The Senate Judiciary Committee is going big-game hunting with a slew of subpoenas related to the Bush administration’s controversial eavesdropping program.  Chairman Patrick Leahy has signed subpoenas for Dick Cheney’s office, the White House, the Justice Department and the National Security Council.

AP via New York Times:

The committee wants documents that might shed light on internal disputes within the administration over the legality of the program, which Bush put under court review earlier this year.

‘‘Our attempts to obtain information through testimony of administration witnesses have been met with a consistent pattern of evasion and misdirection,’’ Leahy said in his cover letters for the subpoenas. ‘‘There is no legitimate argument for withholding the requested materials from this committee.’‘

Shrub and his master Cheney will just refuse to comply, and the ensuing Constitutional show-down will fall into the hands of a stacked Supreme Court.  I so desperately want to see these criminals frog-marched into jail cells, but I fear the evildoers will end up prevailing.  I will gratefully eat crow with a huge smile if I turn out to be wrong.

Yeah, I have high hopes that Cheney’s ass will be impeached by September. Pelosi is just being cagey. So she said impeachment is “off the table”. Fine, investigations are going on “under the table” and before you know it impeachment is going to be the elephant in the room even Pelosi can’t ignore.

It’s not like Patrick Leahy has a lot of vocal support from the likes of Nancy Pelosi. Must be polite you know. Wouldn’t want to offend anyone. Must show the utmost of respect for thieves, thugs and murderers in high office.

Is Scooter above the law Libby in prison yet? Okay it’s not really a prison. More like a camp apparently. But is he there yet?

Cheney wipes his ass with subpoenas when he doesn’t have a copy of the Constitution or Bill of Rights handy. Let’s see, Bu$hChen have the loaded the Supreme Court and most of the lower courts, and have enough votes in either house to block anything more serious. Just another act being played out at the Theater of the Absurd on the Potomac for the few still watching.

Holy Shit!!! For a political junkie, this is all just too much stimulation. I mean, it’s really all coming down the pike at once now. (I mean, it HAS been, but this just hitches it up yet another notch). Senator Leahy, Harry Waxman, Schumer, have been working diligently to get to the bottom of this stuff. I think we’re getting closer.

And, I think that’s why more and more of these previously hard-line war supporters have started to speak…like Lugar, or whatever his name is. I don’t think it’s any change of heart, but all just the realpolitik of the desperation that the Repubs find themselves in.

Actually, this just sounds like we might finally be getting closer to that same event from the Nixon crash, when the senior dudes had to make that walk to the Oval office, and tell THAT “Tricky Dick”, that his time was up, and that he should go quietly, to avoid the straigt-jacket and/or the handcuffs.

It’s that time. Arlen Specter has been speaking, and now I expect that John Warner will have to weigh-in soon as well. Another long walk is needed.

Yeeeesssssss!

Now you know there will be more evasive tactics. Let’s see how much more creative ‘ol chee chee cheney will be to get out of this one.

Eventually, the walls will close tight enough around his fat mid-section to press the air right out of his ass.
