Sadly, news of suicide bombings in Iraq has become commonplace, and Tuesday was a particularly bloody day, with four separate attacks in the northwest Yazidi community that claimed at least 200 lives and injured hundreds more.

AP via Huffington Post:

The bombs tore through communities near Qahataniya, 75 miles west of Mosul, Iraq’s third-largest city, according to Iraq Army Capt. Mohammed Ahmed and Abdul-Rahman al-Shimiri, the top government official in the area.

great_satan, you are correct and I made a mistake. It was a Yezidi girl killed by members of her village.

God help us all because Allah the God of Islam is trying to kill us all. GW still thinks they are peacefull.

I don’t think you should be afraid of Allah, Desertdude. I mean, not unless you believe in the teachings of Islam.

Meantime, the shrub doesn’t think they’re peaceful, because the shrub doesn’t have a clue to who they are. Besides that, the shrub doesn’t “think”.

You are the most common sort of bigot. i assume your objection to KKKristianity is the “ristianity” part and not the KKK part. I contest your right to exist as an organism on this planet.

Frank,
While I have general sympathy for the Yazid peoples, unless some recent investigation has cntradicted all initial reports..it was a Yazidi village that stoned the muslim girl, for her relationship with a muslim boy and rumored conversion.
Looking into the matter at the time, it was a bit difficult to discern to what degree this stoning was a yazidi thing or a general tribal Kurdish thing, though of course the two would overlap considerably.
The act was heinous and already the retaliation was injustly severe, with 20 Yazidi men being assisnated ona bus.
Aside from the monomaiacal secterianism of radical Islam, I am not sure of the motives for such an assualt as this recent one.
However, because of a long persecution from both Saddam Hussein’s regime and muslims in general, the Yazidi are among the strongest supporters of American occupation. It has simply helped them to live in the peaceful isolation that they desire. However this support is a matter of sympathy, graciousnees toward US soldiers and necessarily non-cooperation with anti-US retaliation.

on any given day of the week,i know more about the moslem world than bush or any of the other neocons ever knew. now i find, i know less than i thought i did. The Yazidi, who heard of them before today? 5 min spent on wikipedia, brought many laughs. these people are even dumber than the islamics, but maybe not as dumb as your average KKKristians. melek ta’us rules as no other peacock can.

Actually ROWDY, I knew who they were, and anyone who has been reading the news for the past 4 1/2 years of the occupation would at least be familiar with the name and location, so...I guess you aren’t quite as “informed” about the geography or the culture of the Middle East, or Islam-Muslims in general.

And, while wikipedia can be a helpful tool for those who don’t have the time, money, or inclination to study these things more rigorously, it isn’t exactly the “authority” on this.

Chances are, this population of Muslims probably thinks you’re as dumb as you think they are.

‘Elsewhere, a U.S. transport helicopter crashed near an air base in western Iraq, KILLING FIVE troopers, the military said. The CH-47 Chinook helicopter was conducting a routine post-maintenance test flight when it went down near Taqaddum air base, the U.S. military said.’

‘FOUR other U.S. soldiers were reported KILLED in combat _ three in an explosion near their vehicle Monday in the northwestern Ninevah province. The fourth died of wounds suffered in western Baghdad.’

JUST ANOTHER UNEVENTFUL DAY ON BUSH’S CALENDAR.  THE REPERCUSSIONS AND REVERBERATIONS OF ALL OF THIS FUTILE VIOLENCE IS A DISGRACE.

How can they honestly believe Petraus, the ‘brilliant’ Princeton-educated military person, and this so-called ‘SURGE’.  It is ALL an exercise in futility.

What was the crime these people committed that justified their deaths in the eyes of the killers?  Simple. they were not followers of Islam.  They were Yezidi, people of the same faith as the young man whose muslim teenage girlfriend was stoned to death just for loving him, while her muslim village looked on.

Religion of peace, indeed.
