Hatshepsut
news.bbc.co.uk

Egyptologists have discovered what they believe to be the 3,000-year-old remains of Egypt’s most powerful female ruler, Hatshepsut. The original wicked stepmother, Hatshepsut usurped the throne from her stepson, who probably retaliated after her reign by trying to obliterate any record of her.

BBC:

It is being billed as the biggest archaeological find in Egypt since the 1922 discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb.

I see that Thutmosis III followers (guys mainly) still rule the roost and get queasy about assertive women.  Wow, this one actually wore a beard too.

Hillary Clinton, who seeks to replace a male ruler, presents a more current parallel than a hotel heiress, Sharon Ton Marriot, or whatever her name is.

I guess I can see how this might not be the right forum for this information, but I got a real giggle over comparing Hapshetsup to Paris Hilton.

Hapshetsup could TOTALLY take Paris.

While interesting, I am wondering what the hell this story is doing on Truthdig, and how will it help us reclaim our country from the neo-con fascists? It’s a distraction from more important issues, much the same as Paris Hilton in the MSM.

If the story is only meant as ‘filler’ I would suggest there are ample excellent bloggers on this site who would be more than happy to supply you with some interesting papers & commentary.
