Two and a half months after his arrest in the Minneapolis airport, Sen. Larry Craig’s conversation at the scene of the incident with the policemen who apprehended him has been released. Follow the link below for the full transcript.

CNN:

Police Sgt. Dave Karsnia: Okay, um, I just wanna start off with a your side of the story, okay. So, a ...

Craig: So I go into the bathroom here as I normally do. I’m a commuter too here.

Karsnia: Okay.

Craig: I sit down, um, to go to the bathroom and, ah, you said our feet bumped. I believe they did, ah, because I reached down and scooted over and, um, the next thing I knew, under the bathroom divider comes a card that says police. Now, um, (sigh) that’s about as far as I can take it, I don’t know of anything else. Ah, your foot came toward mine, mine came towards yours. Was that natural? I don’t know. Did we bump? Yes, I think we did. You said so. I don’t disagree with that.

Ahh…that explains why Craig pled guilty.

Spin it any way you want to, but if Craig had been innocent, he would have been demanding a lawyer; not plea bargining.

I need to understand how Craig could physically swipe his left hand, palm up under the divider.  If I sit and try to keep my feet on the floor, it is a real stretch to go across my body with my left hand palm up!  Why wouldn’t Craig have used his right hand. It would have been simpler.

This makes me question the cop’s observation skills.
Then when you read the very subjective statements made by the cop it makes me wonder if he’s not gay and would have solicited Craig first!
For example why would Dave Karsnia say..“Okay. I don’t want to get into a pissing match here.”
What did Craig say that would illicit above statement?
Then Karsnia says:“Okay. So we’ll start over, you’re gonna get out of here. You’re gonna have to pay a fine and that will be it. Okay. I don’t call media, I don’t do any of that type of crap.”
Who said anything about the “media”?
then Karsnia says: “I saw your left hand and I could see the gold wedding ring when it when it went across. I could see that. On your left hand, I could see that.”
AND then:
Karsnia says in an offended manner:” And I, I’m not dumb, you can say I don’t recall…

Craig: “If I had turned sideways, that was the only way I could get my left hand over there.

DK: it’s not that hard for me to reach. (inaudible) it’s not that hard. I see it happen everyday out here now.

See this is where it breaks down!!!
I’m the same age as Craig and at our age it becomes more difficult to reach across our body, with our fee to the ground and palm up swipe the divider!
This cop is at least 2 decades younger!
So I think the cop has more questionable statements than Craig.

What a bunch of crap. (LOL)
If that constitues “soliciting” we are really in deep dodo.

I had visions of craig on his knees, bobing back a forth with his head making dick sucking motions….now that would be something.

The police are really fucked.

Reading the transcriptall I see are two seriously demented police facists trying to entrap someone.

I don’t know what “kind” of sex my neighbor has, because I don’t CARE.  I don’t know what kind of sex most politicians have because I don’t CARE.  I don’t know what kind of sex my children have with their others because I don’t CARE.  I think maybe the question is: WHY do so many people CARE what CONSENSUAL people do!?

The only private sex life I know about is mine until someone INSISTS upon making their business or someone else’s business, MY BUSINESS! and I DON’T LIKE IT!  It’s none of my business, I don’t CARE, shut up.

I don’t care that Ted Haggart is gay, I CARE that he’s a LIAR.  So, I haven’t looked into it, what kind of senator was Mr. Craig….

Bet Craig has slapped his head for not thinking of that one.

Hey, wait a second now.  We all know that Senator Craig is an American Hero in it’s purest form.  He was working undercover checking potential passengers for shoe bombs.

Cyrena, a “perversion,” is something that interferes with an individual’s true pathway in life. (This is a from-memory paraphrase - my dictionary & thesaurus are packed awaiting our move).

The word is thrown around so casually and inaccurately that, as with many other formerly useful terms in our language, it has become perverted itself. (The word “gay” comes to mind.)

Our religions and social conditioning at home and school team up to fashion each newborn into a “good little consumer/reproduction machine.” The individual is created to serve society not the other way around.

And with the vast majority of people the conditioning works. (Why shouldn’t it - we’ve had thousands of years to perfect it!) But what’s always overlooked is the reality that each individual is UNIQUE - we are not clones stamped out in cookie-cutter fashion to be toyed with at the whim of some greedy, power-mad zealots wielding some fantastic, hocus-pocus philosophy.

So, in fact, each of us is “perverted” to some degree from our “normal course.” What’s at issue is what perversion and by how much.

I ask, could leaving everyone alone to become whatever they might become produce any worse results that what we’re doing now?

A final tangential thought - IMHO, a LOT of the problems we face in our modern society are DIRECTLY CAUSED by our inability/unwillingness to put the individual’s needs FIRST. A very simple illustration - a person in a wheelchair, until very recently, was SEVERELY mobility handicapped - there was practically no place they could go without assistance. Why? Because it never dawned on us, the ambulatory majority, that if we simply replaced stairs with ramps, not only could ambulatory people get around easily, those in wheelchairs COULD MOVE AROUND AS WELL! It is more often our THINKING (rather, lack of it) that causes problems for minorities - not the fact that the individual is a member of a minority with some difference from the majority. (Of course, even using the word “majority” is misleading - it seems to me that any “majority” is composed of “minorities” - but that’s another discussion).

I don’t believe there is any inherent pathology in being gay. If left alone to live and love without prejudice and harassment, it’s my view there’d be no greater incidence of aberrant or anti-social behavior amongst gays than straights. (Try making all public washrooms UNISEX and watch the fun! I wonder how much “booth footsie” would be played then?)

I ask, don’t you think that if YOU were treated as many gays are in our “enlightened” society, you might have a few “mental problems” too? I think it’s a MIRACLE that more gay people aren’t dysfunctionally mentally ill given the bullshit nonsense that’s rained down upon them by an outdated, bigoted, ignorant social structure led by those who should know better.

There was an ex-DA in Kaufman County, Texas (Eastern neighbor to Dallas County that got caught up in the Murphy/NBC pervert sting that committed suicide.
His sister is suing. Guess she wasn’t embarrassed enough.
Personally, I have no real problem with any Gays. Leave me and mine alone and I’ll do the same.
I have never been approached in a mens room, although there are many that I wouldn’t go into. At a public facilty like an Airport, folks should be able to use them without being ‘approached’ by such folks.
Granted what the Senator did was not an overt act. Still, saying that he had to spread his legs to keep his pants from sliding down is lame at best.
I do the same and have never had to put my foot under the partition. And if someone else did, I sure as hell ain’t gonna play ‘footsie’ with them.
To me, it isn’t the fact that he has gay ways, it’s the fact that he is a hypocrite about it.
At least the Republican’s are calling upon him to leave the Senate. That is much better than their past claims that it is a Democrat smear tactic, something the Shrubs’ branch of the GOP has all but perfected.

The people one should question are the people of Idaho who back his right wing homophobia by rewarding him time after time with election victories. Our elected officials as much as we hate to admit it reflect us.So the bottom line is if you go to a public restroom in Idaho be ready for action.

Well Mid Cities Mike,

You’re right about the operative word here being “people”. And, as awful as it is…the damage to the psyche that society places on anyone they’ve deemed “different”, I have to admit that I’m getting sick of hearing about him, and I damn sure can’t feel sorry for him either.

He’s a pervert like any other pervert, and the hypocrisy is typical of most perverts, which is why we find them enscounced in the highest halls of government, alleged believers and the like. Look at Clarence Thomas. They’re everywhere, and they don’t need to be gay to be perverts. In fact, I think there are statistics that prove out that these perversions are far more in evidence among the supposed “straight” population than the gay or lesbian population. That doesn’t surprise me either.

In the meantime, I’m STILL sick of hearing about him, but at least they aren’t still dogging Michael Vick.
