Lost Nukes Headed to Iran?

Posted on Sep 7, 2007

Remember that B-52 that accidentally took some nukes on a joyride? The whole episode doesn’t make much sense to Larry Johnson, a former employee of the CIA and the State Department’s counterterrorism office, who wonders if it’s more than a coincidence that the plane landed at Barksdale Air Force Base, which a former B-52 pilot friend tells him is “a jumping off point for Middle East operations.”

(h/t: Pete Zacchino)

TPM Café:

Why the hubbub over a B-52 taking off from a B-52 base in Minot, North Dakota and subsequently landing at a B-52 base in Barksdale, Louisiana? That’s like getting excited if you see a postal worker in uniform walking out of a post office. And how does someone watching a B-52 land identify the cruise missiles as nukes? It just does not make sense.

So I called a old friend and retired B-52 pilot and asked him. What he told me offers one compelling case of circumstantial evidence. My buddy, let’s call him Jack D. Ripper, reminded me that the only times you put weapons on a plane is when they are on alert or if you are tasked to move the weapons to a specific site.

Then he told me something I had not heard before.

ok people this is not an intellectual exercise. We are not trying to find the missing nukes. None of us no where they went or what is planned for them.
What we do know, if you’ve been following the story, is that someone in our government or country let five or six of the deadliest weapons on earth go somewhere else.

So at this point i don’t care where they went or who
they are pointed at! The point is that someone is trading our lives, yours, our families, and mine like so much expendable cannon fonder to be wasted on there designs.

Does it matter where they went? Or what they do with them? They don’t know better than us people and my family is worth more than that. Don’t know how you feel and don’t care. When the shoe drops will you all say told you so or pray to God for forgiveness?

THIS IS NOT A DRILL! THIS IS NOT AN EXERCISE! Put away the conspiracy plots and help the world. You understand and they don’t. Make it count.

Since no one else has pointed out the obvious, I will.

An attack on Iran will drive the price of oil into uncharted territory. The U.S. leadership must be bluffing unless they indeed intend to crash the nation’s economy.

As I recall, B-52s armed with nukes flew in Viet Nam. It’s no surprise that these idiots would fly with them in the Mid-East though the insanity of doing so should be enough for us to shut this country down via a national strike.

Wow! What a show!

Disappearing nukes, return of Osama BL looking younger and healthier on video-tape, Pro-Consul Petraeus (a Latin-Roman name BTW) all gleaming with four stars and miltary garb returning to the Imperial Senate In DC like Ceasar from Gaul, the “Emperor” braying the ignorant hordes - - Iran is the mortal enemy of Pax Americana (the Neo Rome).  War! War! War!

What’s missing here?

Intelligence and intellect.

What’s not missing?

Hubris of “Capitol” of the Empire - - the DC.

Which fool would use nukes (that explode with temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius) near the world’s largest oil and gas fields?

The contemptible clan of clowns - - Kristol, Kagan, Abrams, Feith,...

Cafe has it right. As a former AF 462(Loader) I can assure you that there is no way this transfer happen on accident. Too many orders, eyes, and procedures would have to fail.

Did anybody happen to notice the wording on the LT. Thomas response…all “remaining” weapons in the Minot arsenal had been accounted for. The guy was throwing us a bone folks!

Did anyone notice that the Ramstein terrorist alert happen at precisely the same time, locking down the base from prying eyes.

I don’t know where this leads, who has them, or if and where they will be used. The point is that if three courageous officers hadn’t given up there careers, and maybe much more, by going to the press instead of there superiors, we would have no clue.

Please don’t let this story die! Keep talking and maybe those responsible will have second thoughts about there ability to get away with this. Even if they do get away with it, or God forbid see them used, people will be armed with the truth and act accordingly.

So this unaware pilot landed in Louisiana not knowing nukes aboard? Find it hard to believe. Now what country is closer than Iran that we might test drive these ALCM’s on? One we are not currently actively destroying at this time.

The issue with this whole debacle as well as all the rest of them, is that after the neocons took control the INCREDULOUS has turned out to be TRUE!

Secretive and suspicious activities are consistently turning up.  There are still many serious unanswered allegations concerning 911 attack, corporate fraud, voting fraud, illegal toxic dumping, an illegal war, the undermining of the constitution, illegal wiretapping, etc..etc.  Where or when will the list end.  The neocons undermined almost all the departments put in place to be a check or balance for every other department.

The best thing we can do is put our collective heads together and keep coming up with THEORIES and piece meal this thing together.  We have EVERY reason to believe that a conspiracy is taking place.

The U.S. has new definition of reducing the weapons stock piles as part of the treaty? Use them on another country? And, yet we call ourselves a civilized society and others evil.

You know… this is the point where the guy in the suit talks into the mic, “I can neither confirm or deny…”

How can I put this…

Let’s say you are Rambo holding a belt-fed machine gun and you want to “mow down” that dastardly enemy.  You have a choice of a belt of ammunition with 100 bullets… and a choice of a belt of ammunition with 500 bullets.  Which one would you pick?

Don’t think in terms of “where they are”... think in terms of “how many are there?”

i assumed we had nukes all over the mideast, for years. i assumed that our carriers, already in the persian gulf,to be loaded with nukes. let’s not forget our good friends in isreal. so,what’s a few more? i find it very amusing that this story leaked out. osama’s new tape was really amusing too. does he really still use tape? the man has a satellite phone and the internet for christ’s sake. i have a really good spare webcam that he’s welcome to, he has to pay the fedex.

“In any case, ALCM Air Launched Cruise Missles would be a poor choice for an attack on Iran. The supposed targets in Iran need low yeield bunkerbuster type weapons, these babies are not that.”

True… but, that is assuming that the weapons are meant for a strike on IRAN.

Who else might think America having control of all of the oil in the Middle East might not be in their best interests?

Russia… China… both nuclear powers.

I speculate in `The Perfect Storm; oil, nuclear weapons, and Israel` that these nuclear missiles aren’t to strike Iran, but, to be front loaded as a threat to Russia and China to stay out of the Middle East as we take over the oil.

Lets not go running off on conspiracies. At least not without examing what makes sense. There are some pretty good reasons to think this is a good old-fashioned screwup. (The worst Nuke screwup in decades, if not ever).

In any case, ALCM Air Launched Cruise Missles would be a poor choice for an attack on Iran. The supposed targets in Iran need low yeield bunkerbuster type weapons, these babies are not that. Worse, they travel slowly, and are somewhat vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire. It would be really ironic if we sent these babies into Iran to destroy their Nuke capabilities, and then have one shot down, and the Iranians in possesion of an advanced Nuke weapon!

So serious screwup for sure, not a Bush/Cheney secret plan. The military has seriously downgraded the status of those tending the Nukes, in favor of sending anyone who isn’t a pilot to join the surge. This is likely a result of that downgrading of the function.

Wheels within wheels inside of more wheels.
American politics has engendered no end of conspiracy theories since the 50’s.
Remember floride in the water systems?
Some have almost proven out, others seem to have died a natural death and others linger on.
This Administration with its love of secrecy, actually a need for secrecy since they seldom have any clue what they are actually causing, has re-ignited many old ones and spawned countless new ones.
The main figures, Shrub the cheerful idiot and the Shootist, a greedy evil person in the flesh, are almost straight from Central Casting for these theories to gain momentum.
I would dearly hope that it takes more than the authority of some AF officer, even of Staff rank, in order for Nuclear Weapons to be moved cross country.
But at least in this instance, someone higher than a Sgt. was ‘punished’. Or so we are told. But, we have been lied to before, and often.
