Alexander Litvinenko was convinced that his polonium-210 poisoning, which led to his death in November, was no accident.

After six months, a potential lead has emerged in the murder case of Russian expatriate Alexander Litvinenko, who died in England last November after allegedly being poisoned with radioactive polonium-210.  However, the suspect, former KGB officer Andrei Lugovoi, denies that he had a hand in Litvinenko’s death, according to the BBC.

BBC:

The Russian man the UK wants to charge with murdering Alexander Litvinenko has denied any involvement and said the case is “politically motivated”.

It’s not at all surprising that the Russian government is refusing to extradite Mr. Lugovoi—Since 2003, U.K. government has refused to extradite Akhmed Zakayev, a Chechen separatist whom Russians view as an Islamist terrorist. In addition, the Putin regime is likely quite worried that, should Lugovoi be extradited to the U.K., he might confess and implicate the Kremlin in the process.
