Gordon Brown has made an effort to keep alive the long-distance love affair between Downing Street and the White House, saying on Sunday that the world owes the U.S. a debt “for its leadership in this fight against international terrorism.” It should be noted that one of Brown’s ministers recently said Anglo-American foreign policy would not be “joined at the hip.”

BBC:

Earlier this month, Foreign Office Minister Lord Malloch Brown said it was time for a more “impartial” foreign policy and for Britain to build relationships with European leaders.

But en route to the US, Mr Brown described himself as an “Atlanticist and a great admirer of the American spirit”.

“As Prime Minister I want to do more to strengthen even further our relationship with the US,” he said.

Looks like Brown is pretty happy to toady up to the Republican interest, here.

June 17, 2008 The Real News - Public reception to the last European tour of Bush’s presidency was less than warm in the UK earlier this week. Amidst crowds of protestors crying “Terrorist”, US president George Bush and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown met at 10 Downing Street to strike new alliances in the “war on terror”.  Among these agreements: the pledging of 230 new UK troops to the cause in Afghanistan, bringing UK troop levels to their highest ever, at just over 8,000.

While Bush admitted during an interview with Fox news sister station Sky TV that his “dead or alive” statement in regards to Bin Laden “sent the wrong signal”, he maintains that Saddam Hussein’s deposition and subsequent execution was an indisputable victory in the war against terror. Bush also asserts that the people of Iraq and Afghanistan “appreciate” how tough he and PM Brown are on terror.  As the two leaders struck an agreement regarding further sanctions on Iran, Brown stressed to concerned British citizens that: “it’s in the British national interest” to confront the Taliban; “otherwise Afghanistan will come to us.”

In the same interview, Bush also offered his opinions on the current US economic crisis, claiming that “as a result of the Democratic Congress not letting us drill for oil and gas in America, our consumers are paying a higher price for gasoline.”

But does the president lose his sleep when, according to a CBS-New York Times poll, about 80 percent of Americans say the country’s on the wrong track? Says Bush: “First of all, popularity’s fleeting. And I want it to be said about George W. Bush that when he finished his presidency, he looked in the mirror at a man who did not compromise his core principles for the sake of politics or the Gallup Poll or the latest, you know, whatever.”

PM Brown, “saying on Sunday that the world owes the U.S. a debt “for its leadership in this fight against international terrorism.”

well gordie, maybe the world should start paying off the debt by sending back the $$’s it has back to the u.s. with the $ at .80, this would insure that it would get to .70 and below. or maybe you can start buying back the gold reserves you sold off over the last 10 years. you are a fool.

Does it mean, we have another poodle prime minister in Britain that we can rely on to carry our water. And the Brits thought they were changing their PM.

PM Brown, “saying on Sunday that the world owes the U.S. a debt “for its leadership in this fight against international terrorism.”

A UK Guardian opinion piece only says that Brown is meeting with Bush and recommends that Brown bring up the abuses to rights wrought by Bush policy. The strident statement above seems to indicate more betrayal of human rights principles that democracies stand for. But whatever Brown says will be ignored by an agenda-bound Bush. The Straussian neo-con “ends-justify-the-means” or “the elites know what is best for the masses” is the only gospel Shrub knows.

Mr Brown are you freaking nuts.Run as fast as you can to your plane and never talk to our President again. He took your predecessor from unparelleled popularity to the joke of the continent. You may think it is cute that he learned to talk english this week so he can communicate with you but it is all a ploy.He is trying to drag as many world leaders into hell with him as he can.In 16 mos when autistic boy is out of White House come back and start your relationship with this country. You cannot say Mr Brown you have not been warned.

“...one of Brown’s ministers recently said Anglo-American foreign policy would not be “joined at the hip.” No, it will be joined by Bush’s dick into Brown’s ass.
Brown is pethetic, just as pethetic as that Blair. What’s worse is how pethetic the British people are for allowing these two clowns (first Blair, now Brown) to continue to run their country. Tells you alot about the British people. As for the Americans, their a lost cause. They’re still taking in the ass by Bush and his cronies.
It’s all sicking.

Christ, another jackass. Why is everyone so afraid of the discredited lunatic, Bush??

I guess the British are experiencing the same shame spiral about their leadership that we are.

We know just how you feel, UK.

Nothing wrong with his stated purpose. Especially since his minister level person said that their foreign policy would not be based on our foreign policy.
Hopefully, America will soon get a President worthy of close ties with America’s traditional allies and maybe even add to that list.

Britain’s Gordon Brown becomes patron of Zionist agency
By Redress Information & Analysis

28 July 2007

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has agreed to become patron of the UK arm of the Jewish National Fund, whose funds have contributed to Israeli ethnic cleansing, the destruction of Palestinian villages and the expropriation of Palestinian land, and whose constitution requires it to promote and implement policies that discriminate against Israel’s Arab population.

Gordon Brown has crossed a new threshold on the path to becoming a fully-fledged Zionist.

According to a report in the Jewish Chronicle, Gordon Brown has agreed to become a patron of the British arm of the Jewish National Fund (JNF UK) “following an invitation from JNF UK President Gail Seal, who wrote conveying her good wishes the day after he took office”.

In a letter to Gail Seal, Gordon Brown said that he was “delighted to accept your offer to become a patron of JNF UK”. A spokesman for Brown confirmed that the British prime minister had “agreed to become a patron of JNF UK”, and that he had done so “in order to encourage their work to promote charitable projects for everyone who lives in Israel”.

In fact, far from being “a charity” that benefits “everyone who lives in Israel”, the JNF is a principal tool of Israel’s discriminatory system of land administration. Founded in 1901 to help establish a Jews-only state in the Arab country of Palestine, the JNF’s constitution requires it to benefit Jews exclusively. It therefore promotes and implements policies that discriminate against the Arab population of Israel.

The JNF is also guilty of ethnic cleansing, the destruction of Palestinian villages and the expropriation of Palestinian land. According to PalestineRemembered.com, in its operation in Israel, the JNF has

expropriated illegally most of the land of 372 Palestinian villages which had been ethnically cleansed by Zionist forces in 1948. The owners of this land are over half the UN-registered Palestinian refugees. The JNF had actively participated in the physical destruction of many villages, in evacuating these villages of their inhabitants and in military operations to conquer these villages. Today, the JNF controls over 2500 sq. km of Palestinian land which it leases to Jews only. It also planted 100 parks on Palestinian land.

In addition, the JNF has a long record of discrimination against Palestinian citizens of Israel as reported by the UN. The JNF also extends its operations by proxy or directly to the occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Gaza. All this is in clear violation of international law and particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention, which forbids the confiscation of property and settling the occupiers’ citizens in occupied territories. Ethnic cleansing, expropriation of property and destruction of houses are war crimes. As well, use of tax-exempt donations in these activities violates the domestic law in many countries where JNF is domiciled.

Since becoming prime minister at the end of June 2007, Gordon Brown has appointed several Israel apologists to key positions in the British government. He has also been at pain to stress his Christian Zionist credentials.

As patron of JNF UK, Gordon Brown will join a club that includes prominent British politicians and religious figures who, on the one hand, speak of the need for peace and justice in the Middle East while, on the other, promote and defend the racist Jews-only state of Israel. They include Tony Blair, Conservative leader David Cameron and Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, who is said to be a close friend of Brown.
