McCain site
cracked.com

Cracked.com has a review of the candidates’ websites, including “awkward attempts at hipness” and “weirdest moments.” John McCain’s virtual outpost, for example, won this critique: “The main image from the pre-site landing page essentially says, ‘Welcome to the online obituary for the late Senator John McCain.’ ”

Cracked.com:

Tommy Thompson (tommy2008.com):

OVERALL IMPRESSION
Both his site’s URL and its “The Tour” section could lead easily confused voters (most, according to the last election) to think that the site is in fact promoting next year’s traveling revival of the Who’s idiotic rock opera.

AWKWARD ATTEMPT AT HIPNESS
The homepage’s invitation to “visit Tommy” on Flickr, which is a site that hosts photos and in no way facilitates “visiting.” The Flickr page does, however, host this image of Thompson spying on his staff in the shower.

WEIRDEST MOMENT
Thompson, a man with no formal medical training, claims that he will cure breast cancer. Perhaps more ludicrous: He claims that he can become president.

In respect to McCain, what a pity! At one time, if I had ever tinkered with the idea of voting for a Republican, it would have been him. Now, since he hitched his star to Bush and his war, I have lost all respect for him. You would think that after having suffered through Vietnam, also a trumped up war, he would know better. He has been brain washed, OK, but it did not occur in his Vietnam prison time!

Since my last post, I watched Bill Moyer’s Journal. The program debating ...

I now realize there are only three true statesman running for president, Gravel, Kucinich and Paul. The three the media chooses to ignore.

The rest are just professional politicians.

And being professional politicians they have only one goal:

To satisfy the outlines of their various “political” advisers and staffers. And that advise and council is likewise based on political perceptions. Which in turn is based on pleasing their respective political Party leadership.

So what we have are a group of men and one women who are running against each other, playing off of each other and believe it or not folks ... not paying one bit of attention to “We The People” which pretty well lets us all know, right now, how much time and attention they give to ...

The Constitution of the United States

Long way of saying, they are all totally irrelevant, totally unqualified and terribly scary!

And that includes Hillary and Obama.

The websites are as much of a laugh as the fight for the earliest primary, a matter of significance only to the media, which stands to profit by lengthening the duration of a campaign as much as possible. Our entire election system has become a joke.

In a way, it’s kinda better than when I was a kid. Back then you got to stand in a crowd by a train or bus-stop, jump up and down in the hope you would get a glimpse of the candidate. Listen to his five minute speech through a bull-horn, most of which you couldn’t understand, buy a button and go home.

And then, based on what your folks said, decide who you would vote for ... if you were old enough to vote.

Nowadays, thanks to the internet, those candidates are not only in your face, you can read and hear over and over again what they’ve got to say, most of which you still cant understand. And when you’re sick of looking at them you can go to a different site.

But the best ... the very best is you can click on [comment] and let it rip!
And sometimes they answer!

But I agree ... they all need help. Like the man said, ” ... the grandparent-ish crowd currently running for our highest office has no idea what the Web is, let alone how to create a decent website on it ... misguided, awkward campaign websites designed by the leading presidential candidates (and the bib-wearing, barely functional staffers who have so poorly advised them).”

Which also explains why the “debates” TV spots and news releases are so borrrring and trite.

At least last time around we had Dean. He was actually fun to listen to, until the media told us we shouldn’t, which helped us accept how quickly and effectively his future in the campaign was fixed.

The media?
They don’t do that do they?
Oh yes, they most certainly do.
[who owns them?]

And as boring as a bad site can be, that’s the one thing that makes the Web, the winner over media of any other form!

It also explains why America really isn’t having a love affair with any of the candidates.

Wouldn’t it just be the most refreshing thing in the world if a candidate opened their mouth and just let the real person inside go?
Like Dean did ...
