Given the Catholic Church’s record of dealing (or not) with homosexuality, especially within its upper ranks, it’s not particularly shocking that the Vatican suspended Monsignor Tomasso Stenico after he said he was gay on an Italian television show.

BBC:

The prelate had been suspended pending further investigation, said Vatican spokesman Father Frederico Lombari.

He says he was interviewed “fraudulently” with a hidden camera and now denies his earlier statement.

In a letter published in an Italian online newspaper, Petrus, he writes: “I said I was homosexual in order to unmask those who really are.”

Catholicism: crack baby of Christianity, or child molester Uncle? Never did find which one fits more, though the latter one seems to fit much better nowadays.

Why is it that such a disgusting regime is allowed to live? The Vatican should NOT be allowed to even get NEWS coverage. It needs to be fenced off from the world. It’s religion gone VERY wrong, and no one cares, since it isn’t Islam.

Whoo boy…who expected anything different from them? They’ll continue to push intolerance until they have no more ground to push it on. They’ve done what they could to repress women and gays, but they’re obviously losing the battle. At this rate, their entire faith system will crumble if they don’t stop picking and choosing who goes to heaven. “Why, you are a completely good fellow. I see that you have done nothing wrong in your entire life, and you followed the ten commandments flawlessly, and you obeyed every last law, both moral and governmental, and-wait, what’s that? It says here that you had some fun with another man in a bathroom stall. Sorry, I’m going to have to throw you into hell. Gays are evil creatures, and you clearly did all of this just stuff to try and trick me. Nice try!”

Pathetic. And you wonder why this archaic bull is allowed to live.

Actually the pope is gay… google it.  It’s just insane you have a gay pope saying you can’t be gay.  This goes hand-in-hand w/the hypocrisy of the religious right.

However, it is quite acceptable to be a pervert or a child predator. If you get caught the Church will pay out millions to defend you and they will send you to a better Church far off where you can have a fresh start with fresh new kiddie faces.
I think that is carrying tolerance a tad too far.

What does one expect from perpetrators and promulgators of delusion?
Did anyone notice how the present pope lifted his heel when using the Frankensence burner? He is rather light on his feet. Not that that is conclusive , but… “betcha” he had his own gender struggle!
Not that that, is in and of itself, is to be condemned. (We are all human). N’est pas?

When are we going to get over the Catholic Church?  For example…no condoms, no birth control. And the population of the planet has doubled in 37 years.  They have no credibility and no morality.  A bunch of medievel sophists now being led by atavists from Africa and an ex-Hitler youth. (Give me a child till he’s seven, the Jesuits say.)And that doesn’t begin to address the response to AIDS in Africa.  What post-Englightenment human being with a cerebral cortex could give them anything but contempt? (From an ex-Catholic Canadian who loves husband.)

What completely evades my comprehension is how a MAN-MADE institution like the Roman Catholic church can become known, world-wide, to harbor/shelter/support thousands of sexual predators - liars and abusers of children of both sexes - and STILL retain any “authority” or ability to lead, morally or otherwise, anyone.

The “rock” upon which this church was founded is compiled mostly of quicksand and bullshit and yet MILLIONS follow it’s bogus teachings like so many mentally retarded sheep.

It’s criminal what damage this cesspool of fraud does to children and to society in general.

Stenico seems about as bright as the bankrobber who wrote his holdup note on the back of a personal cheque! But, once again, we see the machinery of the hypocritical church structure in action: sexuality=suppression=oppression=denial=coverup for all but those who are caught by seculars. Holy See, HA! At least the popes and cardinals of the past were open about their sexual romps…

Let me get this straight; it’s alright to coverup for priests who fondle children but it not alright to state your sexual preference (even though you have taken a vow to be celibate)????? This is the kind of thing that has caused many catholics to quit the church.

Tripped out, indeed.

Alas, given the papacy’s history of serial pedophilia, one would think they would impose more regulatory limits on this hypocrisy.

Quote: In a letter published in an Italian online newspaper, Petrus, he writes: “I said I was homosexual in order to unmask those who really are….”

A double flip maybe but how many are there to be “unmasked”? Did he really mean that there was a clique in the Vatican who did not want to be revealed but that they were running their own special agenda?

Quote: “...the Vatican rarely comments on sexual scandal involving priests and the prompt admission of this priest’s suspension is unusual…”. This sudden action tends to verify that and raises the question of what exactly are they up to?

First of all, we know that the new German pope is not a spiritual person - merely an academic in religious garb. He certainly has had his “epiphany” since the Islamic world told him where he, and presumably this ‘special’ clique, could shove his/their garbage about bloodthirsty Byzantine emperors and their disgusting version of “Christendom” and their whining about a Turkish ruler of 600 years ago.

No-one seemed to make much of the fact that here was an erstwhile Neocon parading as a pope and trying his best from the outset to foment racial and religious tension in the West to support the current “crusades” against the good people of the Middle East (West Asia). Neither do people in the West seem to be aware of just how prejudiced the contemporary German attitude towards Turkish migrants and guest workers really is.

Good undercover work Father Stenico. You and Larry Craig should team up two straight men fighting to uncover homosexuality wherever you can find it.May I suggest a name for this team? Father Starsky and Butch. You can leave for your next assignment right after the annual pedophillia olympics at the Vatican. My favorite event is the running of the altar Boys. They let a 10 altar boys free to run with 100 Cardinals in hot pursuit.
