Conservative Senator Loses Battle With Cancer

Sen. Craig Thomas, R-Wyo., died at the age of 74 on Monday. Under Wyoming law, the state Republican Party will choose three candidates, and Democratic Gov. Dave Freudenthal will appoint the successor.

AP:

WASHINGTON—The death of Republican Sen. Craig Thomas will not change the balance of power in the Senate. Unlike many states, Wyoming law is designed to keep the same party in power after a vacancy.

Thomas, a conservative, died after a fight with leukemia that was diagnosed last year just as he was elected for a third term. He was 74.

The senator’s family said he died Monday evening at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. The family had said earlier in the day that his cancer had been resistant to a second round of chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia.

My goodness Humble (talk about a misplaced nomenclature...wow!)you are a font of right wing spin arent you?

the Democrats want to control your life do they? I seem to recall that the Dems controlled the legislature for a few decades, there back a ways and you still have your guns dont you? You are still free to send your children to the private school of your choice, or homeschool them as well, right? So exactly how do Dems seek to control your life?

One might say that the Democrats are damn ineffectual, are unable to send a unified cohesive message, cannot finds the spine to stand up to the worst administration in American history but to say they have this overriding and secret desire to control ones life makes most everything you say suspect.

I am overwhelmed by the compassion that all the liberals here are showing over the passing of one of our elected officials.  It brings a tear to my eye.

Hey Rowdy, you forgot “stringent socioeconomic controls” in your definition of fascism.  You want stringent socioeconomic controls, you must look to the Democratic party that wants to control every aspect of my life.

“We are going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”

“Fairness doesn’t just happen. It requires the right government policies.”

As always,
Your devouted Humble Servant

Thomas:

The only thing Hitler didn’t like about Russia were the jews there and that it wasn’t his.  Hitler did not dislike communism. In fact i will state once again, THE NAZI POLITICAL PARTY WERE NATIONAL SOCIALIST.  Hitler didn’t like the fact that communists were organizing worker unions in Germany which took away from his power.

It might behoove you to do a bit of research with any convenient engine. ( My favorites are Dogpile and Vivissimo but any will quickly set you straight)

This fallacy that you spread is absolute fiction. The far right has used the fact of the NAZI acronym to spread the fiction of Hitler supporting socialism. Nothing, absolutely nothing could be further from the truth. I will leave it to you to quickly discover the truth or continue to believe this fiction. Your choice.

thanks guys. i try to be pithy and keep my comments short. i’m not trying to be a pedant. i’m sure everyone has access to a dictionary, but here goes; websters new world dictionary gives this def.of fascism.” a system of gov characterized by dictatorship, belligerent nationalism and racism, militarism, etc”. no mention of leftists. the dictator, nationalist and racist part is what i usually think of when i think of fascism. this dead senator and falwell both subscribed to the nationalist and the racist parts. they also would have liked to see a KKKristian dictatorship. i try not to respond negatively to other comments, but it is clear that#75756 has their MLEV shoved deep up their ASS. finally i am not right or left wing. neither liberal or conservative. i practice my own brand of madness. thermonuclear holocaust for everyone. it would be glorious.

You might be scared to read the platform of Hitler’s National Socialists (Nazi Party).  Aside from a few issues, it is almost identical to the socialist platform of today’s Democrat Party.

Unless you can make a factual rebuttal please don’t try.

Fascism is not a product of the left. The nazis invaded Russia because their hatred of communism was greater than their hatred of capitalism.

Did NPR get it wrong? I heard that the Governor was free to pick any successor, and not locked into choosing a Republican....I also heard that the GOP spin machine was already in high gear denying this assertion....hmmm.
