Litvinenko’s Suspected Killer DefiantPosted on May 22, 2007

However, the suspect, former KGB officer Andrei Lugovoi, denies that he had a hand in Litvinenko’s death, according to the BBC.

It’s not at all surprising that the Russian government is refusing to extradite Mr. Lugovoi—Since 2003, U.K. government has refused to extradite Akhmed Zakayev, a Chechen separatist whom Russians view as an Islamist terrorist. In addition, the Putin regime is likely quite worried that, should Lugovoi be extradited to the U.K., he might confess and implicate the Kremlin in the process.
