Sen. Stevens’ Home Raided by FBI

The FBI has raided the home of Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican in the U.S. Senate’s history, who famously described the Internet as “a series of tubes.” Agents were apparently searching for documents related to a contracting company that may have profited from relationships with prominent lawmakers.

AP via CNN:

Stevens, 83, has been under a federal investigation for a 2000 renovation project more than doubling the size of his home in Girdwood that was overseen by Bill Allen, a contractor who has pleaded guilty to bribing Alaska state legislators.

Allen is founder of VECO Corp., an Alaska-based oil field services and engineering company that has reaped tens of millions of dollars in federal contracts.

Agents from the FBI and Internal Revenue Service arrived at the senator’s home Monday afternoon, said Dave Heller, FBI assistant special agent. He said he could not comment on the nature of the investigation.

Oh Ted Stevens is innocent right now. And I am sure that he will have a whopper of a story.
But, at the end, he should be found guilty and sent to prison, 83yo or not.
He knew what he was doing was wrong, but let the greed win.
Now, it’s time for Justice to win.

I heard Stevens denial on the radio this morning… he insists that he paid EVERY bill that he received.  Interesting, that he doesn’t try to claim that he was billed for all of the work done!

Here’s the thing about this old pol: every time I see him on TV, he brazenly points out that he is responsible for $3B in pork every year for Alaska.

“...and we want to export this system to IRAQ?  and we wonder why some Iraqis don’t want it?

Isn’t anyone in either political party embarrassed?

We’ve sure come a long way from Walter J. Hickel… We now know who owns Alaska!

I asked Ted Stevens (at a recent fundraiser in Anchorage) what was his exit strategy from Iraq.  He, glared up at me ( I being a female and he a 5’5 male) actually shouted at me “ If we don’t kill them there, they will kill us here in Alaska” I asked again about an exit strategy and his wife grabbed his arm and said “you don’t have to answer her questions”.  That is exactly his attitude and has been for twenty years.  Alaskans look for the “r” in the polling booth and check it.  The corruption in the Republican party here , statewide and federal is pathetic.  Four state senators indicted, Ted Steven’s son about to be indicted, Don Young , our lone congressman, about to be indicted and now Lisa Murkowski, daughter of ex senator Frank Murkowski who appointed his daughter to the US senate(after he became governor, appointed his daughterLisa Murkowski. senator for alaska) as the most qualified person to represent Alaska,, (LISA) is undergoing an ethics and perhaps felony investigation for accepting enormous sums of money from lobbyists which are also being criminally investigated by the FBI) When on earth are voters going to wake up?

MAY HAVE - who’s kidding who the only reason most of these scumbags are in office is to benefit their friends, business associates and relatives in no particular order.

This is the same Ted Stevens who told his constituents that they would damn well take the Bridge to Nowhere and be happy about it, after they offered to release that money allocated to the Bridge that they didn’t want to the 9/11 victims’ fund.
Remember when we elected people to represent us, the citizens? It’s been a while, but that is the way it was intended to work.
Now,if only he,and Jefferson too, will get a real prison sentence.
