Clooney and Damon Are “Obama Guys”Posted on May 31, 2007
Sen. Hillary Clinton was gearing up on Thursday for a young Hollywood campaign fund-raiser—and not a moment too soon. Time magazine reported from the Cannes Film Festival that “Oceans 13” studs George Clooney and Matt Damon are enthusiastic about Barack Obama’s ‘08 presidential bid.

MMS and Kelt65 are right on - even tho’ they disagree.
Neither Obama nor Clinton are going to make significant changes - and neither gives a whit about environmental justice or education reform . .. so screw ‘em both.
However, the Dem constituents are PERFECTLY conditioned and will vote for whomever is thrust upon them.
So, so sad.

Yesterday Senator Obama restated his now stale plans for Iraq. The crux of them is the withdrawal of US “combat troops” by March/April 2008. Will the remaining American troops be unarmed nannies who will babysit the numerous Iraqi orphans?
Report thisActually his plan looks very much like the German occupation of the Netherlands during WW2. Yes, there were “combat units” resting and retraining in the Netherlands such as the “Panzerlehr” which foiled the breakthrough of the Allies at Arnhem in 1944 but such units never took part in the maintaining of “law and order”. That was done by the German SD and German “Green Police”, both non-combat units, with the aid of the Dutch police. Even the German army units that participated occasionally in the rounding up of Jews were elderly soldiers unfit for frontline duty like the ones that knocked on our door in 1943.
Once Iraq is secured, the future President Obama avers, he will “solve” the Israel/Palestinian problem! I do not know whether to laugh or cry. I am sure that Hamas is delighted to know that this totally inexperienced politician will mess in the Middle East thereby producing even more enemies for America and Israel.
Anyone supporting Barak Obama for the presidency has obviously never read anything the Senator has said (as reported by the media)or written publicly. Scott Ritter is right. This politician is likely to continue the “Imperial Presidency” because that fits his overly agressive personality.

Edwards isn’t going to do shit to change this system, neither is Hillary or Obama. It is imperative that we stop letting the media choose our candidates for us.

I believe Matt, George, and Barack are great men. However, as an idealistic pragmatist, I believe none of them have a chance of becoming president. If we want to end the Republican reign, we have the best chance of doing that with a moderate, white, male Democrat. John Edwards fits the bill. I saw him speak yesterday. He is very reminiscent of Bobby Kennedy. Yes, I’m old enough to remember him. He promised to end the war and close Gitmo his first day in office. I’d like to hold him to that commitment. Yes he is young looking, handsome, but don’t hold that against him.
Barack/Hillary are the favorites of the right and the media. Not only are they the Democrats with the most money, which they will pay to the corporate/mostly Republican/ middle right media for ad time; but they are also eminently beatable due to racism/sexism/Republican voter suppression.
Report thisCheck out Bill Maher’s 5/25 show. Ben Affleck agreed with my assessment as did Bill.

After 2 terms with these crooks, I can’t find much wrong with any of the Democrats in the race.
Obama was right about it BEFORE the war. That keeps him on top in my book. A couple of terms as V.P. with Al would be a good way to get to know him better.

I don’t care what idiotic celebrities think which is why I listen to thoughtful people like Clooney, Pitt and Damon. Gravel, Kucinich or else what? You won’t vote? You won’t vote for a Democrat? Personally I would vote for either of the above but only with my nose clamped tightly shut. I would vote for them, and watch the White House go to a Republican again because neither of them could win a general election. In fact it is doubtful that either of them could win a primary election.

I’m a Clooney fan, and have blogged on this repeatedly, but disagree here. Obama is full of empty platitudes to date, has no environmental policy aside from an absurd faith in liquified coal, and is on the record as being in favor of the possibility of nuking Iran. I know this last was at a time when such a view was seen as politically expedient, but this only shows he is a politician, through and through. And THAT is what bothers me most about him - he is a politician, not a leader.
Alas, Dems will vote for whoever is trotted out, without a care for the Middle East or the environment. There vote is taken for granted by the party and it should be. Like their party, they typically have little resolve and they’ve long ago resolved to go along for the ride, wherever it may take them.

Sure the rest of the country was just waiting to know that the few Hollywood elite that have managed to stay out of rehab this past year would vote for someone that has no leadership skills whatsoever. Unfortunately in the real world you can’t just say “take two” when somebody f**ks something up because they don’t know what the hell they’re doing. “Inspired” by Obama, why because he looks good on camera? “Stars” are best seen and not heard. Much like Bu$h, when they speak without a scriptin front of them, they generally make fools of themselves.
