Uh, Thomas, they do have rather large fields of both oil and gas (natural). China is very interested in this as is Thailand. They are both doing exploration work as I write this.
That aside, your point is well taken.

Forget the monks protest. If you want American help in deposing the military junta send your geologists out to discover oil.Cheney will claim Mohammed Atta met with the junta leader in Czeckoslavakia and we will be there. It might be the freedom fighters from Blackwater but do not worry you will not be able to tell the difference.

Ngo Dinh Diem of old South Vietnam regime will surely reappear without CIA’s clandestin campaign. It should need some inside highly paid servants from the military government.

Living here in Thailand, I can only hope Aung San Suu Kyi remains well and safe. She is brave beyond belief. She should be an inspiration to those living in trying times in the U.S. At 62, she is a model of courage and resistance to the evils of tyranny; something Americans could learn from. I hope Americans never have to endure this, but I fear they are closer than they believe and asleep at the wheel.
