Report: Secret CIA Prisons in Poland, Romania

A new report from the Council of Europe accuses Poland and Romania of housing secret CIA prisons, and also blames Germany and Italy for blocking investigation into the matter. The report’s author says his sources are limited, but “well placed” and even “implicated” in abuses. The CIA said the document was “distorted” but did not categorically deny its accusations.

AP via Yahoo:

PARIS—The CIA ran secret jails in Poland and Romania to interrogate key terror suspects, shackling and handcuffing inmates, keeping some naked for weeks and reducing contact with the outer world to masked and silent guards, a European investigator said Friday.

The CIA called the report “distorted,” but stopped short of denying the existence of prisons in the two countries—the agency said it does not discuss the location of its overseas facilities. Poland and Romania also vehemently denied the allegations.

“High value detainees” like self-proclaimed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and suspected senior al-Qaida operative Abu Zubaydah were held in Poland, said the report, which cited CIA sources. It said lesser detainees, but still of “remarkable importance,” were taken to Romania.

Thank God new Europe is still too stupid to say no to us when we are about to do incredibly stupid things. As mentioned by a previous commenter this is all about us.If a barbarian turns you into a barbarian who wins. Our system has handled all things thrown at and it can handle Al Qaida. If the morons in charge will only let the system work.Too many people have been watching 24 a fictionalized version of the CIA and think that is the way it works and all the experts say it does not.So not only are reprehensible acts being done in our name the experts say they are counter productive. How do you win hearts and minds when the choicefpor the populace is between barbarians who speak your language and barbarians who do not?

Welcome to the new America, which proclaims the right to attack any country for any reason; the country that can torture innocents whenever and wherever it wishes, just because it can.  Welcome to the land that claims the right to dominate the world and build a thousand military bases in nearly every country, whether the people there like it or not.  Welcome to the Fourth Reich - land of the new master race.

I’m shocked and appalled that the CIA would resort to such tactics. A bullet in the back of the head would suffice.

Okay, now I am strating to understand why the “Immigration Issue” has surfaced as a political topic. This administration has to keep the Visas quotas free to reward those countries who has supported the CIA’s secret prisons.

This “issue” has nothing to do “race.” “Race” is a tool to manipulate the simple-minded voting block.

Dr. Evil (Karl Rove), your infliction of eternal pain and misery has only begun.

Addendum...sorry, I must add something.

There is so much, coming so fast, that it can overwhelm.  This is a time, not for the faint of heart, to fight like hell just when you think you are lost!!!

I find myself fighting the affliction of “Tourette Syndrome”, the sudden impulse to let out a string of expletives, when the subject of “extraordinary rendition” comes up.  For that matter, it only takes the mention of the shrub to elicit this reaction now.

We just don’t get it; this is about us!!!  Not the detainee’s.

We have redefined the definition of victim…and it is us!

Shame . . . shame . . .  but those former Eastern Block countries DO have the facilities:  Count Dracula in Transylvania and godknowswhat in Poland.  They must be making hard bargains . . . as in unlimited worker visas (green cards) to the U.S. to ALL applicants from those heavily populated countries; missiles, military hardware, etc.

Poland has a historic and romantic notion of fighting for the U.S. and for Independence (Now read DEMOCRACY) Pro-U.S. no matter what!
