Family portrait:  Angelina Jolie (left) watches boyfriend Brad Pitt (crouching) talk to young Adam Pearl, son of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl and his wife, Mariane (right).

Angelina Jolie and paramour Brad Pitt hit the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of their latest joint effort, “A Mighty Heart,” which focuses on Mariane Pearl, played by Jolie, as she weathers the abduction and murder of her husband, American journalist Daniel Pearl, in 2002.

BBC:

Jolie was herself pregnant during the planning of the film.

“I remember thinking, ‘I can’t imagine at this time not having the father with me, and being concerned for his life, and trying to eat, and trying to remember to get some sleep, and take a deep breath,” she said.

“As a woman it just made me so much more connected to her.”

Would it not be great if there was no need for an Angelia Jolie and we actually had leaders who cared about the plight of the rest of the world. One Jolie does more for the image and the winning of hearts and minds in the third world than all the bunker busting bombs dropped in Iraq.I am not a pacifist but these religious leaders we have in office in now should do more reading of the bible than using it to justify aberrant adventures.

“I’m waiting for a movie to be made about one of the Iraqi women who were widowed by Bush’s war…or one of the Lebanese women who were widowed by Israel.  I’m not holding my breath.  They are members of the wrong tribe.”

You got that right, Jack.

And how about an expensive, glamorous new movie

for each and every Lebanese citizen killed or mutilated

by the ongoing explosions

of the zillions of US-funded cluster bombs

which Israel

illegally and viciously and gratuitously

rained down on Lebanon

AFTER the cease-fire agreement

last summer?

(oops! - again: wrong tribe)
