Afghan President Hamad Karzai is warning foreign troops that more civilian deaths would seriously compromise Afghan citizens’ support (such as it is) for NATO-affiliated forces in their country.

BBC:

Nato’s secretary general has called for an investigation into the killings of 25 civilians in an air strike in the Afghan province of Helmand.

Speaking in Quebec City, Canada, Mr de Hoop Scheffer said no Nato, coalition or Afghan soldier would knowingly take aim at a civilian, and accused the Taleban of using civilians as human shields.

“Each innocent civilian victim is one too many,” he said. “Unfortunately it happens.”

“It’s important to avoid these mistakes because we must keep the support of the large majority of the Afghan population.”

I hope NATO uses a long stick to probe those casualties. It’s pretty hot over there and it makes sense to do probing like this at a distance.

It’s not enough just to kill Afghan civilians now:

Wonderful, another NATO anal probe. Why waste anyone’s time with this crap. They should just do what they do best, hand out boxes of American taxpayer dollars to the victims families and stop any pretense of giving a shit. After all in our one big corporately run world, everything is negotiable.

So Karzai is warning the ‘foreign troops’ (read: US) that support him that further civilian casualties will ‘seriously compromise’ citizen support of his government?

That’s true, the dead ones won’t be able to vote, and their friends and families may choose another candidate.

These politicians are so obtuse, no matter their nationality.

Why doesn’t Karzai just say, ‘Hey, you assh*le foreign (read: US) troops, quit shooting my voters’.

Get ready for more civilian casualties, a lot more, thanks to the demented NeoCONS and the rabid Likudniks:

A third US carrier, the nuclear-powered USS Enterprise Strike Group is speeding towards the Persian Gulf

June 21, 2007, 12:17 PM (GMT+02:00)

The USS Enterprise CVN 65-Big E Strike Group, the US Navy’s largest air carrier, will join the USS Stennis and the USS Nimitz carriers, building up the largest sea, air, marine concentration the United States has ever deployed opposite Iran.

This goes towards making good on the assurances of four carriers US Vice President Dick Cheney offered the Gulf and Middle East nations during his May tour of the region.

Washington is considering deploying the fourth US carrier for the region in the Red Sea opposite Saudi Arabian western coast to secure the three US carriers in the Gulf from the rear as well as the Gulf of Aqaba and Suez Canal.

Between President Cheney’s delusions of power backed by his rabid neoCON support group and Bush’s religious fundamentalists egging the “Dear Leader” on to start WW III so their beloved “End Times” scenario takes place, there’s no room left for sane and rational people in this war hungry nation.

When President “Nutso” launches another illegal and immoral war of aggression, this time against Iran, expect civilian casualties in the hundreds of thousands… or more.

Dear President Karzai,

You have to accept that horrible situation in your country when you let the foreign troops be present on your soil.
