Now that Paul Wolfowitz has resigned his post at the top of the World Bank— blaming the media for his ultimate downfall—President Bush has found his successor in former Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick, who will take over as bank president at the end of June.

BBC:

Meanwhile, AFP quoted a government source as saying that Mr Zoellick’s “experience and long career in international trade, finance and diplomacy make him uniquely prepared to take on this challenge.”

[The source] added: “He has the trust and respect of many officials around the world and believes deeply in the World Bank’s mission of tackling poverty.”

As deputy secretary of state, Mr Zoellick was chief aide to Condoleezza Rice between February 2005 and June last year.

Hopefully Zoellick can continue the only good thing that Wolfowitz did while in office, which is aid to Africa.  With 19 billion more dollars we could almost eradicate world hunger, which I think we can all say is worthwhile.

i’m beginning to understand the reasons for a lot of the expulsions in the history a people...nobody likes to be bullied for extended period of times...when countries get occupied, the resistance is visible...when the occupation is surreptitious the violece seems to come out of nowhe

I don’t think the other members of the World Bank will take kindly to being led by a man who, through his participation in the formulation of the “Project for an American Century”, implicitly endorsed America’s right to rule the world.

By the way, have you seen what happens to Jews who are critical of other Jews?  Blue on Blue, as it were.

If you think bringing charges of anti-semitism on Gentiles, for being critical, is bad, you should see the Level of HEAT come down on Jews who dare to criticize, other, more powerful Jews.  A whole publicity apparatus kicks into gear do discredit the individual.  (It is vicious and very personal.  No prisoners are taken. Careers are ruined.)

I don’t think being Jewish has anything to do with it.  A Ruthless Bloodsucker is what he is, be he Jewish, Christian, Muslim or even Atheist.  I don’t think Jews have a monopoly on syndicates.

I’m all for criticizing someone, even if they are JEWISH, but I don’t want to sound like David Duke in the process.

I keep waiting for an article that will explain who this Zoellick is? If Bush remains true to form he will be bad news for everyone.

Mean while Wolfie I note that a Japanese politican committed suicide in shame for his bad behavior, or at lest its exposure. To bad we can’t popularize this in America. The world bank would be a few million richer. And, Wolfie, it was you that created the problem, not other people for noticing.

The World Bank is just a capitalist thug organization dedicated to putting the screws to any country that won’t play ball with the international Jewish Banking Syndicate. It’s only appropriate that they get a known thug to run it.

Congratulations Mr. Zoellick,

You now make bigger bucks than your ex-boss ! But we do not know the future of the World Bank under your leadership, at least it would be better off than with Paul Wolf !
