File this one under “Good Uses of Journalistic Resources”:  The Associated Press marshaled its fact-checking talents and expertise to dissect President Bush’s speech on Thursday, issuing corrections to some of Bush’s claims in this handy point-by-point analysis.

h/t to Truthdig commenter “Jimmy.”

AP via Editor & Publisher:

BUSH SAID:

“Anbar province is a good example of how our strategy is working,” Bush said, noting that just last year U.S. intelligence analysts had written off the Sunni area as “lost to al-Qaida.”

You mean that Bu$h is actually going to let the real facts get in his way. Whatever will he do if the truth comes out and his little lying vendetta for daddy/oil theft schemes are exposed to everyone? What would Der Karl do?

Does this mean that the efforts of the blogosphere to bring some journalistic standards (like fact checking instead of simply echoing talking points) is starting to have some effect?

I sure hope so, the loss on journalistic integrity was a significant factor in bringing us to our current sorry state.
