Progressive Coalition Targets Fox Advertisers

A group of progressive organizations and blogs is planning to hit Fox News where it hurts: the bank account. MoveOn.org, Brave New Films, DailyKos and others are working to compile a list of local advertisers as part of a larger pressure campaign. Fox News may have brought this on itself by successfully pressuring JetBlue to pull out as a major sponsor of the YearlyKos convention.

AP:

At least 5,000 people nationwide have signed up to compile logs on who is running commercials on Fox, [Jim] Gilliam said. The groups want to first concentrate on businesses running local ads, as opposed to national commercials.

“It’s a lot more effective for Sam’s Diner to get calls from 10 people in his town than going to the consumer complaint department of some pharmaceutical company,” Gilliam said.

Some of videos produced by Gilliam’s company compile statements made by Fox anchors and guests that the activists consider misleading, such as those that question global warming.

Well, now, any woman can testify that grabbing her purse gets her undivided attention. Ladies tend to notice the threatening tug on her purse.

Grab Brillo’s purse!

Fox Noise Channel and the Daily Censor deserve each other.

While I detest O’Reilly and the fascistic, pro-state, pro-war, anti-atheist, anti-Muslim Fox, I have almost as much contempt for the Daily Kos; they’re a “socially-aware and democratic” site, as long as you don’t spend any substantial amount of time and space criticizing Israel or AIPAC-lapdog Democrats, or praise Ron Paul or any other prominent Republican figure—even in the effort to promote peace. They are anti-war and anti-state, as long it is the correct anti-war or anti-state message according to them.

Both entities can jump in the lake.

Many former members of Kos and other blog/message board sites like LGF (the worst site out there, unless you’re a certified, superpro-war, superanti-Muslim neozio-nutcase) and Huffington Post (great content, but from my experience, they do not allow comments critical of their editors or more prominent bloggers, like Alan Dershowitz: the lying, plagiaristic, pseudo-liberal, pro-torture fink) have found a new home at smaller, less-commercialized, less fascistic, or less paranoid-schizophrenic sites like Truthdig, DissidentVoice, ThePeoplesVoice, WakeUpFromYourSlumber, and InformationClearingHouse. And to them, I say WTF’nG.

A tiny sample of their experiences, as posted on one such site:

‘The Kitty Litter Kos’

‘It Sure Smells Like a Right Wing Zionist Cabal at The Daily Kos’

Request that the advertisers pull their ads from a network that has as one of its stars a sexual deviant, Bill O’Reilly.

Fox is owned by News Corp. http://www.newscorp.com/ So is Myspace and how many other news publications which have their own blogs. If you want to hurt Murdoch, cancel your MySpace blogs for a start!

If he hates the net so much, he’ll rue the day he started this campaign…...

Bravo, I am all for it. They regularly do things that are offensive. The other day they put a (D) in caption about a Republican, who’d disagreed with the rightwing propaganda.
