A man has been arrested in Jerusalem on a charge of attempting to bomb a gay pride march through the city. The Israeli supreme court recently overturned a ban on the parade, sparking violent protests from religious groups.

BBC:

A Gay Pride march in Jerusalem has taken place amid tight security, sparking fierce protests among the holy city’s religious communities.

An ultra-Orthodox Jewish man was arrested for planning to bomb the parade, Israeli police said.

At least 18 other people were arrested during the march, which came after Israel’s High Court rejected an appeal by religious groups to ban it.

Father, In the Name of Jesus Christ, I pray Holy Spirit that you touch the hearts and the minds of those who have been deceived by the enemy that sleeping with the same-sex is ok.  Father, I pray that if they think they were born that way, to continue to seek the truth; that’s why Jesus came for them to be Born-Again.  I speak peace over their lives, and May You Holy Spirit touch the deep hurts and pains that has caused them to not see the truth....Father love on them, like no one esle can..  I pray this in Jesus Name
AMEN

A comment:

The term “Gay” pride is misleading and inaccurate.

In recent years folks who are bi-sexual, transexual, transvestite, funky or who are in other ways “differently sexually oriented” than the majority have been lumped together under the rubric “Gay”.

I learned only recently that it is far more inclusive and accurate to remove the word “Gay” entirely. Just use PRIDE PARADE… now everyone of every color, race, religion, and sexual orientation can participate in the celebration equally.

I just don’t understand where people such as those “ultra-orthodox” protestors get the notion that they somehow have either the WISDOM or the RIGHT to dictate to ANYONE how to “be” in this world. Don’t they have enough to deal with just managing and understanding the abilities, disabilities, frailties and ignorance in their OWN lives? I know I do.

Some Israelis, like Hitler’s Germans, would like to purge their society of homosexuals. Everyone knows how a Gay Pride march in Jerusalem threatens ultra-Orthodox Jewish men. It could stop them from wearing plaids with stripes. Or force them to listen to Barbara Streisand. Oh my!

Israel inevitably slides rightward, with the religious right posing an ever greater threat to Israel’s vaunted liberalism.

The fact is that founding a state on the basis of a religious/ethnic affiliation, but then hoping to make it - from the beginning - liberal and secular (like a post-religious but still demographically Christian country, for example) is like a non-Jew trying to convert directly to secular Judaism.

You can’t create a country as a post-theocracy. It’s like trying to become a divorcé without getting married first.

Israel is inevitably sliding into the religious/ethnic, blood-and-soil nastiness implicit in its founding. It’s the Jewish version of “Greater Serbia”.

Religion is always a con job.  Either the suckers want to keep something or get something.  And you can bet that the something is really nothing.

“The event, held in Jerusalem since 2001, has been denounced in the past by conservative Jewish, Christian and Muslim groups...”

Given the issue I suppose its to much to expect any comfort from the fact these idiots actually possess a capacity for agreeing on something.

Cheers to some true Israeli heroes for a successful march in the face of the usual fear, bigotry and violence that comes from religious fanaticism of any type.

I think the marchers scored points with the popo last year in being so agreeable about being relocated. In light of there being an external threat at the time, it was the right thing to do. I’m glad they got their march this year. Hopefully, next year’s march will be less marked by violence. The Haredi really need to keep their fanatics on a shorter leash.

Congrats to the few who decided to stand up to Jew, Muslim or Christian extremists! I’m so tired of seeing religious rights and beliefs rule over HUMAN RIGHTS and FREEDOM OF SPEECH! Religion is a SHAM....nothing more than a place for weak, feeble, insecure and fearful minded individuals. Your born, you live and then you DIE! THATS IT! The cycle of LIFE!
