this administration surprise us? It has been one distortion of the truth after another. I believe the nation can’t wait for ANYONE else to be president. Maybe just vacate the spot for a few years and we couldn’t be worse off. How can we expect truth from Bush when his followers accept the “truth” as told to them by Rush Limbaugh(dope addict), Cheney(armed services dodger), Bush(acknowledged pot user, Vietnam dodger, failure at every job he has had), Ken Lay(Enron wonder child), and one church official after another (found to be gay or cheating or stealing from the congregation or preaching politics yet wanting tax-free shelters); the list never ends with these guys. And as far as religion goes, wasn’t 9-11 a faith-based initiative? Why is it that these Christian folks think that God watches out for them and ignores the pleas of so many others? And just one I would like to see an athlete say after a game in which he just got beaten like a drum: “I want to thank the Lord for having my butt handed to me. Those other guys are much more in tune with God, I suppose.”

Why does everyone have to take an all or nothing stance?  Global warming is a natural phenomena. The current spate of global warming is accelerated by human presence.  Just this many bodies on earth exhaling makes a difference.  All the heat radiated by city buildings makes a difference. I’ve actually SEEN that effect in action. And just suppose, all of you who think humans don’t play a part in what’s happening; what if you are wrong?  does it hurt to err on the side of caution?  Or have you forgotten telling your kids that the stove is hot and watching them burn themselves because they didn’t believe you?
For all you who talk to God, God has told me that its going to happen anyway, just going to happen in 10 years instead of a hundred.  So we’ll all get to enjoy it. How fun.

THIS white house will continue its philistine hack and stab censorship to the bloodyend of its tenure. Bush will place in history as one of the most prolific serial killers of civil liberties in US history.  He was suggested as a tattoo, but no one wanted a blotch on their ass… the most appropriate place for his pouty Texas kisser.  US government has become toxic to constitutional best interest of the american people. GIVE the power back to Congress where it belongs…  Turn the White House into another Kentucky outhouse since its so full of chit disguised as wisdom from Austin, Texas.

Thank you. After reading some of the posts here I am beginning to believe that there may be hope for my country yet. Not everyone is drinking the socialist’s kool-aide. God bless America where some people are still thinking for themselves. Now speak out and vote.

anyone surprised?  the Bush admin denies, dismisses and redacts any documentation that might interfere with their gutting of environmental protections at the behest of their corporate cronies.  their only concern is the accumulation of wealth and power.  if they have no problem starting wars in order to pad their stock portfolios in The Military Industrial Complex, if they have no problem shredding our Constitution in order to cement their plutocratic fascist agenda ... they certainly have no problem trashing the planet for profit.  whatta wonderful world future generations will inherit, living in polluted squalor while enslaved and paying off GW’s trillions of dollars in war debt.

utlahis says “there is no evidence that humans cause global warming.”  Yeah, right utlahis, and science is just an alternative religion.

You know, utlahis, nobody at Truthdig would be able to appreciate your ignorance until you actually provided us with your post.  In case you didn’t notice, the other half of the Nobel prize went to the international team of scientists who have arrived at a conclusion that is 180% from yours, but, of course, if you had taken your head out of the right-wing, talking points disinformation bubble long enough to listen to that half of the story, you would have known that and not made such a fool of yourself.

Maybe the White House took out the BS crap pseudo-science that shoulldn’t have been in the report in the first place!!!  DUHHH!  Did you fanatical Gor-followers ever bother to think of that??  Probably not.  Open your minds and look at both sides of the GW theory—because that’s all it is right now is a theory, not proven science.

“who spoke on condition of anonymity” I have Found
is mother-Russia media (AP) way of trying to In-sert
a argument for the opposite side. Keeping both sides at each other throat. So I learned to take such statements as the one above an “other say” ect.. with a grain of salt.

There is no evidence that global warming has been caused by humans.  In case you have forgotten your earth history this earth used to be a whole lot colder…remember the ice age?  It has been warming up for milleniums.  Global warming is fearmongering by the liberals and so-called scientists to make people bow down to big daddy and pay more taxes. It has only warmed up a few degrees in the past century, and there is evidence that possible sun activity affects the warming and cooling of the earth’s climate, as well as oceans and swamps and methane from nature rotting.  Study reports from real scientists, not political scientists like Al Gore.

Dr. Julie Gerberding said later, through her spokesperson, when asked whether she was censored by the White House, that she felt she “was able to say everything she wanted to say” to Congress.
So, that 14-page report she tried to submit and was trimmed to 4, was just padded, or what!?

As usual the WH has to destroy what it doesn’t want to hear. Remember the Bushies experts dissing the worlds top authority on global warming a few years ago? Hey censorship is their first, middle and last name. This administration has gone above and beyond any truthful, factual and proven evidence to discredit those who actually know what is going on over their fantasy view of reality. When it was said that human activity was a major cause of global warming, the Bush Bunch allowed only that it might be.

That’s right all you bible thumpers-go forth and multiply excessively-with no common sense or regards to the fact that excessive children become excessive adults who repeat this process over so much so that human overpopulation ends up destroying the very world the God you claim gave you.The real end of time will be brought about by mans own stupidity, and as the bible says.THE END.

Ok…sometimes I make mistakes in math..but 14 minus 10 would be 4?  But 6 were presented and her report was cut 10.  I am going to work for the government..I can do their math.  Heck maybe I will run for president.

When are the sociopathic Bushies going to get with it and rename the White House “The Ministry of Truth”—the place where Orwell’s protaganist in “1984,” Winston Smith, spent his time feeding inconvenient facts down memory holes, that is, until Winston was sent to be tortured at the “Ministry of Love.”
