The Israeli government has dismissed a petition calling for a cease-fire with Hamas. The document, which was written by some of Israel’s leading writers and intellectuals, notes that “Israel has in the past negotiated with its worst enemies.”

Haaretz:

The signatories of the petition - which was organized by the sponsors of the Geneva Initiative and will be published today - include the novelists Amos Oz, A.B. Yehoshua, David Grossman, Meir Shalev, Judith Katzir, Eli Amir, Savyon Liebrecht, Yehoshua Sobol and Dorit Rabinyan.

The petition, titled “Agreement with [Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud] Abbas, cease-fire with Hamas,” reads: “Israel has in the past negotiated with its worst enemies ... Now, the appropriate course of action is to negotiate with Hamas to reach a general cease-fire to prevent further suffering for both sides.”

“We believe Israel is facing an opportunity to promote the peace process ahead of the regional peace summit planned for November,” the document continued. “We urge the prime minister to strive to reach tangible agreements with the leadership of the Palestinian Authority and not miss this opportunity.”

BBC:

In response, Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Mark Regev described the petition as counterproductive.

“The position of the government of Israel and that of the European Union, Canada and the United States is that we must engage with the Palestinian moderates,” he said.

•  The Islamic militant group also warned Arab countries against offering concessions to Israel.

Howard, WHAT (pray tell) “CONCESSIONS” do the Palestinans have to “offer” Israel. Please help me understand. Tell me what “concessions” the other Arab countries might “offer” to Israel. I’m really interested in knowing what this “The” Islamic militant group is referring to. Like even “WHICH” “Islamic Militant Group” you’re talking about.

Never mind Howard, do YOU even know what the hell you’re talking about?

Hamas has spoken out consistently against the conference, called by U.S. President George W. Bush to promote peace between Israel and the Palestinians. Hamas has said any decisions made there would not be binding”.

Howard, this is laughable. The U.S. doesn’t have a president. We the people are currently without leadership of any kind, but it is especially lacking in our Executive Dictator Branch. So, The Boy George hasn’t called for any conference, nor will he attend it. He has no interest in promoting peace, and he never has.

IF Hamas said that the decisions would not be “binding”, then that would be in keeping with every single solitary OTHER decision that has been made in reference to this conflict, over the past 40 years. Israel has YET to ever respond to any decisions, treaties, conventions, or conferences. Israel is the epitome of ignoring any and all international laws and treaties. So, this would be nothing new.  Binding? Since when has that stopped Israel?

Howard, I’m pretty sure you’re a troll, but you just don’t know it yet. (I hope somebody is paying you to spread disinformation. If you’re doing it for free, that’s even more pathetic).

Still I’m really curious about these “concessions”. What “concessions” might the other Arab countries offer to Israel for “peace”. Maybe they’ll agree to all assemble in one geographical spot, so Israel can wipe them all out with one nuke, instead of having to maybe let a few of those babies off in their own backyards, where they might expose themselves to a whiff or two of the deadly poison?

And, while you’re at it, can you help me figure out how “THE” Islamic militant group is gonna “destroy” Israel? How are they gonna do that, Howard? With those little rockets? How else might they do it Howard? The wall is already there, so they can’t threaten to “wall Israel out”. So, do ya think maybe those militant Islamists could just put some bars all around Israel, and turn it into a Gaza. Is THAT how they’re gonna destroy Israel.

I know! (insert my raised hand)

They’ll get a kid from MIT to whip up a shirt with a circuit board and flashing lights attached to it.

THAT would destroy Israel, right?

Howard.

Israel’s got more games than an Arcade.

Peace is simply not profitable enough for Israel.

Israel cannot negotiate with a government that is sworn to destroy Israel.

AP news just reported the following:
“Hamas on Tuesday called on Saudi Arabia and other nations not to attend the upcoming U.S.-sponsored Mideast peace conference, the first time it has appealed directly to Arab states to stay away.

The Islamic militant group also warned Arab countries against offering concessions to Israel. Hamas has spoken out consistently against the conference, called by U.S. President George W. Bush to promote peace between Israel and the Palestinians. Hamas has said any decisions made there would not be binding”

Israel has no interest in any peace deal…it has the full support from its biggest patron, the U.S., in in its continual occupation of palestinians land through the barrel of the gun. Its the palestinians that are suffering for over half a century under its brutal occupation and living life in hell. It behooves the international community to support all organizations that are trying to fight Israeli occupation.

Israel would much rather be right than happy. Ultimately, they’re neither and it shows.

Here is a country that could have easily dovetailed its standing on the World’s stage as a honorable and esteemable player. Today Israel is a Global disgrace, for Israel more is never enough, humility and respect eludes them. Contempt follows them.

While this is really at its core an Israeli affliction it has infected America now too and false Media the vector.
Still stuck in puckyballs of denial, just look around.
