Lott’s Wisdom: Illegal Immigrants Are Like Goats

Hoof in mouth?  Lott talks goats, immigrants.

When you combine a goat with an electric fence you get the solution ... to illegal immigration? That’s Sen. Trent Lott’s answer to the immigration question.

When discussing the immigration bill with reporters Wednesday, Senate Minority Whip Trent Lott, R-Miss., offered the astute analogy of building an electric fence for goats to keeping out illegal immigrants. Though he was quick to say that he was not in fact proposing an electric goat fence, Lott voiced support for a fence that would be supported by technology such as radar and aerial surveillance.  According to South Mississippi’s Sun Herald, Lott welcomed the controversy that would inevitably ensue, arguing that he has already offended everybody: “I’m doing great, aren’t I? But it gives you a level of utopia that is just so blissful.”

Glad that the Senate’s Minority Whip has enviably reached utopia. If only we could all be so lucky.

I think Mr. Big Mouth Trent Lott should be sent to the 38th Parallel in Korea to see how immigration really works.

Should anyone be surprised?  Trent Lott is what he has always been: a raging bigot, quite at home in a party full of closeted bigots.

Lott is an example of why Mississippi and its racist history remains the worse and most disgusting piece of land on the planet.

Concidering that the USA stole by subterfuge and wars of invasion half of Mexico, it is sweet justice that Mexicans would come back to claim that which was stolen.

The Mexicans are like the Jews, they simply aren’t waiting 2000 years to reclaim a protion of thier homeland.

God Latinos go!

As for Lott, what a gas bag.

The answer to the wetbacks crossing the border is actually very simple. Place Claymore mines the length of the entire border and watch how fast this plague will disappear.

Debates are positive, extremist points of view are divisive.  Real patriots to this great country are wise enough to know the difference. I see no wisdom here.

Mississippi must have the dumbest voters in the country to continue to reelect people like Trent Lott.Using analogies to goats among Mississippi men will only bring back back pleasant memories for many of them of their first sexual encounters.Of course thats before they like Trents hero Strom Thurmond moved onto to the maid.Almost makes you wish they had seceeded and had been left that way.

Hmm. Passport overhaul. The fence. The East Berliners were likewise told the wall was keep the westerners out.
I see absolutely no way to curb the Illegal Immigrant problem, which I do acknowledge as a problem, but to very strictly enforce prison terms and big fat fines, business destroying fines, upon business owners who employ Illegals. the motives of the Illegals is to get out of abject poverty. The motives of the business owners is opulance.
Why is there a halo around “business”? If someones motives are to make a lot of money, then they become exempt from any sort of loyalty to country?

Trent Lott, another old “goat” who should have been put out to pasture a long time ago. We have a Congress & Senate full of them. Hey Mississippi, somebody ring a bell, maybe he’ll hear it go home.

I truly don’t understand Lott’s comments about goats.Given that he keeps a few at home, I think he might have been verbalizing a sick sexual fantasy.Somebody should ask him if he “acts out”.I’d ask Lott’s wife, but she’s turned into a pillar of salt.

Thanks Nick I appreciate your comments..Like you I have many hispanic friends, including some family and have no issues with them..This is not a racist rant..

BUT in the last three years things have changed and now we find ourselves being pushed out by the sheer numbers of the illegals and their supporters…

The focus for them is not becoming part of this country any longer but to make this their own version of Mexico. They are doing this on our dime using our resources. It is the perfect invasion..

we cant let it go any farther..I understand where you are coming from. The time for hard choices has been forced upon us.

The problem with illegal immigration is that, at the core, poverty exists all over the world, and it is especially prominent in South America. Building a wall or arresting people for attempting to cross the border will not dispel the fact that the prospect of escaping poverty supersedes the consequences.

If our government really wanted to halt illegal immigration, it would spend money on helping lesser-developed nations grow economically. Supporting the UN Millennium Development Goals to end poverty would a great step to take, rather than funneling money into inefficient border patrol. According to the Borgen Project, just $19 billion annually would end starvation. That is very miniscule when compared to our $522 billion military budget.

I’m not defending Lott - after all, he’s on the same side as TruthDig and George Bush - but isn’t the title a bit ironic: TruthDig is falsely claiming that those coming over our border illegally are “Immigrants”?

First the fence, then ship out all illegal immigrants, then offer larger numbers to return legally.

Then pass a law making it a crime for any Government agency to not vigorously enforce those laws passed by Congress.

Carl, your frustration is legitimate but you are focusing it on the wrong people. I work in a small cafe in central Los Angeles and am around plenty of Spanish-speakers as well. I’ve learned to live with it, and imagine this…get along with them! And would you believe I don’t have to compromise any of my American values in doing so?
I am still pissed about our immigration system though and I hold our government (and by default our own citizens) for not enforcing the laws. Look up North American Union and you’ll see why it’s so important to those in power that we keep our borders as porous as possible.

“Immigrating babies”

Nothing confusing about immigrating babies.
Foreigners, are quite adept at tapping American resources. Their countries are dominated more than America, by the European Jewish Coalition, the World’s industrial monopoly. Corruption among Government officials, there and elsewhere (including here in America) renders foreigners, as well as legal citizens, subject to lessor humane health benefits. No socialist (or) communist, in his right mind’ will stay in his Communist country! Therefore; patriotism is not one of their virtues, and they say it blatantly - they simply don’t care about the 4th of July or any other, US American event. Having practically ruined their own country with this “couldn’t care less” attitude, foreigners bring their babies here for the benefits (payed for and earned) by legal US American citizens. Immigrants, wanting and getting something for nothing: are Communal & socialistic. (whatever else they may say!
From their country, they export, their often illegitimate babies, by hurrying across the border - often, at the very last final minute. Their newborn, American baby will eventualy and gradually import, the entire family - when he matures as an established “native” - US American, citizen.

Except immigrants, and goats, have hair.

I sit outside at night now and all I hear is spanish…
I go shopping and get mobbed in the ailses by them.
At both my son and daughters school their children take up most of the already crowded classes and english is the second language.

They have completely over run the economy of this town and they are not welcome. We have been forced to accept this and have had it rammed down our throats. And we are tired of it.. Americans are pretty good people but you have taken advantage of us.

I have to make a comment.  As a texan growing up on a farm and then working in landscaping I have worked with tons of spanish people.  Some where probably illegal.  These where some of the hardest working people for the most part like all people there is allways a few bad apples in any group.  My grandparents where the first generation born in america of their german grandpartents.  I believe in LEGAL immagration but feel we have to do something about ILLEGAL immagration.  When will some people figure out that this handwring about these poor illegals looking for a better life is the politicians trying to pull the wool over our eyes.  Its simple the neocons want cheap labor for their corporations and the demos want votes.  Neither side cares if it drives middle americans wages down. Which is has. I know several people who use to work in the house building industry and now cant find a job. I am not totally agianst letting the ones here stay here but first secure the border.
