The White House isn’t taking kindly to former President Bill Clinton’s characterization of the Libby commutation as being “consistent with their philosophy; they believe that they should be able to do what they want to do. ...” Oh, snap!

Bush spokesman Tony Snow fired back with a reference to Clinton’s own pardon record: “I don’t know what Arkansan is for chutzpah, but this is a gigantic case of it.”

For the record, as they speak English in Arkansas, so one might say “unmitigated gall” or “brazenness.”

AP:

WASHINGTON (AP)—The White House on Thursday made fun of former President Clinton and his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, for criticizing President Bush’s decision to erase the prison sentence of former aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby.

“I don’t know what Arkansan is for chutzpah, but this is a gigantic case of it,” presidential spokesman Tony Snow said.

In his commutation decision, Bush left a $250,000 fine. Libby paid the fine on Thursday.

The question to ask the republicans running for President is if they would pardon Bush and Cheney. The way things are looking the 26 months Libby got will look like a vacation if we get a spine and try them for war crimes.

The end of term Presidential pardons have been around for a long time. But that doesn’t mean that they should stay around.
The outrage over this commutation is because it came during the term and was solely done to prevent Congress from being over-run by aide’s and staffer’s wanting to make a deal and thus expose all the other dirty lies and secrets that the Shrub has.
You will note that Scooter has already paid his 1/4 million fine with a check.
This whole administration will be a textbook case of what is wrong in American Politics.
Between an outmoded Electoral College in 2000 and Diebold Magic Voting Machines in 04, this country was saddled with the worst Administration in memory.

A nation of laws with an executive who needs not follow them. Good ol American hypocrisy. I think I have been wrong about Bush. He IS following precedent. The precedent of hypocrisy.

If we don’t change our nation…they will [and are].

Tony Snow,
Cancer or no cancer, you’re a cancer. A blight on America. You’re nothing but a cheap charlatan, posing in the “spokesman’s” position for the biggest “dummy” in our country’s sad history. How can you shave your face each morning, you “waste of human flesh”? How can you say, with a straight face the shit you say? May you, and every member of your blood be damned and die painful, and horrible, deaths. How’s THAT for a left-winger? You “piece of dog shit. I see you on the news and you, truthfully, disgust me. You have no love of my country. You have no love for which it stands. You’re just a meaningless “shill” for these neocon bastards that gained power through elicit means (a.k.a.the Supremes). When the day of reckoning comes, and it will, you and yours will pay dearly. Cancer or not, you WILL pay. You, and those around you, are TRAITORS !!!  And, in this country, TRAITORS DIE !!! I hope every momrent left in your sorry life is, beyond, painful. I hope that you see where you sold us out didn’t help you, one iota. You deserve all the pain & suffering that Mother Nature can ensure. You, definately, deserve whatever she can provide. Have a “shitty” life, you worm.

Never thought I’d agree with the Bush administration on any issue, BUT prove me wrong!!! Clinton’s self-serving pardons equal and exceed any damage done by the libby pardon, and where were all these critics when Bush (the senior) pardoned the Iran Contra crooks… All far more disgusting than this pardon…

People in Glass houses and all that.

This person Libby who does not have to face jail time is a little different than a pardon, Clinton pardoned when he was leaving office, Bush is issued a partial pardon before his term is up, and this Libby lied to protect the vice because we went to war on a lie, so this lie is causing people to die and probably for oil.
