Forgive me, national-security-4-us, I just could not bring myself to read past the first three sentences of your post because it was in ALL CAPS and I find that tedious to slog through.  Typing in all caps is the equivalent of shouting at someone continuously while trying to engage them in a normal conversation. Most people will simply walk away out of annoyance, just as most will simply ignore your posts and blog entries without reading them.  If you have anything of value to say, the inherent merit of your arguments should be evident enough to engage a reader without the use of textual shouting.

Also, when I reached the phrase ‘JUDGEMENT DAY’, it occurred to me that if you actually believe in that sort of mythology then your entire world view is likely tainted by a delusional belief system.

I find it amusing that every time I point out the irrationality of some contrarian blowhard posting a rant here, the typical responses suggest I must be a Bush supporter (my friends would get a laugh out of that) or that I must be out of touch with reality. Neither could be further from the truth.

As for the release of the information that is forth-
coming it isn’t like it is going to be anything new
many books have already released most if not all of these CRIMES from people/authors who were in the KNOW…

While it is always of interest to scholars to gain access to declassified documents, this by no means suggests that the CIA is going to bare all its secrets.

One particularly interesting question entails the assassination of Orlando Lettelier in Washington DC.  Eight weeks before the assassination, on July 26, 1976, George Landau, the Ambassador to Paraguay, sent a cable to the Director of Central Intelligence, George H. W. Bush.  In it, Landau noted that he had received a request by the Paraguayan government to provide U.S. entry visas to two Chilean intelligence officers of the DINA with Paraguayan passports who claimed that they would be meeting with top CIA officials in Washington.  Bush did not send a reply until August 4, at which time he told Landau that the CIA “wanted nothing to do with the mission.” But by then Landau had already issued the visas.

In “Prelude to Terror,” Joseph Trento places the blame for the delay on Bush’s assistant, Ted Shackley whom he claims “sat on the cable.” While that is certainly possible, it is also possible that Bush chose to delay sending the reply until he knew the DINA agents were on their way, and then formulated the reply’s content in order to erect a plausible denial.  This latter possibility is enhanced by the fact that the CIA did nothing to stop the DINA agents, who openly entered the country on Aug. 22, even after the Chilean Embassy notified the CIA of the agents’ arrival in Washinton D.C.

[In “Plausible Denial,” Mark Lane, referencing Iran/Contra testimony, noted:  “Bush routinely keeps a diary of plausible deniability, with the same skill employed by a crooked accountant who maintains two sets of corporate books, one of them cooked."]

During the ensuing Justice Department investigation, Bush failed to turn over CIA files and, per Trento, “defended the DINA against accusations that it conducted the assassination.” On Sept. 21, 2006 Peter Kornbluh, a senior analyst with the National Security Archive told Amy Goodman on Democracy Now! that in 2000 his organization requested the documentation pertaining to the Lettelier assassination be reclassified.  The investigation was reopened.  Then George W. Bush assumed power.  The documents have never been released.

I really don’t worry to much about the monitors looking at the little people myself anymore, I know people who monitor surveillance vidoes for a living and apparently the turnover rate is pretty high. It seems it’s one of the most boring jobs imaginable. It must get a little tedious for example reading that yet another bunch of lefty netheads hate Bush.

That said this whole surveillance thing needs to be turned on its head. We need to aim Big Brother’s telescreens the other way. In not so ancient times people relyed on the surveillance of a god to check the abuse of power in society so the idea of ubiquitous constant oversight of the rich and powerful has been around for a long time, we just need to make it real.

We need to think about insecurity in the context of a trickle down theory. I subscribe to the idea that the root causes of the worst insecurity on our planet stems from the self-interested machianations of the senior-most government and corporate officials running it. Their insecurity constantly rains down around us in a steady downpour.

The only way to strengthen and protect our right to privacy and peace of mind is to weaken and eliminate their right to secrecy. Aiming our security measures at the most powerful level of society should hopefully cause honesty and transparency to trickle down through the rest of society, just like wealth is supposed to, except for real. It would also be far more cost effective to monitor a few thousand individuals than it would to monitor a few billion don’t you think?

If there was ever a time or a place for believing your either with us or against us, its for situations like this. You can bet they feel the same way.

I agree with the other posters here. Nothing has changed! In 40 years, they may release documents that have everyone in shock, other than those of us who know the truth. It amazes me that these types of documents continue to surface and still citizens of America accept official stories about 9-11, the WMD’s in Iraq, and so forth. It’s time for Middle America to stand up, get informed, and start doing something about it.
