Gore Has His Eye on the PrizePosted on Oct 5, 2007
Forget the Oscar—the Nobel Peace Prize is where it’s at, and environmental advocate and former Vice President Al Gore may soon add one to his trophy case. That’s according to the predictions of a number of Nobel experts who did some handicapping for Reuters. But even if Gore doesn’t get the nod, expect the environment to take center stage at the ceremony. So say the tea leaves, and several prominent Norwegian Nobel enthusiasts.

I’d like to say that Al Gore deserves the prize for making the worldwide effort to bring science to the forefront. Mankind created this mess and it is mankind that will have to resolve the problems we face or die in the attempt.
Politics and religious superstitions need to be put aside so science and human effort can move to bring about meaningful positive changes in the way folks exploit the earth’s environment and resources. We can survive with a good quality of life or we can squander the opportunity so a few can make money while many begin to die from environmental catastrophes.
Clean water and air is the right of all living things! We individuals are only here for several decades, if we are lucky enough to survive, then the earth reclaims the salts and minerals within us all.
Anybody else remember the term “Spaceship Earth”

Oldbush and LilBush head to the dumpster of history due to their reactive stupidity while lesser knowns like Carter and Gore reap the world’s treasures due to their humanity.

Isn’t it ironic that the man who ostensibly was defeated in 2000 is basking in the limelight of awards and worldwide acclaim and admiration; whereas the apparent victor in that election is universally reviled? It’s what is called “poetic justice.”

I hope he wins it and continues his environmental work. This prize is far above any “presidency”.

The anti-semitic neo-nazis are getting bolder and bolder. EVERY thread now on Truthdig is a forum for their racist agenda. Just what the F*** does this have to do with Al Gore, the Nobel Peace Prize, and the environment? Yet “Sylvia Morrison” made sure the very FIRST post on this was about…those g-d d-mn Jews.
You don’t want Jews in Congress—Vote ‘em out! You don’t want Jews in businesses? Out-compete them.
You don’t like the power and influence of AIPAC? Build your OWN PAC with more money (like the oil companies and pharma companies do)!
TAKE A F**KING CIVICS CLASS AND MAKE YOUR COUNTRY WORK! Stop whining about how it’s all the fault of The Jews. It’s not! It’s YOUR fault for not getting off your lazy ass.
The radical Christian Right figured this out in the 70’s and martialed ground-pounders and money to attack EVERY contest in America, from school boards in BumFuck, Iowa, to the Presidency. And they corrupted every area of our government to do so…
But they did what they believed in and made it happen. You want Jews out of government? Do the same damn thing! But you say you can’t? That’s because the vast number of Americans KNOW you nazis are full of shit.

SM, how can you say AIPAC is a disgrace to American Jews? Who do you think made them the #1 most powerful lobby in America today?
And if you don’t agree with their agenda, why aren’t the Jews in the streets protesting Israel’s deliberate attempts to start another war with Iran, for example?
Because you know damn good and well AIPAC, Israel and Bush are in this together, trying to anger and work Iran into a rage, like 3 Pecadores agitating a bull.
Sad, because, Israel’s only purpose to the U.S. has always been as a canary in their oil fields. It won’t be America Iran hits first.
But here’s 2 reasons you need to understand about why I and many others are growing hostile to Jews and will never support another Jewish candidate again:
1. Steny Hoyer, a big AIPAC leader and a Jew, had a speech to AIPAC on his website, taking it down only when he became ML. These are his words; “..There are some who believe we must have an even hand in dealing with Israeli-Palestinian issues. I do not.”
Lantos, another Jew, feels the same—they both could care less if the whole middle east was wiped off the face of the earth. Leaving Israel, with all the spoils. And they’ve said as much.
2. This one is worse. Last year in the 34 day long Lebanon/Israeli war, the only person in the United States who publicly spoke out against Israel’s massive over-reaction and demanded Rice get off her ass and actively work for a ceasefire, was Senator Chuck Hagel. My own favorite, Senator Feingold, said nothing.
He’s Jewish. And he didn’t speak out because he knew AIPAC would publicly and privately seek some kind of vengence…
one Dem Congressman meekly sent a letter to Rice about it; two weeks later he appeared on national tv -apologizing to Israel. He had just returned from a free trip to Israel, paid for by AIPAC.
Our Congress -taking anti-humanitarian orders from AIPAC? Never again.
People complained about Muslims, and the Right and the Left, not speaking out against extremists in their ranks.
Report thisOn this - the Jews are silent.

If you believe in Karma, here it is on a plate.
Having been had out of the presidency in an election wrought by fraud and other skullduggery, Gore will succeed conversely as Bush fails.

Viorst’s excellent paragraph that lays out the multiple factors that made it possible for Pres. Bush to drag us into the worst foreign policy mistake in our history puts AIPAC’s role in the war into some perspective. AIPAC is a disgrace to American Jews, who only breathe today because of the sacrifices of thousands of non-Jewish Americans. AIPAC is only the symptom of a real mental illness that infects most American Jews. That is the paranoic conviction that Israel is more important to them than is the country that not only saved their lives but gave their children glorious opportunities to develop their talents, and far more religious freedom than does Israel, which is the capitol of Orthodox rigidity. This paranoia is based on the cultural preoccupation with self-pity and entitlement. Thank God for people who are speaking up. SM
